I have been to Khao Sarn a few times in the past, mostly for lunch. This time we took New Yorkers to dinner and they were as impressed and happy with the freshness and balance and appearance of the food as we were. This is one of my very favorite Brookline restaurants.
Delicious food. Sound level was not in fact "energetic" - it was loud, a little hard to talk together and annoying for that. Not as loud as some places, but still too loud.
Had the coconut dish but eliminated scallop and squid? Very good. Thank you for helping to scoop coconut
Duck dish. Very good
Good basic Thai food
They had mice in their restaurant. One 1 but 4. And the waiters are so pushy. We weren't done with our dinner and they dropped off the check.
Do not recommend.
Wonderful find! Good food, great ambience. We will be back!
This is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants.
We always enjoy it.
Pleasant quiet setting with very good food. I'd recommend trying the specials. I had a really good squash dish with coconut broth-- lovely color and very tasty.
A neighborhood favorite. Good food and service. It's also generally pretty quiet, which I appreciate
Khao Sarn is always pleasurable dining with delicious food.
stopped in for a late dinner on a Sunday night.
The pumpkin curry special was excellent, plenty of veggies, smooth moderately spicy curry. Would definitely order it again. The pad thai was pretty good, not outstanding... a bit too sweet for me. The lighting was a overly bright, and the booth seating was far too upright to be comfortable.
Friendly and efficient staff, quick service, delicious food.
We arrived 45 min early and they seated us and let us hang out until the rest of our party got there. The food was incredible and in big portions and as a party of 9, we had a great time.
The food and ambiance at Khao Sarn are quite good. Food is tasty and presented particularly well, service is smooth, the setting is relatively quiet, and the prices are reasonable.
Great food and drinks (Green curry, mango martinis) friendly fast service.
We were well taken care of at Khao Sarn, and the food was excellent.
Our friends loved the restaurant and promised to return. We often
take friends there for dinner, and have never been disappointed.
Very attentive waitstaff with good knowledge of their menu.
Food was presented nicely and had a fresh taste.
I liked it
very fresh food, service friendly, beautiful dining room
I get take out from Khao Sarn all the time. The food is tasty, fresh and a reasonable value. I brought friends here from out of town, and they were thrilled with the food! Never too crowded or loud. Service is variable, but never a problem. Enjoy!
Service was very good; courteous & prompt. Food came quickly and was very flavorful.
Lots of different dishes to choose from. The waitress wasn't sure how to describe one of the dishes so she called a colleague over to help her, which we appreciated. Everything was delicious!
The app'r combo, noodle dish, and broccoli dish were all fine. Unfortunately, the service was not -- had to seek a wait person and continue to look for someone to bring another drink to the table. Maybe they were short staffed, but 2 or 3 women seemed not to have enough to do at the reception/register area.
We were a party of 8 and so sampled lots of dishes. All were good, delicately spiced, freshly cooked. Service was friendly. Ambiance lovely.
The food there is as good as in Thaïland, very tasty, delicious!!!!! Service is very attentionnate and the decoration is so nice! One of our best restaurants in Boston!!!
Awesome thai food in nice pleasant setting. Pad thai and ga prow chicken were amazing! Highly recommend.
The Pad Thai (I realize I wasn't an adventurous eater today...) was great. Excellent flavor and a perfect blend of sweet/savory. Would've been nice to have more than 2 shrimp, but the meal overall was great.
Very good Thai food. Excellent service. Very accommodating to large parties with children.
The only problem was that they would not put the Red Sox game on the tv. Especially good were the crispy chicken wings and macadamia nut beef dishes. Very solid.
Great area find - pretty food presented by lovely pleasant people in peaceful setting! Great bar offerings too- loved the infused mango vodka. Can recommend to all types of dietary needs.
This Thai restaurant is a cut above…the food is just a bit elegant, the service friendly. The wine selection is very good and reasonably priced. I've never been disappointed and I wasn't on this occasion.
The specialty items were really outstanding. Terrific service. Cocktail menu is all sweet sounding drinks so we just ordered old fashions and they were well made.
THis is not your average Thai but a cut above in food and atmosphere. Suitable for a special
birthday dinner. We ordered an extra dish and found ourself finishing everything--it was just too good.
We had a nice experience. The food was solidly good, not spectacular. But this is hard to quantify because Thai food is so good to begin with. The service was exceptional. The bar was very good. Lastly, they have a great location a block from Coolidge Corner.
We'll be back.
Excellent Thai food. We ordered spicy food and spice level was exactly where it should be. Prompt and attentive service.
Khao Sarn is a very pretty restaurant and very convenient if you are in Coolidge Corner. The food only got four rather than five stars because my husband and daughter did not love the pad that. The curry though was very nice.
We decided to try Khao Sarn on a recent visit to Boston. Despite the mixed reviews, I decided to give it a try as it was conveniently located to where were were staying in Brookline. We were NOT disappointed. Ambiance is very nice & we were promptly seated upon arriving at our reserved time. Our waitress was friendly and very helpful with recommendations. The food was fresh, hot, tasty & portions were good. Prices were moderate. Our group had tofu triangle appetizer, spring rolls, Pad Thai and Mango Fried Rice (excellent!). We will definitely return & would recommend to others.
We really liked our meals at Khao Sarn. Hot Pot Vegetables and Noodle Tofu dishes were especially good. The service was very good but tailed off a bit once the restaurant got very busy on a Saturday night. Also, the noise level got a bit loud once the room filled up. Still, this was a great place to go out with friends for reasonably priced Thai food in a very nice setting. We look forward to our next visit!
Had a group dinner with 10 of my colleagues. Not too spicy, may need more for who fond of Asian cuisine, but good for everyone. People are attentive and give you a good advice about menu and the number of dish you may need for your party. I recommend to visit there in group of a couple of people, 3-4 or more to enjoy variety of their menu.
My friends and I went to Khao Sarn on a wednesday night. The place wasn't busy when we got there at 8 pm, but they still put us in the coldest, darkest area possible. I ordered the crispy chicken pad thai. It was okay, but I've definitely had better although the portions were big. We also ordered the crab rangoon as an appetizer - not worth it. They were thin triangles with a little cream cheese, tasty enough but not what we expected. I'd go back, but definitely do takeout instead.
Consistently good Thai food accompanied by pleasant service in good setting.
We were looking for a place where we could have a quiet lunch -- in order to have a conversation. This restaurant had good food and a pleasant ambiance. I had a salad with chicken and my friend had a Thai dish -- more exotic than mine -- and we shared a Thai version of flan. I liked this place and will certainly return.
