Keystone Ranch Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Recently attended Keystone Ranch for my girlfriend's birthday and it was everything we hoped for! We are in Summit Co. on a weekly basis and it was our first visit. Sarah provided us with a fantastic intro on the history of the property, prompt and friendly service and excellent recommendations! The Bang Island Mussels were extremely addicting, while the Duck and Wapiti Elk Loin entrees were hands down two of the best game entrees we both have ever experienced. Finishing out the evening with the Grand Marnier Souflee dessert on a comfortable couch in front of a cozy fire was absolutely perfect! We're both eager to return and highly recommending to all of our friends. Thank you!
Lovely family dinner with visiting family member. Great place for a special occasion dinner and/or taking out-of-town guests. Our server, John, was very professional, knowledgeable, and welcoming. Loved the relaxing ending to the meal with dessert in a comfortable seating area by the homestead's original fireplace.
We got lost with directions found online. They basically said they tried to fix it all and some GPS systems still took you in the wrong direction. We were 40 minutes late for our reservation. The manager stopped by the table because they could tell that we were upset and did nothing about it. Didn't offer a free drink or anything. I own a business and the first thing you need to do is try to smooth things over even if it effects your bottom line. My steak was ordered medium and was raw inside. By that time it was so late and we were so tired, I didn't complain. They weren't going to fix anything anyway. Also we tried calling the number that had called us from the restaurant to say we still couldn't find the place and couldn't get through, which the manager couldn't understand, so I showed him the number that called my phone through open table. The long and short of this is, make sure you know your directions because the manager doesn't care if you find it or not. Signage could be better at the end of the road saying how many miles to the destination. We were not happy how things turned out.
We had a great experience there. They no longer have the 7 course fixed price dinners but have quite a varied menu. We shared a half bottle of a good chardonnay. They provided a selection of 3 tasty breads, with a special butter and jam. We each started with a hot bowl of thick soup. My wife had the Australian antelope with risotto and I had the 18 hr beef short rib with 2 fresh vegetables. We were the first in the fireplace/dessert room so got a great seat near fireplace, where we split a dessert. Our bill was only $150, which I thought was quite reasonable for a restaurant of this caliber. Our waitress was very nice, overheard us telling someone that it was our anniversary and brought us a celebratory item.
It was 3 miles off of the main road. Fortunately, we rented an AWD and had no trouble on snow packed roads when we were there on President's Day Weekend. Those 3 miles would have been a challenge for a lightweight 2WD car when we were there.
A $$$$ tradition for a special occasion for us, residents of Keystone Ranch.
I ordered NY strip med-rare, was RARE...and I had to flag down someone to have it addressed, as waitress never returned after food served, to see how everything was!? Everyone finished eating when my steak was returned to me. The initial contact with waitress was good but she
kinda disappeared after were drinks served...
This is a very historic, elegant, pricey place to dine, but staff seemed a bit more unprofessional
and less attentive than on our previous visits.
This is a gem of Keystone Ranch, within Keystone Resort, a Vail Resorts Property.
I would prefer to, but cannot give it 5 stars - which it SHOULD GET ON ALL 5 ratings!!!
We had our New Year's Eve dinner here and it did not disappoint. It was a fixed-price special event meal with 6 delicious courses. The food was perfectly prepared with appropriate serving sizes. The server was friendly and professional. The finishing touch was dessert served in the living room in front of the fireplace.
Food was very salty, steak (filet) was poor quality and very over cooked . Restaurant staff was nice but seemed overwhelmed and stressed. Value was terrible, $125 prix fix for New Years Eve, no options, unremarkable food. For that price food and service should have been outstanding. I will not return.
We had an amazing time at dinner here! It's beautiful inside with a warm cozy winter feel. Beautiful scenic views of the snowy meadow. The food was outstanding. We eat out often at all types of restaurants and the food was the best I think I've ever eaten. We loved having dessert by the fire in the living room area. Try the soufflé, delicious! Also try the elk loin for your entree and the barley kettle soup for your starter. Both were out of this world, delicious!! Our waiter, Michael, was top notch. This is definitely an experience to dine here! Can't wait to go back again next Christmas!!
We celebrated our 52nd wedding anniversary the other night. In the past we have done our 50th and 25th along with other visits and special times. Not to be critical, but, as I wrote on the receipt the wait staff was outstanding and the facility itself is outstanding, as usual. I did indicate on the receipt that it was my opinion the pork was outstanding and rated an A plus, but I was disappointed in the filet. Would have to rate it a C plus at best. Probably just got a bad cut of beef so we will be back in the future, but in good faith I did not feel we could give the total meal a great score. Will try again. Cannot judge over 25 years of visits by one meal. Thanks for asking and as I indicated on the receipt this is only one persons opinion. And please do not use this one experience in your reviews. It is private between Keystone and me.
The service and food were not the quality to be expected from this level restaurant or the prices charge. Our waitress did not bring bread until immediately prior to our meal, leaving us waiting over a 1/2 hour for the bread. She never came back to offer to order more drinks. Further, the $40 lamb dish consisted only of 2 small lamb chops and some small carrots and the lamb wasn't even cooked as ordered. We were required to order dessert with entre order even though we overheard another waiter saying it was only required for one of the desserts. Then our waiter tried to rush us out without serving the desserts we had ordered. So disappointing.
We've been dining at Keystone Ranch Restaurant every time we are in the area - at Christmas time and summer months.
It is a tradition for our family and we love it.
John, has been out waiter several years in a row and we couldn't be more pleased. We highly recommend the great food, dessert in the fireplace room and the drive out to the Ranch - it is worth it!!
The service was slow, especially at the start of the meal and they weren't busy that night. Information provided about the food and wine was meager. The menu was exactly the same as last year. The room for dessert is very cold by the windows and there is only one spot by the fireplace. A little disappointing for the price.
Long standing tradition of having dinner at the Ranch with the family for the holidays! It was great 9 years ago and has maintained excellence over the years! Fantastic food, amazing service and the living room for desert is always memorable. Michael was our waiter, and has been many times over the years. It's always a good sign when waiters stay over the years and are happy serving you!!!
Disappointing Thanksgiving meal. I was told there would be a special entree for Thanksgiving. It was two pieces of turkey, sweet potato fingerlings, broccolini and gravy. No stuffing, no mashed potatoes and no fall / Thanksgiving decorations in the restaurant. The food was good, not great as I have previously had when dining at this restaurant. The dessert, Shoo Fly Pie, was too small to taste the filling. The pumpkin ice cream was 3 small cubes on the plate. Disappointed there was no pumpkin pie for the occasion.
In my humble opinion this restaurant experience is one of the best kept secrets in Colorado. Unique and fabulous surroundings of the original Keystone Ranch Home, this place has it all. Quiet, great service, excellent food and a complete wine selection...Nothing that is not left to cover.
Highly recommend for a special occasion.
