No trip to Sun Valley is complete without dinner at the Ketchum Grill. We ushered in the holidays on a snowy evening with a delightful meal. I usually have the duck breast and my husband has the lamb shank. We both broke with tradition and were not disappointed! My goat cheese ravioli in a light broth was divine, as was my husband's pasta with spicy lamb sausage. Dessert was a festive black bottom pecan pie. Our server was attentive without crowding us. It was a perfect evening.
Always consistent and good value.
Delicious bread and butter, followed with an appetizer of shrimp cakes, and for dinner I love the quail pasta with a nice glass of wine.
We have second home in Ketchum and always go to the KG when we're there and it's usually a wonderful experience but we ate there on 11/18/18 and were disappointed. The duck that I had was tough and over cooked and my wife's warm spinach salad with chicken contained too much spinach and the chicken was really dry. The service was off as well, not sure why and hope that this experience was just a one off. We will definitely give it another chance given or previous visits.
This place is a little gem in Ketchum! Great find! Enjoyed the atmosphere, food and service!
While our server was a sweet gal, she obviously was not familiar with the wine list or menu. It was difficult to accomplish ordering. Meals did not come as requested, i.e. mushrooms on side. The chicken was delicious on the spinach salad, but the greens were overly drenched in dressing. We were disappointed that the only beef steak available was a shoulder cut. The warm chocolate cake was delicious, but the baked apple was mostly crust. This was not the same experience we've had in the past.
We have eaten at the Ketchum Grill every year when we attend the Sun Valley Jazz & Music Festival. The food is consistently very good. The menu is imaginative, and always a couple of excellent specials. The desserts are sinfully delicious. The wine list is more than adequate, and the “Reserve “ list pretty strong. Corkage fee is $25 for those thinking about bringing their own.
Our server, Jeff, was personable, very attentive, and enhanced our dining experience.
Visiting Sun Valley for our anniversary.
Sometimes years pass before I return to vacation in the Sun Valley/Ketchum area. But when I am back in town the Ketchum Grill is the one restaurant I always visit. My favorite in the area with great, friendly service and good food. At times it feels almost too small but that is also part of the Ketchum Grill's charm.
The food that evening was over the top great! We can’t wait to come again!
We were there during a busy time but it seem noisier than in the past. Just the crowd I suppose.
The service was excellent. The food was delicious and creative. Dessert was great. Glass of wine options were very good
Ate on a busy Saturday night during the Trailing of the Sheep Festival. The food was excellent, including the lamb dish put on especially for the TOTS event. Service is good, the wine list is excellent. Although busy, our salads and then main courses came promptly. We were impressed with the seasonal additions to the salad menu and the seasonal sides on the main courses. It is a small place and lots of tables in it, so be prepared for a typical noise level for that type of establishment; thus the 4 instead of 5 stars for ambience.
I got one of the nightly specials which was salmon with a vanilla sauce. The salmon was cooked perfectly. However the vanilla sauce lacked any kind of true flavor or distinction. If you have never been to this restaurant before definitely try the meatloaf. It is fantastic and a staple item.
I wish the staff had paid more attention to my reservation, where I had written about food allergies in our group. I wish more substitutions had been available. I think things might have gone more smoothly if the online menu had been updated. In spite of the hiccups, our server did his best to accommodate, and our meals were very delicious!
Always fantastic. We now choose mostly from the “specials menu” but everything on the main menu and wine list is superb.
Ketchum Grill has been a “must do” for me for years. Not this time. Expecting a delicious, moist “fall off the bone” fork tender lamb shank (it was the Trailing of the Sheep after all), the tough, almost cold, tasteless plate I was delivered was very disappointing. Served with spaghetti squash and grilled polenta slices, equally uninspired. The highlight was the beet and arugula salad. Wish I’d stopped there.
Great for locals or travelers. Very comfortable and relaxing. The food is great and a special attention to ingredients. beautiful surroundings and you just get a good vibe being there.
Amazing food and ambiance. We will be back next year for sure. Everything is homemade. Best food of our trip.
Disappointed. One entree caused an upset stomach. However, the service and table was good.
Cozy, intimate and fun, the lemon Rock shrimp pasta was the culinary star tonight. The dark chocolate covered mousse island in a shallow lake of raspberry sauce was spectacular, we shared and every drop was gone. Service is cheerful and friendly. Five stars for service was earned by the way staff handled errors. The bottle we ordered was not the wine served - same vintner, wrong wine. They promptly and cheerfully replaced it with a new choice. More disconcerting was my oven roasted chicken served cold. Not underdone, but ice cold in the center like leftovers out of the refrigerator. An entirely new plate was brought out quite quickly, it was piping hot, juicy and delicious (but little jus). Our dessert was comped, with sincere apologies. Never did we feel service was indifferent or unfriendly throughout.
We’ll be back, but I can’t help but worry about the kitchen at the Grill. Mistakes happen (the distributor delivered the wrong wine), but serving an ice cold meal means a problem needs attention in the kitchen.
Excellent food, service and experience! Strongly recommend
A charming location, thoughtful staff and amazing food to share with friends.
Love this restaurant!! Always a favorite for 20 years! And now that great PIZZA TRUCK
You haven't truely experienced Sun Valley if you haven't the braised lamb shank here at least once. I talked everyone at our table into to ordering it and every one of them enjoyed it ... all eight of them! Friendly, attentive service. Delicious sides, salads and desserts. Only draw back for some might be lack of a full service bar. Beer and wine only, but they have an outstanding wine list. We'll be back.
A Ketchum old time favorite if you don't want a place that could be in a big city. However I feel the food has degenerated to mediocre at best...sorry to say.
They did a very nice job on service and food. The meals we had (goat cheese ravioli and lamb meatballs) were creative and very enjoyable.
We are locals and probably dine at Ketchum Grill twenty times a year, with never a disappointment. This is the original restaurant od Scott and Anne Mason, who (with their children) also own Town Square Tavern and Enoteca. This is the Trifecta of Ketchum casual restaurants and open year round with innovative comfy creations that always satisfy and are never fussy or pretentious, but always delicious and graciously served. The Grill is the coziest in winter, but doubles in size all summer with a patio. They serve only beer and wine, but the best of both. There is a private party room for groups. The Seafood is spectacular bur so are the day steak, lamb meatballs, pasta dishes, meatloaf, pizza and even the hand formed, premium beef hamburgers. The wine list ranges from carefully chosen, ecomomic wines by the glass to celebratory extravagance by the bottle. You will love this cozy, historic cabin in Ketchum.
Always a favorite while we are here. I love the meat loaf.
Great service and atmosphere. Local feel of a real mountain town.
Loud if the restaurant is full.
Everyone's meat was cooked excellently. The vegies listed on the menu to come with the dish were substituted with under cooked squash and mashed potatoes, which was mediocre. Waitress asked if that would be ok to substitute. We felt we needed to say yes.
Service was pretty slow and impersonal. The clams ( which we always order when on the menu) were fishy and we could smell them when the dish was arriving. With so many other dining options I’m surprised they don’t do a better job there.
Every time we visit the Ketchum Grille, we have a great dining experience! We have never been disappointed.
Another great meal. Ketchum grill never disappoints
Ketchum Grill reliably serves great dinners. Ambiance is great, service is friendly and professional and the food is consistently well prepared.
Can never get past the excellent shrimp pizza. Unfortunately I also need to eat the wonderful chocolate chi-chi as well.
Always excellent. Elk and beef Pasta dish was excellent as was the Idaho Trout.
Excellent all around and continues to be one of our favorites after 20+ years!!!
One of our favorites on Ketchum. They are lovely people and the food is delicious
We always enjoy the Ketchum Grill. We kick off or end our visits to SV with a night at this great local restaurant. Our server this time was Jeff and he was excellent. It is not really a kid restaurant but they offer great kid food options nevertheless. Wine list is great and the staff is very familiar with the wines. They usually offer several seasonal specials in addition to their solid menu. I had the filet with mushroom sauce this time and my husband had one of our faves, the lemon noodles with shrimp.
