We had our Mother’s Day Brunch at Kensington Quarters. The menu had a nice selection of brunch items. The food was delicious. Also tried a mixed cocktail that was excellent. This place never disappoints me!
Service and ambience was good. Food was nothing special, except the burger was pretty good. Might come back for a drink on the back porch.
This was my second time dining at Kensington Quarters and I definitely recommend it! Neither quality nor quantity are sacrificed here, and if you get the tasting menu, price-wise for the amount of food you receive, you honestly can't beat it. Plus the variety of food they serve means that anyone ("foodie" or not) can appreciate the menu.
I also know for a fact that almost everything on your plate will be house made - down to the pastas - which is pretty impressive for a restaurant known for their meats. It's not something that can be said for a lot of restaurants in general. OH, one last thing... Do yourself a favor and order a cocktail. I haven't had a bad one there yet :)
We went on a Tuesday night. It was not crowded. We all ordered the tasking menu. I will say the food just kept coming! We started with a delicious Charcuterie, followed by small plates and ending with delicious array of meats. Everything was delicious, including one of the small plates with pasta. The service was excellent, including modifying one of the small plates due to an allergy.
Difficult menu to order from. Dried out meat. Weird panna cotta dessert.. and I order panna cotta a lot. I’ve been here before, and really liked it- but not willing to try it again
The food was fantastic, we opted to do the tasting menu and received a surprising amount of food. Our waitress noticed we opted for the kombucha, so when we ordered dessert, she brought us an “aperitif” which was a mixed kombucha drink, as she noticed we were not drinking during dinner. It was a small detail that we really appreciated.
The food and service were wonderful! Will be going back on our next trip to Philly! Hope to bring some goods home from the butcher next time.
Food was fantastic, great service. Get the Maple ice cream with sweet potato chips!!!
Great atmosphere, awesome food and drinks, friendly efficient staff. I highly recommend a visit!
Great brunch! Delicious bloody Mary’s.
The restaurant space is cool, open and uncluttered. Our waiter was attentive, but not overly friendly. . . a smile would have been nice. Overall the food was good, but portions were very small for the price. (Went out afterwards for a snack!) Burger was excellent, as was the smoked chicken, but the fennnel tortillini was undercooked and somewhat chewy. Duck was good but nothing special. Don't even think about dessert! This restaurant was on our list of "must try restaurants", but I don't think we'll be returning.
We came in town to catch a show at the Fillmore and I happened to find this place on Bon Appetit’s recommended Philly restaurants. The neighborhood was a bit sketchy for parking, but the place itself is on a nice block.
I got a reservation days in advance, but it was a quiet Thursday night so there were plenty of spots. The storefront was open so the customers at some tables and the bar could enjoy the great weather. We walked past the bar, butcher’s window (you can see meat but nothing gruesome), more tables, and onto the porch. The wood of the building gave it a very warm environment. I’m glad it wasn’t a “industrial concrete” look that looks nice but can get so loud and echoey.
The patio was picturesque. I joked that it looks like a stock photo backdrop for “young entrepreneur happy hour”. The string lights, benches, and small garden worked well together.
We got a $28 charcuterie that was quite small, but everything on it was great. I’m a beer snob and I really liked their offerings. If wine is more your thing, they have more than your average Fishtown bar.
We got the happy hour burgers and they were great and reasonably priced. I would recommend getting a dish at happy hour prices and ordering an appetizer to share.
When the sun started to set, they brought out these neat lanterns that had a great ambiance.
Service was quick, the staff was knowledgeable and nice. Would definitely recommend!
The service was one of the worst I ever experienced. We were unacknowledged first at the bar waiting for our table. Then we waited long to even get a water. The waitress had no personality. Terrible, plain and simple.
The food was overpriced. We got a meat entree for $26, and only half the plate was covered. Flavors were good, but quantity and temperature were very very overpriced.
I would not recommend.
We made a last minute schedule change which was immediately accommodated. Food was excellent. Loved the baked beets and duck.
Our brunch was absolutely incredible! From the moment we walked in, we were treated so well! Katie is terrific!! Our server team was amazing, our water glasses and coffee cups were kept filled, and the eggs Benedict were the most delicious and perfectly cooked I’ve ever had. And the homemade biscuits! And the delicious meats! Beautifully presented... I highly recommend it!
Horrible service - extremely slow and not attentive at all, even when we were there during a very non-busy time. Food was OK, but steak special was extremely overpriced.
Probably one of the most tasty dining spots in Fishtown. Has been open for a few years and only gotten better. Excellent staff, from greeters to servers, make the experience one you are happy to share with newbies. Beers and wine selection go very well with this “farm to table” menu. This place never disappoints!!
Food well prepared and nice variety to choose from.
Ambiance was nice. Energetic vibe. Outdoor seating in the back
Staff was prompt and courteous. Would definitely come back.
Loud, small space. Service wasn’t great, the hostess had to take my drink order. Food was ok, small dishes. Drinks were not great.
We had a lovely table in-between the kitchen expeditor and the brightest florescent-lighted butcher room I’ve ever seen. Food prices were way too high for not much food.
One of the best brunches I've had. The potatoes were glorious!
Excellent experience !!! I highly recommend this restaurant. The service was really good, from the seating hosts to our waitress, who was very knowledgeable and really made our experience so good, she was right on point with her recommendations. My wife Naomi had the ribs and I had the duck. OMG, both dishes were delicious. We also had dessert, Naomi had the honey Russian cake and I had the blondie, ice cream on top of a brownie, I must say, they were a nice ending to a very delicious dinner. Thank you and we will definitely return.
The food was decent, but very over-priced for what it was. The service was great though.
The food was great. However, we did the KQ family style meal and at $65 pp, it was definitely not worth it. Portion sizes were small except for the meat tray but still not nearly worth our total bill. It would have been cheaper for us to get individual appetizers, pasta, and meat entrees. We have been here before and gotten the mixed grill tray and that came with 3x the meat at only $100 total and I would say that deal is well worth it.
I would highly recommend Kensington Quarters for brunch! The service from the beginning was fantastic and friendly. The restaurant itself has a cool ambiance with the combined butcher shop aesthetic. As far as food and drinks go, everything was delicious. I'd highly recommend the bloody mary (I personally like them spicy, and the bar was accommodating to my request) and the scrapple tartine. The beer list is also extensive and has very interesting options from local breweries.
Food was delicious! Server was lovely ~ was helpful suggesting wine and offering a tasting. Only complaint was that service was extremely slow. I do not liked to be rushed what so ever but it took forever to get that first drink!
This place was amazing. I was blown away with how good everything was even the vegetables which were the best prepared I have probably ever had in my life.
Service is exceptional. Makes the difference. Food is amazing, and service makes it better.
The food was really good and offered some unique takes on veggie and meat dishes.
Our server Jason... hands down one of, if not thee best server we have ever had.
Personality for days, funny, on point, knew his menu, had amazing recommendations including drinks; kept us informed especially when the kitchen started getting busier (even though we could visually see it from our high top ).
Food: Phenomenal.. I had beef tartare and bone marrow for the first time and loved it... the fried chicken was some of the best I ever had... and then we splurged and chose the “all grill” which was all the meats and an assortment of veggies ... all of which were great portions and fantastic... the potatoes were .... wow ... yes I know potatoes ... really?! But yes they were amazing... the steak and lamb and sausage and chicken omg
My boyfriend loved the ribs on the plate as well...
The dessert ... also spot on
I had the dark chocolate pudding .... which thank god wasn’t too rich ... it was so perfectly balanced ... and my boyfriend had the honey cake which was also great just not my preference
The bartender was excellent... she was calm cool and collected and was a one woman show taking care of the entire restaurant ... she has skills
The chef... (we thought he was an owner that’s how spectacular he was) he was almost like the chefs you see on tv it was that efficient and smooth and well done and well organized and very good communication lines
Also I thought it was interesting that everyone from hostess to manager to bartender helped out... took food to tables and cleaned /bussed the tables (I don’t know if they were short staffed or if it’s by design by it was very smooth
The restaurant was very cozy
I can’t say enough good and amazing things about this place
I wish it was closer... I’d be there so much more it was phenomenal
Nice setting, location & service. Burger was good. Over cooked the pork tenderloin.
This was our first visit and it's definitely a return visit. The food was interesting, imaginative and simply put...delicious. It was quiet when we arrived for an early dinner. Our wait person / bartender was helpful and knowledgeable of every aspect of the menu. It soon became busy and service started to get uneven. Every plate brought to the table was placed incorrectly. The wait staff who brought the entrée course brought everyone the wrong dish. They need a bit more service help upstairs. That being said the food was great and worth a return visit.
It was my second birthday dinner here, my dad's first time. We were both disappointed by the portion size of the brussel sprouts and the beets were shaved so thin they were literal shavings and pretty underwhelming.
Both entrees came out barely warm - our reservation was at 6pm and there were not many diners ahead of us.
The first time I went the server was excellent - offered all of the information needed to navigate your nontraditional menu. Our server Friday did not and we had to pull the way it works out of her. Her description of portion size with regards to how many we should eat for a decent meal was also way off, hence our surprise at how minimal the two veg dishes were. We should have just gotten the mixed grill because we both were hungry later. Not the best experience for my father given how much I loved it the first time I went. And you ran out of duck the night before but it was listed on the menu. That's really why I chose KQ for my birthday dinner. And no mention of it being a special occasion despite it being noted on-line when making the reservation, at your request.
We have been going since it opened in 2014. We love food, staff, and ambiance.
We have been long time customers of KQ but i am very disappointed to say that the past two times we have been it has really gone down hill. Our last trip for brunch was very upsetting from start to finish. It took 20+ minutes to get our orders taken, seemed as if the food had been sitting a long time before it was delivered to us (30+ minutes) and when we got it things were very blah. It was obvious that they were very busy and staff was way short handed but it was a 2 hour experience and not a good one :(
I wish the short rib was available. Wine on draft was ok
Had a really good time and enjoyed food
Great food and excellent wait staff
