Let me preface this review with, "We Loved the Food!" They hired a really good photographer for this one. We drove past the place twice before we saw it. The, " in a casually modern 35 seat space" is very casual and very, very informal with several large wooden benches across creating booths with tables around the perimeter. The servers were very young, very friendly and very personable with no limitations. The ambiance is really that of an Asian take out place with seating, but the food is GREAT!! We had the pork dumplings (small), spring rolls (also small), Mongolian beef and pineapple fried rice and they were all OUTSTANDING!!! As we were dressed for a night on the town, we were far less casual than our surroundings, but we will be back and you should too!!! By the way, the menu is huge with offerings from, "five major East Asian Cuisines-Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese and Thai" and I suspect that all are done well!
KenShin is the Best!! The food is great and the service is even better!!!
thee server was friendly and helpful. the food was hot and delicious. and the atmosphere was comfortable.
Great food! Great menu! It was out first time there and certainly will be back many many times in the future. The place needs some sprucing up... I felt it was clean, just a little old. That being said the food was relish, great value, great presentation.
I love coming here!!!
The food was very tasty as always. My friend and I go there every month before we go to a little local theater down the street to see a play. I also go there frequently for a quick lunch. It is a great alternative to Chinatown since it is sometimes difficult to park there. We never have difficulty finding street parking at Ken Shin.
I usually enjoy my visits here but it wasn't as great as I have come to expect. Nothing bad just the food was a little off. The spring rolls and the dumplings were a little over cooked and the rice was very sticky. It may have been a bad day but I was not as happy with the overall experience as I usually am.
Small restaurant. Decent price. Good value. Geared towards take-out.
Worst Asian food I have ever eaten!!
The food is always great.. I get the same thing every time I visit and Kenshin always allows my substitution at no additional charge. That keeps me coming back. Service is ok where the waitstaff is not always hovering and I like that all the staff stops what they are doing to see to your needs. I would always recommend Kenshin for both lunch and dinner and BYOB makes it well worth the visit. I recently started reserving a table and they always have it ready even if I have made a change in my reservation or come a little later than when I reserved it.
I always go here at least once a month and normally select the same item off the menu. Today I tried a different item and did not enjoy it at all. I should probably stick with what I like and not try new things.
Always a great time going here. The food is always wonderful and BYOB always makes the night go smoothly. Only thing I would say is the appetizer for two could be a little bigger. But the all of the food is great and a delight to choose from.. I highly recommend this place.
Restaurant was empty! Food was good but they clearly wanted to go home as they were cleaning the restaurant as we were eating.
Portions were nice size. Wouldnt eat the sushi, who knows how long it was sitting there.
I'd stick with traditional chinese and you'd be fine
Food is always good. It is prepared well and nicely presented. The prices are very reasonable . My friends and I go here frequently and highly recommend it.
Pricing wasnt bad and food was prepared quickly. Would definitely go again!!
The food here is great. The service not so much. I suggest getting Thai pineapple fried rice. It's amazing. Service was terrible don't know if it was cuz I'm black or it was cause they were understaffed. But seen the waitress come to a table several times and ask how they were doing and never once came to mines to ask how we were doing or give me a refill on my drink.
We went for Valentines Day and it was quiet, inexpensive, great food. Would definitely recommend.
The title says it all. Its nice for a casual restaurant, but not a formal or evening venue. Food was average. Not the best not the worst. The people were very friendly and fast.
Wanted Asian without a crazy price, stopped In and they waited on us hand and foot. The food was great the portions big and very reasonable. Five of us with apps, dinner, and dessert 100.00. It is BYOB not fancy at all but the food was cry good.
A friend recommend this place to me. She couldn't stop raving about the food. And now I understand why. We were a party of 9 and the service was great. They offered to place our bottles on ice until we were ready to start drinking.. I had the TNT roll, garlic and shrimp noodles, crab fried rice, and the wings.. and everything was delicious!!!!
When my son and I arrived for a 4pm reservation, we were, quite frankly, a little nervous about staying. We were the only diners in the place and when we entered, it had a kind of funky smell. I think the air was turned up after we were seated. Anyway, we took our chances and we are still talking about how good the food was. For a little joint in Northern Liberties we ate some pretty terrific sushi! I had the pho and it was outstanding as well. We were pleasantly surprised and plan on going back next time we are in that part of the city. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. We were also happy they had the World Cup on the big screen. The food was awesome and VERY REASONABLE!
Food selection and variety at this restaurant is very good, mixing Chines, Japanese, Thai, Korean and Vietnamese influences well, although it is not a fusion cuisine. Prices are moderate, as well and portions are ample. The food was good and service attentive, the only part I found lacking was the ambiance. From the buildup, I would have expected a more posh setting, but we had a good time anyway. I would recommend it as a good place to stop and get a meal, but not necessarily as a "destination" restaurant. If you go, try the bubble teas. Very creative.
Great prices and good food!
A group of six of us went for dinner on a Saturday night. Plenty of seating, not too noisy. Overall, it was good, but nothing special. They were out of the lettuce wraps. The appetizers were good, the mei fun was very good, but the sushi was pretty much bland and flavorless. A bit disappointing.
I was so happy to find this place. Since I don't drive it was close to public transportation and they did not have me waited long. Everyone was nice and the atmosphere was great.
Would just like the lights to be brighter so that I/we can read the menu pls.
split a few appetizers a sushi sampler and sashimi sampler along with an entree. The sushi was extremely fresh. The food was well prepared and served promptly
Normally a great place for a nice asian meal., also good for take out
great shrimp with asparagus....good sushi...and very good service. They are very accommodating in making a delicious meal.
Food was amazing and the service was the best!
The best I'd had in a long time. Clean glasses, crisp
Vegetables, lighter sauce. Well seasoned
Can't wait to go back. Excellent eating experience j
delicious shrimp with asparagus....and sushi...thank you and fabulous service......great diner!!!!!
delicious appetizers and the shrimp fried rice was wonderful. Friendly service and a big menu to choose from...
we had the appetizer for two and it was delicious. We also had a beef dish which was one of the best we've ever had. The prices were amazing....a great dinner for very little cash....thank you
Solid choice when looking for Chinese food outside of China Town.
The food was phenomenal, the service was excellent, the food came out quick and in rather large portions, and you can't beat the price! We will definitely frequent this spot more now that we have tried it.
My girl friend and I just graduated from Temple and were seeing each other for the last time before she leaves for Stanford, CT and me to NYC. KenShin gave us a great place to meet and enjoy good food and relive memories. She likes chinese food and I love sushi, so who could not have asked for a better place!
This is the second time my family came here and we enjoyed ourselves tremendously. The food was excellent and the came quickly. The staff was very friendly and the night passed too quickly. I would recommend KenShin in a heartbeat!.
Good restaurant with a wide variety of dishes!
