American
This hole-in-the-wall joint in Uptown is a pleasant surprise. Furnished in dark stained wood, forest green leather, and dim lighting, the small bar, with its American flag and taxidermy bird, feels classic American. And that's the point. It's all inspired by John Kennedy, who, in a photo alongside his wife, looks over the bar, which serves French 75s, martinis, and a strong whiskey sour.

There was a distinct odor in the building when we entered. It smelled like there was a sewage leak in the restroom.

I was looking for someplace quiet for a happy hour drink my my friend. The Kennedy Room was the perfect spot! It's quaint and small, but the ambiance was amazing. The drinks were excellent and their selection was top notch. It's intimate feel makes it perfect for a nice date.

This place is a total dive bar. The kind of place people from Austin love (sometimes lost on Dallasites).

But here's the thing, THEY SERVE FOOD FROM THE OLD WARSAW NEXT DOOR. Apparently the same owner. So we had exquisite steaks and salad - dive bar meets divine food. Although you should know it was Old Warsaw $$ prices.

I was disappointed at the complete lack of Kennedy memorabilia or any real effort to have a Kennedy theme. They took down the Kennedy portrait to make way for a flatscreen. C'mon people if you're going to do the Kennedy Room do it right.
