A great choice for a special event. Server was friendly and attentive without "hovering" The setting is relaxing with three different levels of formality. Food was just a tad rich for me, but I will make a different choice next visit. There will definitely be a next!
Wonderful restaurant. Quaint and true to the area. Excellent ambiance and atmospheres. Great menu and wonderful food. Hard to decide but we did, went with the Inn burger and chicken salad sandwhich. The burger cooked to perfection and chicken salad wonderful flavor. We treated ourself to desert too. The peach cobbler was terrific topped with ice cream and the banana pudding best ever had. Wonderful ending to a nice day. There was open mic night and the music was nice.
Very much enjoyed the brunch. The menu was more limited due to Father's Day, but was still great.
This place is a gem. We were driving to Williamsburg and passing through Fredericksburg late in evening and hadn't eaten. I found this on Open Table and we got a 9:30 reservation which was perfect since we were ten minutes away. It was quiet by then, but there were people at the bar. We were greeted so warmly and taken to a table. The building is very old, 1700's but updated of course and very cozy. Oldies played in the background. The waitress was very attentive and friendly, made good recommendations. We had crab cakes and wine to start; I'm not a crab cake lover but these were light and delicious with minimal filler. My husband had the marinated chicken sandwich and I had the chicken pot pie; both very satisfying and nice portions. We both agreed it was a lucky find and will definitely come back!
I felt like we were in Charleston having a lovely dinner. So beautiful!
We had a reservation for Sat evening. It was my birthday, noted with reservation. No big deal (never expected anything) but a courteous Happy Day would have been nice.
The outdoor patio is just lovely and it was a perfect night. A definite plus. One meal was terrific , other
crab cakes were sub par at best. there was more lobster chunks in the bisque than in the crab cakes very bready, stringy crab and probably left from day before. When asked how it was, I said ok and shrugged an ok. figuring it would open up a conversation, no. There were a very generous 3 crab cakes and when just 1 and a bite is eaten ... you would expect a "why" ? Needless to say it was a dissappointing way to leave.
Birthday brunch. Everything was delicious from drinks & appetizers to entrees to dessert & coffee. Highly recommend for Springtime brunch.
Beautiful restaurant and very quiet. Food was delicious. My wife got the swordfish and I got the filet. Reasonably priced for the ambiance.
Our first visit to Kenmore Inn. Very disappointing. The martini and Caesars salad were good. The 3 entrees left a lot to be desired. Crabcakes were mostly filler and very salty. Short rib was fatty, gristly and dry. Chicken came out undercooked. Leg was bloody and still translucent. Kitchen said it was ok like that. What? Sent it back to be finished. I guess we were being punished because it took over 10 minutes to get it back properly cooked. However, it was tasty.
Creme brulee was the tiniest one I have ever seen. But that was ok because its flavor and texture were not very good.
All in all, a pretty shabby dining experience. We won't be back and we recommend you don't go either.
Yes I would recommend the Kenmore Inn to a friend and I will bring friends at our next visit
Kenmore Inn is a lovely place. My sister and I enjoyed an elegant Sunday brunch, and my husband and I dined outdoors one night in their lovely garden. It's beautiful!
The Kenmare Inn is a little colonial treasure in old Town Fredericksburg at Princess Anne and Lewis streets. The restaurant is the lower ground floor and flowered courtyard of a reconstructed 1743 house. Upstairs is a B& B with nine rental rooms.
Farm to table fare is offered. A full bar offers, crafted bar drinks, wines by the glass and craft beers to accompany meals of 1 to 4 courses. All at sensible prices.
We shared superb crab cakes, Ceasar sa
And mixed green salads and a home made chicken pot pie: all savory and served with a smile. The mains also offered steak, Artic Char, chicken, hamburger plus a vegetarian special. Soup and desserts were a temptation we passed on. The outside rear courtyard dining is enticing. Wrought iron tables, white table clothes amidst lovely gardens. A bit of a chill so we chose the windowed table near the open French doors and shared the lively buzz from the barroom as well! A short Uber/Lyft ride from our strip motel, after a full day of driving, made it easy to find. Parking might be a challenge. But worth a go.
Kenmore Inn was terrific. The food was incredibly fresh and well prepared. The ambiance was gorgeous. We ate outside in the courtyard which wss beautiful. See the picture. I highly recommend it.
The food was good, but the service was awful. It took over an hour to get our food and 30 minutes to get a glass of wine. No bread or butter or apologies were provided. I had the same issue that last time I dined here. Sadly, I won’t go back.
It’s a great atmosphere and fairly good cuisine, but not a real restaurant as they ignore their diners.
The atmosphere is infectiously fabulous. Muted tunes with great food and drink plus... a delightful team. WOW! And you can't help but think that you are in this historical venue where powerful discussions have taken place. More WOW!
We wanted to try a local restaurant while visiting Fredericksburg, and found the Kenmore Inn listed on Open Table. The menu sounded great, so we decided to try it. We were seated promptly, but it took a while for the appetizer of crab dip to arrive. We love crab dip, we're from Maryland and get it everywhere we go. But this crab dip was missing something....the crab! It also wasn't very melty and gooey, what we enjoy in a crab dip. Then it took 45 minutes from order time to receive our entrees, and we were the only ones to order dinners at the time. There was only one other couple in the dining room at the time we ordered, and they were waiting on friends to arrive. When our meals did come out, the waitress mixed up our meals; we both had ordered the filet, but I ordered medium and my husband ordered rare--it does make a difference. However, the meat was cooked very nicely, and the demi-glace was tasty. The side dish of haricot verts....we each received only about four. Since it took so long to receive our entrees I opted not to order dessert. There appeared to be only one waitress, with a helper and the hostess. She seemed overwhelmed, and who knows how many kitchen staff there were since it took so long for two filets to come out. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant, and I wouldn't return if we visit this area again.
The overall experience was great. However the noise level made it diificukt at times to have a conversation
Our server Macey was great!! Attentive without being intrusive. Great job
The food was prepared perfectly. The only issue we had was the food was lukewarm at best
So quaint inside—the food was incredible—truly a hidden gem in Fredericksburg! Definately going back!
All food was great except the smoked duck. The flavor was very good but, skin was chewy. Minus that one dish- everything else was exceptionally good!
The Kenmore Inn was an absolute outstanding venue for date time.
I saddens me, as a local, to write this review. We have ALWAYS loved what we call Kenmore Pub, the downstairs of the Kenmore Inn. We purchased a gift certificate to benefit charity, and took another couple with us. We had a reservation for 7pm and were seated in the dining area near the outdoor patio. We noticed there were a lot of tables, and staff moving about quickly. It was DARK, I mean, not romantic dark, but, can't see your menu dark. We used our phones to order the crab dip app, and 3 drinks and one water. After 35 minutes passed, my husband went to explain to the staff that we would be happy to go elsewhere, considering we didn't even have our beverages yet. They appeared within a minute, and they apologized. The crab dip is good, VERY creamy... could be a little lumpier, but good flavor. We ordered our dinners, and waited. The food arrived almost 40 minutes later. I seriously had no idea what was on my plate besides the rockfish, which was two generous narrow filets. It tasted okay, but, it was like eating mystery food. I remembered from the menu that I was eating lentils, and a sweet potato hash, but , for the life of me, I couldn't see which was which. I had a white wine with my meal. My husband's duck was bland. The bill arrived and it was almost $50 per person with the tip. Ouch. One drink, one dinner, and a quarter of an app is not a good value at $50. We have had WONDERFUL meals there in the past, and understand that the owner/chef has opened another restaurant in town, The Confident Rabbit, but wish the service and food could have remained as high quality as it used to be. The bar on the same level is usually a great bet, and we love the small town feel. Don't know what is going on, but hope they can pull it together.
Very good experience. The food was excellent and the service too. We were a bit chilly so bring a sweater!
Food was good. Nice atmosphere. Service was very slow though. The menu listed on OpenTable is not up-to-date. The menu that was on the table when I arrived was also not accurate. Two of the items listed had been replaced according to our server but this was not mentioned until I went to order one of those items. This was disappointing since the menus left on the table when I was seated were paper and not laminated. This should have been either annotated on the menu or told to us when we were seated.
Great unique environment! Hidden Gem of Fredericksburg!
Great staff with great food. I love their southern twist and variety of dishes. Also a great place for a cocktail.
A great place for a Sunday brunch with friends and birthday celebration. Service and food both terrific.
Wonderful decor and ambiance.
Lovely place, historic hospital they said, quiet surroundings, food was great. Service was a bit slow. Would definitely return.
We booked the room with the stained glass upstairs for our after wedding celebration. The food was great. Some a bit colder than we would have liked. Service was great when they got on it but very slow when we ordered dessert.
Overall great experience with a few minor setbacks.
Quite disappointing. It was overall poor dining experience.
There was us and another couple no one else. Service was slow and they didn’t have half of the stuff on the menu. Quality of food was poor.
There were only three tables with people and yet we had a long wait for our food. The waitress did not update us on why we were waiting so long. We had to ask to have the candle on the table lit, we had to ask for salt and pepper. We had to wait for coffee to be brewed. My expectations were higher for service in an establishment like the Kenmore Inn.
Expected old world upscale restaurant. Was not impressed with the eaterys ambiance. Beautiful inn upstairs though. As a former restaurantor paying 30+ dollars for a filet mignon and 19+ for a pork dish, I would expect at the very least a salad and some bread. It really goes along way to offer those as the meal is expensive. What we did eat was tasty but left hungry for an $90 hill.
The wait staff was courteous and attentive. The appetizer and salad were served in a timely manner. However, the entree was served 25 minutes after the salad plate had been cleared from the table. The server apologized for the delay but did not offer an explanation. Overall, the food was excellent. A final note....I last dined at the Kenmore Inn 17 years ago. At that time, the restaurant was on the main level and provided outstanding ambience. Having the restaurant in the basement/bottom level is quite different. I took my wife to Kenmore Inn to celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary and expected the restaurant to be upscale. It wasn't. My not knowing that the restaurant had been moved is not your fault. I should have phoned and make certain it would be as I remembered. However, I offer that your web site should be very explicit that the restaurant has a very casual atmosphere.
Disappointing. I believe patrons in the restaurant were not a priority because an event was being held on the main level and service and attention was devoted to them. Service was slow, food was not good. Fish and filet overcooked. Pork loin was very tough. Chicken was so salty it was returned to kitchen. Lamb sandwiches were ok, the au jus container was way too small, impossible to dip sandwich. We were there for over 3 hours and even though there were only 3 tables , to include ours, with patrons. Drinks were good, would have enjoyed more but in those 3 hours only had 2 rounds due to slow service, and we were next to the bar!!! Appetizers were also good, especially the crab dip.
Do not try this restaurant when they are having an event. If you do, double check your bill before you pay!
We had a very pleasant dinner. The food and service were excellent as was the atmosphere. The lower dining room with its view of the garden courtyard makes for a quiet and intimate dinner. And we were amazed at the bill. Quite inexpensive for such a good meal.
Everything was very nice, just what we expected. The meal was fantastic, though the stuffing was a bit salty for us. The atmosphere and staff were friendly. A very pleasant dinner.
We were there for Thanksgiving Day. The food was so so and the service was not very good. I wished it could have been better but...
They were apparently under staffed tonight. The flavors of the food we ordered was outstanding. However, most everything was warm and not hot. Additionally, we ordered our Filets medium and they came out well done. We did not want to wait to re-fire the steaks.
We were there for a tasting. The acorn squash soup was very tasty, we like their take on spinach salad. The main meals were the pork tenderloin (absolutely delicious), filet mignon (very tender and tasty), lamb French dip(the most tender, moist and delicious lamb) and the chicken (which was brined, reminded us of a VA ham but no ham, awesome!!!) Desert the pumpkin creme brulee was like pumpkin pie but better. The bartender was great!! All of our drinks were wonderful, strong, and spot on. The whole staff are gems!!! We can't wait to come back again.
Outstanding menu by an executive chef. Great service. Ill be back
