About Kenichi Pacific
Kenichi Pacific will "wow" you with its highly praised Japanese Pan-Asian cuisine and sushi, and its contemporary ambiance. In a relaxed, elegant setting, Kenichi offers unforgettable original dishes, such as the Duck Confit, a Chinese five-spice cured duck leg served with russett potatoes and wild mushrooms in a delicious balsamic reduction sauce. The Ono Tataki grilled rare, stands out as well, with mashed yams, green beans, japanese mushrooms and a ponzu emulsion. Another "must try" is the Dynamite Shrimp, tempura shrimp baked with smelt aioli and teriyaki sauce.
The presentation and the flavors are equally superb. Of course, only the freshest fish and seafood are used, so the sushi is impeccable. The molten flourless chocolate cake is achieving legendary status, so save room for a delicious finish!

Kenichi Pacific Ratings and Reviews
The food was a little better than I expected. Serving size, portions are small. Had the Toro nigiri and it wasn’t to my expectations.
The Chirashi had a little of everything with very small slices. Glad that I ordered some pupus/appetizers with the meal.
It’s a place that I’d say been there, done that.
We booked this reservation for 9pm 1hour earlier.,last Saturday & the booking was confirmed via Opentable.
However when we arrived at the Restaurant at 8.55pm, we were told that the Restaurant was closed at 9pm.I stated I had a booking confirmation for 9pm.The Front of House seemed Shocked & when she checked her System she realised that the booking was on the System.
She apologised profusely & made every effort to ensure the Chef & waiting Sttaff waited on,so we could have had our meal.
That is exactly what happened. We were very conscious of the situation & ordereed Swiftly, whilst it was a little bit hurried,we didn't mind cos we were acutely aware of the Staff waiting back for us. We had wanted to eat here 'cos for about 2 hours earlier I had researched heavily on Trip Advisor to investigate ,which restaurant to choose & We were really looking forward to eating here.
As it was 9pm,there was very little options available to us,so we did press hard for the Reservation to be honoured..
So we just want to acknowledge all the Staff that waited & cooked our food .It was delicious, We got the Rib Eye Terriyachi steaks with a Grerns dish.It was all fabulous. So a big Thank you to all at Kenichi Pacific for Sttaying Back.it was very much appreciated by two very Hungry Irish Tourist. Thanks again....The Food was delicious and this Rp
0estaurant totally lived up to its reviews for service,Friendliest & off Course Great Taste & Value. We would Highly recommended it,our Best food on The Big Island
The overall experience was great, we will return when back in Kona. My main complaint was the service was very slow. Short staffed? Extra busy? Not sure but it took a long time to be served, receive beverages, main courses, etc.
My filet, although very tender, was way over cooked.
All in all, I do recommend Kenichi's
Four of us had a delicious meal. We went because of the recommendation in HAWAII THE BIG ISLAND REVEALED guidebook. The book did say that the service was slow, but to the contrary, the service was fast and efficient. We ordered the Bananas Foster because we were feeling celebratory. It was good, but next time I'd go home and eat a banana and save a couple of $$.
The food is decent, but overpriced even by local standards. The sashimi dinner is okay; the rice seemed to be reheated. We paid $200 for 4 entrees, 1 sushi roll, and 3 desserts (no drinks, no appetizers). Service was very good, but dinner was definitely nothing special, especially for the price. Then again, I haven't had sushi elsewhere on the Big Island, so am not sure how it compares.
I ordered chirashi sushi, and the rice under neath all that fish fillet (sashimi) was not seasoned at all. Sushi rice has to be seasoned with vinegar and sugar. I didn't taste any vinegar and sugar. Did the sushi chef forgot? I am still scratching my head about this. My wife ordered a couple of rolls, and her sushi rice was not seasoned to much, either. As a person grew up in Japan, I found it unbelievable that the sushi chef didn't season the sushi rice.
Excellent sushi. Every roll was fresh and delicious. Ribeye steak was cooked exactly as ordered but could have been better with more salt. Molten lava cake and ice cream was outstanding. Server was a bit quirky. Best restaurant we ate at while visiting Kona.
Get the kenichi manapua (like a pork belly bao bun) that was my favorite. The Die hard was the best sushi roll. The dim sum was pretty good, we ordered a second serving bc there are only four. The sizzling teriyaki plates were also pretty good, I liked adding the onions from that onto other things.
Excellent food in Kona! It's hard to find truly good food in Kona, but Kenichi has it! We shared 3 appetizers: the avocado-mac nut salad, ribs and coconut shrimp. The food was wonderfully seasoned, although the portion sizes were in the small side. We shared the evening seafood special: grilled ono with tempura asparagus...highly recommended.
The staff is friendly and welcoming. The only negative is that it was hard to find. It's in a shopping center by Long Drugs. Don't let that deter you. It's worth the hunt!
The food was fabulous and the wait staff are great! What was not fabulous or great was getting my steak 20 minutes after my sister got her entree. That was a huge disappointment! I hope your sushi and kitchen staff can coordinate better in the future. I was a bit embarrassed after bragging about how fantastic you are to my mother and sister visiting from Washington. At least the food was great and the wait staff fun and professional.
nice relaxed setting with comfy booths, an extensive menu and attentive waitress- but not overly so. We went at 5 pm and everything was ready. try the clamari and the tempura hors d'oeuvres. We had a birthday and they brought out a really delicious flourless chocolate "cake" with a candle. We'll go back.
We have eaten here at least a half dozen times during past visits to Kona. We've enjoyed it and it is close to where we stay during our time on Big Island. While there is no view, occasionally there are live music or hula performances outside that can be viewed from the small lanai.
We tried to call for a reservation but the phone number listed on the door would not accept messages and no one answers the phone, Inconvenient and irrating. Ok, so we made a reservation online.
On arrival we were seated quickly and served a drink in a rather timely manner. Our order was taken, served and delicious as we expected. However, once served we were ignored from then on. We had to struggle to get anyone's attention to order a second drink. Our waiter was terse and seemed annoyed to have been called to our table once food arrived.
Artistic and interesting sashimi incorporating some local fish species. Good grilled Ono. Excellent salmon. Got to restaurant early for our reservation so took advantage of 15 min of an excellent happy hour selection of craft cocktails and appetizer selection. Friendly and helpful staff.
Kenichis is one of my all time favs especially for their happy hour. I took a friend here who's visiting from Seattle. He seemed to enjoy his 'Ono Tataki but was not blown away. I had the Avocado Macnut salad. Although tasty, the avocado was brown and not a pleasant color. My husband had the Ribeye which he said was good but slightly burnt in some spots. We shared the DieHard roll which was the highlight of the meal. Our server Jessie (sp?) was nice and personable.
