About Kenichi Pacific
Kenichi Pacific will "wow" you with its highly praised Japanese Pan-Asian cuisine and sushi, and its contemporary ambiance. Our group ordered a variety of dishes to share including the black cod, dynamite shrimp, ribs, pork belly buns. The ribs and cod were especially tasty. The ribs were fall off the bone tender. We also had the avocado macadamia salad, some sushi and the duck confit. The duck confit was seasoned with 5 spice powder and was a winner. We had the fried ice cream for desert. I would skip that. Overall great dinner. Would go back.
We had a mix of favorites and chef's special dishes. The miso black cod, dynamite shrimp and avo-mac salad are old favorites that were as tasty as ever. The two specials, grilled fish and barely cooked ono were spectacularly flavored and a wonderful contrast. We have never had a disappointing meal here!
We spent the New Year dining at Kenichi Pacific. We have been to the restaurant in the past and it is one of the hidden gems that most are unfamiliar with. Don't let the location (strip mall) fool you. If you like sushi, Pacific-themed food, or just a nice experience, I certainly recommend it.
It was not a pleasant experience. The food was salty. And we waited an hour for our fried rice to come. We didnt get any attention in the waiting time. We dont recommend people to go to this restaurant if you are in a hurry. Come only if you think it is worth to wait about an hour for some "just ok"food.
The experience at Kinichi’s was excellent and we really enjoyed our evening. This was our wedding anniversary so we chose this restaurant as we knew it would be a success. The restaurant offers a great menu for all but the seafood and steak are our favorite. The appetizers and drinks were all good as well, especially the sake. We will come back again soon.
We came for happy hour dinner with my mother who uses a walker due to hip surgery. The happy hour area was full and the only seating available was high stools or standing at the bar...which would not work for someone using a walker. The dining area only had one table occupied...but they would not extend the happy hour specials to the dining area..despite it being empty and the bar full with a 15 min wait...and my mom unable to sit on the high stools. Other wis ethe food was certainly good..although their appeared to be a bit light on wait staff and service was spotty and slow. I would have hoped Kenichis would have extended the courtesy of happy hour specials to the dining room...as teh bar was beyond full with a 20 minute waiting list..that would have been “customer service”..but that was not the case.
Excellent food and service. Nice modern setting. We enjoyed the miso black cod, tuna sushi rolls, duck and ono tataki. All were excellent and we finished with bananas foster. Good cocktails and wine choices as well. All made for a very enjoyable evening. Similarly priced to the place up the hill in Keauhou but MUCH BETTER food and service here!
Creative special sushi rolls, very fresh sashimi, a calamari appetizer that is luscious and a molten chocolate cake that's a "destination" dessert make this a wonderful hidden gem in Keauhou. We go 2 or 3 times during our 2-week vacation every year. Our night's (Friday Dec 1) special was a sushi roll combined carpaccio, tempura shrimp, avocado and a few other ingredients. The favor combination was wonderfully harmonious! Enjoy!
The food was a little better than I expected. Serving size, portions are small. Had the Toro nigiri and it wasn’t to my expectations.
The Chirashi had a little of everything with very small slices. Glad that I ordered some pupus/appetizers with the meal.
It’s a place that I’d say been there, done that.
We booked this reservation for 9pm 1hour earlier.,last Saturday & the booking was confirmed via Opentable.
However when we arrived at the Restaurant at 8.55pm, we were told that the Restaurant was closed at 9pm.I stated I had a booking confirmation for 9pm.The Front of House seemed Shocked & when she checked her System she realised that the booking was on the System.
She apologised profusely & made every effort to ensure the Chef & waiting Sttaff waited on,so we could have had our meal.
That is exactly what happened.We were very conscious of the situation & ordereed Swiftly, whilst it was a little bit hurried,we didn't mind cos we were acutely aware of the Staff waiting back for us. We had wanted to eat here 'cos for about 2 hours earlier I had researched heavily on Trip Advisor to investigate ,which restaurant to choose & We were really looking forward to eating here.
As it was 9pm,there was very little options available to us,so we did press hard for the Reservation to be honoured..
So we just want to acknowledge all the Staff that waited & cooked our food .It was delicious, We got the Rib Eye Terriyachi steaks with a Grerns dish.It was all fabulous.So a big Thank you to all at Kenichi Pacific for Sttaying Back.it was very much appreciated by two very Hungry Irish Tourist.Thanks again....The Food was delicious and this Rp
0estaurant totally lived up to its reviews for service,Friendliest & off Course Great Taste & Value.We would Highly recommended it,our Best food on The Big Island
The overall experience was great, we will return when back in Kona. My main complaint was the service was very slow. Short staffed? Extra busy? Not sure but it took a long time to be served, receive beverages, main courses, etc.
My filet, although very tender, was way over cooked.
All in all, I do recommend Kenichi's
