The sashimi is so fresh and beautifully presented. If you enjoy calamari, you will be delighted by Kenichi’s. I finally tried the duck confit this visit, and thought it was a fabulous asian-french fusion.
4th visit to this restaurant over a span of 15 yrs. First of all, have to give recognition to the fact that it is still there. Has always been in the same easy access location, same as always excellent food, same as always great environment. After all of the years I’ve come out to Kona and with all of the change I’ve seen occur this place is a diamond, a gem that always shows its value and delivers on it.
The Firecracker shrimp appetizer is always my favorite so glad to see it back? I enjoyed the filet enormously - three kinds of mushrooms, asparagus and mash. Steak was tender and perfectly cooked. My friend had the special sushi roll of the evening - black tuna and an asparagus roll. Our waitress was so friendly and sweet and the service was very fast.
Our annual visit on our last night on the Big Island. Excellent food and service as usual. Highly recommend. Great bar service also.

Excellent sushi created by those who know the craft. Dispite Americanized rolls there are still some traditional sushi and negeri on the menu which were superb. Cocktails were delishous and creative.

Went for a birthday celebration. Total Disaster! Everything we ordered got messed up. Wrong beer, wrong size hot saki, forgot other cocktail orders, didn’t get the right sushi rolls, forgot other sushi rolls, wouldn’t add side dishes we wanted and waitress slopped juice from finished appetizer as she removed dish from the table. Almost got sauce all over our clothes! Service was very messed up, slow, negligent and not experienced. Way overpriced. We were all extremely dissatisfied. And no birthday celebration either.

Every time I visit the Big Island, I make Kenichi Pacific a must do. The sushi and sashimi are divine and the service is always top notch. My friend always orders the lamb and loves it!
We’ve eaten several times over the years and think Kenichi’s is one of the best restaurants in Kona. I hope they bring back the “fire cracker” shrimp and the dim sum in the bamboo steam containers. The menu has changed slightly and with everything going on that’s understandable. I ordered the filet medium rare, but it was served medium well. My wife ordered the Ono Tataki, but ended up being tuna. It was good, but better with Ono. BBQ Ribs were superb. Miso Cod was excellent. Service was perfect. Attentive but not overbearing. Overall an excellent evening. We will return often.
We have been to this restaurant many times. This time we went with friends. We all ordered different things. The flavors, as always, were excellent, but my husband felt that he didn't really get much value for his order of ahi sashimi. There are other restaurants that we go to that serve a larger portion.
On the other hand, my fried tofu taster was excellent and they were able to change out the smelt aioli on the Austin roll to regular aioli to make it vegetarian without any problems. Our friends each had the miso bass taster and we had pickled vegetables for the table (yummy!) The server recommended a wonderful bottle of sake for the table, which we very much enjoyed.
Because of COVID, we chose to eat outside. Not the best ambiance, but acceptable.
The service, ambiance and food were excellent. We enjoyed the chirashi and tempura udon. The sashimi was so fresh and delicious. We enjoyed a special order of blue fin toro nigiri sushi and our friends never had enjoyed it before.
The tempura was fried to perfection with a very light batter snd the dashing and udon were outstanding as well.
We drove from Waikoloa to eat there and it definitely was worth the drive.
I highly recommend the restaurant if you want fresh fish!
Disappointed in the quality of food. Also the number of scallops in the scallop dish was minimal. Play me a steak was very average possibly blowers because it was not that tasty and was well cooked on the outside. Also mashed potatoes on the side or somewhat cool and not satisfactory
Our experience, from the time we arrived to the time we left was very splendid. We were tended to in a very timely manner and the service was beyond excellent. The food was amazing to say the least, we're already planning our next visit there with a good idea of what we're going to order. The staff were kind and friendly. We highly recommend and rate our experience 1000/10!!

Made a reservation weeks in advance for my wife’s birthday. We arrived a few minutes early and patiently waited outside the front door as the instructions on the glass entry door requests. It was hot and humid and, even after the hostess finished helping a customer, she never invited us in. So, we went in ourselves and one of the servers rudely cut in front of us to say “hi” to someone and then shut the door before my daughter could enter the restaurant. Once we safely got inside, the hostess said she could only accommodate us outside due to COVID restrictions. Yet, the restaurant booths were all filled with people sitting back to back and there were empty tables in the middle of the restaurant and she refused to accommodate us on those tables. Since it was my wife’s birthday (which we made clear in our reservation), we were dressed nicely (easily the best dressed in the restaurant) she said either we sit outside or we cannot eat there. She then left us and, I’m assuming went to speak to someone, then when she returned, she said they can arrange the tables to accommodate us but it could be a 15-30 minute wait but she couldn’t guarantee anything. At this point, we decided to leave and eat somewhere else. Others may have had a wonderful experience here but ours was a disaster and, personally, I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We have eaten at Kenichis many times and never been really disappointed. The sushi is superb and the dinners very good.

Fantastic evening with the family while on vacation. So many choices, several rolls and some "regular" meals were shared by all. The food was very good, paired with great condiments, lovely service, andan overall fun evening!
Great menu with plenty of tasty options. Service staff was fantastic. In addition to enjoying the daily specials, the rest of the food was perfectly prepared and really enjoyable. We will happily return!
