The presentation and the flavors are equally superb. Of course, only the freshest fish and seafood are used, so the sushi is impeccable. The molten flourless chocolate cake is achieving legendary status, so save room for a delicious finish!

We have been to this restaurant many times. This time we went with friends. We all ordered different things. The flavors, as always, were excellent, but my husband felt that he didn't really get much value for his order of ahi sashimi. There are other restaurants that we go to that serve a larger portion.
On the other hand, my fried tofu taster was excellent and they were able to change out the smelt aioli on the Austin roll to regular aioli to make it vegetarian without any problems. Our friends each had the miso bass taster and we had pickled vegetables for the table (yummy!) The server recommended a wonderful bottle of sake for the table, which we very much enjoyed.
Because of COVID, we chose to eat outside. Not the best ambiance, but acceptable.
The service, ambiance and food were excellent. We enjoyed the chirashi and tempura udon. The sashimi was so fresh and delicious. We enjoyed a special order of blue fin toro nigiri sushi and our friends never had enjoyed it before.
The tempura was fried to perfection with a very light batter snd the dashing and udon were outstanding as well.
We drove from Waikoloa to eat there and it definitely was worth the drive.
I highly recommend the restaurant if you want fresh fish!
Disappointed in the quality of food. Also the number of scallops in the scallop dish was minimal. Play me a steak was very average possibly blowers because it was not that tasty and was well cooked on the outside. Also mashed potatoes on the side or somewhat cool and not satisfactory
Our experience, from the time we arrived to the time we left was very splendid. We were tended to in a very timely manner and the service was beyond excellent. The food was amazing to say the least, we're already planning our next visit there with a good idea of what we're going to order. The staff were kind and friendly. We highly recommend and rate our experience 1000/10!!
Great food, attentive and kind service, clean, would definitely recommend.
Hostess was really rude so we left without
Kenichi Pacific is one of our favorite Resturaunts on the Big Island. Always a first class experience. The staff are knowledgeable, professional and helpful. The facility is clean. The food and service is predictably great!
A don’t miss when on the Big Island. Great food, good value & friendly service. Lots of close parking too. We’re foodies with over fifty years of Islands experience.
Tony, is the Best sushi chef on the island. Servers were great, and we picked the right time for dinner before it got to busy. We have always had a great experience
Made a reservation weeks in advance for my wife’s birthday. We arrived a few minutes early and patiently waited outside the front door as the instructions on the glass entry door requests. It was hot and humid and, even after the hostess finished helping a customer, she never invited us in. So, we went in ourselves and one of the servers rudely cut in front of us to say “hi” to someone and then shut the door before my daughter could enter the restaurant. Once we safely got inside, the hostess said she could only accommodate us outside due to COVID restrictions. Yet, the restaurant booths were all filled with people sitting back to back and there were empty tables in the middle of the restaurant and she refused to accommodate us on those tables. Since it was my wife’s birthday (which we made clear in our reservation), we were dressed nicely (easily the best dressed in the restaurant) she said either we sit outside or we cannot eat there. She then left us and, I’m assuming went to speak to someone, then when she returned, she said they can arrange the tables to accommodate us but it could be a 15-30 minute wait but she couldn’t guarantee anything. At this point, we decided to leave and eat somewhere else. Others may have had a wonderful experience here but ours was a disaster and, personally, I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We have eaten at Kenichis many times and never been really disappointed. The sushi is superb and the dinners very good.
Great japanese food
Waitress was not too polite. She split soup on table in front of him n didn’t even apologetic. Just mopped it up n did not ask if he was ok
The only thing missing is an ocean view, but the food and service are excellent and more than make up for it
Fantastic evening with the family while on vacation. So many choices, several rolls and some "regular" meals were shared by all. The food was very good, paired with great condiments, lovely service, andan overall fun evening!
Great menu with plenty of tasty options. Service staff was fantastic. In addition to enjoying the daily specials, the rest of the food was perfectly prepared and really enjoyable. We will happily return!
Kenichi’s is our favorite local restaurant!
We always order the specials because they are always fabulous.
Kenichi’s best dish is the New Way Sashimi. The citrus, chiles and tuna are so good together, its like magic.😊
Great food and awesome service! We are never disappointed.
Sushi was good, but not world class. Service was excellent. Ambiance was ok - it’s in a shopping plaza so not much they can do in the outdoor area. Overall very nice sushi restaurant that will meet most expectations.
Excellent food and friendly staff. Would definitely dine here again.
Fresh flavorful sushi, tasty rolls, fabulous roasted edaname.
The food at Kenichi Pacific is amazing. We are willing to drive 40 minutes to get to the restaurant when on Hawaii and we were rewarded once again with great Japanese cuisine and beautiful sushi. Totally worth extra effort to dine at Kenichi Pacific.
Food here never disappoints! Always delicious. Service was not great this time. But usually service is on point with food. This is a must stop for me and my family when in Kona!
Incredible sushi, good menu, great service. 10/10
Overpriced, tempura fair, entree overcooked . Lettuce subpar on salad (iceberg).
Service excellent. Good Food. Late for reservations, but restaraunt very accomodating.
Kenichi’s is our favorite local restaurant!
The food was very tasty & service was excellent! We didn't feel rushed at all & had time to rest & digest between courses. We decided on sushi special to start & seafood trio & ono for mains then ice cream & sorbet for dessert. All quite nice.
Our cocktails were yummy as well 😋
great food and on every trip ive been there so far have had an excellent server.
It was mom's birthday..but they didn't mention about it.
Food was wonderful. Smaller portions. Perfect for me, I know my husband could've eaten more
Overall very good.
Overall very good. The sushi rice was a little on the wet/heavy side but acceptable. The sashimi was properly fresh and presented well. My wife had their signature duck confit and was pleased. I ordered the chirashi which had a nice variety of sashimi . Highly recommend the molten cake-delicious!
Great food and service. Nice patio but no view. Very nice experience overall
I was disappointed to see our server didn’t have a real mask on. It was perforated to where I could see her lips. Which means it’s not effective in blocking germs… which is the key purpose of masks.
I’m sure this restaurant was once legendary, but the glory has faded. The famed duck confit was a bone dry, gristle mess with barely a hint of seasoning. The miso cod was overcooked. And the sushi was terrible. The toro was a little bit slimey, and the mackerel was absolutely on the verge of spoiling. The uni was served nearly room temperature and the nori was chewy and toothsome. But let’s discuss the terrible rice. No vinegar, not warm enough, brittle and falling apart under the nigiri. There is no excuse for bad rice at a reputable sushi restaurant. Shame on the cooks in the kitchen and behind the sushi bar; they should know better. The staff is very well-intentioned but the pandemic has definitely left them a little short. Patience is key for your experience here as everything takes awhile. I imagine Kenichi being fine under normal conditions, but currently it’s a hard pass. I won’t be back for another go. Life is too short for such an expensive yet mediocre meal.
We unfortunately left a bag, they actually called us, wow it was amazing, we went back to pick it up
We had an outstanding dining experience. Outstanding service, food and atmosphere. The sushi was fresh and done perfectly. The molten lava cake was delicious.
Excellent sushi - fresh and delicious. Great saki selection.
