Dinner was going well until the bill came. Found out we were charged a "service charge". This was not communicated to us at any time while dining. Wasn't mentioned until we questioned the check. Would be nice is diners are given prior notice of this charge.

Food was fantastic and the Owner (Josh) was exceptionally accommodating and nice. Eilleen (Hostess) was extremely pleasant and friendly. Elliot (waiter) was very cordial and attentive. I highly recommend this establishment. Much better overall experience than RA.

The restaurant has taken a nose dive since my last visit about a year ago. Menu was limited and the food was too expensive for the poor quality we received. Service was also mediocre at best. Don't bother going here as there are much better sushi restaurants in Dallas.

My husband and I were treated so well for our anniversary. First, Josh who is amazing, sat us in a private booth with a curtain and checked on us throughout our meal. Our waiter Elliot was awesome too. Secondly, the sushi and sashimi were wonderful. Our favorite dish was the 7 Spice Dry Rub Seared Tuna. I also enjoyed the cocktails. I cannot recall the name of the cocktail but it was made with rosewater, Gin, and Champagne. I substituted Vodka instead of the Gin and WOW is was so good. Thank you for making our first anniversary and pre Bon Jovi concert dinner PERFECT.

Service was awful. Waiter kept making unnecessary comments about items we ordered. We ordered a bunch of apps..he said lets just start you with 2 and go from there. I ordered several drinks that they didn't have so when I settled on 1 that they had, he said "you are all over the place". The food was salty. Just not the greatest experience for a restaurant that had such good reviews on opentable. Maybe it was on "off" night since it was Valentines Day.

If you are in the area and want good sushi, seafood and Japanese fare, this is a great place to eat. If you don't live in the area, however, you might want to find something closer to home as it's simply not worth the drive to pay 20% more for what you could get at one of hundred other quality seafood/sushi joints in Dallas (looking at you, Blue Fish). I guess the rent in this area is REALLY high.

I haven't been in years. We sat at 9 on Saturday. Hot food came out fast. Sushi took forever as well as our drinks. Around 1030 they said the kitchen is closed. Then the resturant turned into a night club. It was aweful. The worst part was the grade of sushi was very poor. I don't know how they make it. I was very disappointed.

We ate mostly sushi rolls and sashimi. We did have the calamari and chicken appetizer as well as some thai fried rice and soup. All very tasty. The fish is VERY fresh with great texture and flavor. The special rolls are very pricy about $20 - $30 each so it is an expensive restaurant for sushi for me and my two older kids. Maybe next time we'll cut down on the rolls and order entrees.

The food was excellent although servings were in odd numbers such as 3 for the lamb lollipops and the seared tuna 7 pieces, which is awkward for a date and the majority of tables appeared to be couples.

Our first trip to Dallas was a great success thanks to Mike and his staff at Kenichi! I had made a reservation via Open Table and asked that if they did anything special for birthdays (I.e. Cake, singing..) if they could do it for my husband's birthday. After our arrival our waiter took great care of us during our 2 hour stay at the restaurant. Mike the general manager came over three times and check on us and engaged in conversation with us about our home town, making us feel very at home. My husband was given a wonderful dessert on the house. When we return to Dallas we WILL be back to Kenichi! Huge thanks to ALL the staff and chefs!

Be sure to sit at the sushi bar. The chefs are engaging but not invasive. Ken and his crew are masters at knowing with whom to interact and not. Their skills as chefs are top tier. This place is exceptional. It does draw crowds alongside events at the AAC so schedule accordingly.

My husband and I booked a table at Kenichi via Open Table to grab dinner before the Adele concert at the AAC, which is walking distance from the restaurant. We showed up promptly at 7:00 (the time our reservation was scheduled for) & were told by the hostess that our table would be ready in 30 - 45 minutes but were welcome to find seats at the bar. When we told her we were in a hurry she explained people had been in the restaurant since 5:00 pm and had not left. She confirmed we would be "first in line" once a table opened. We were extremely frustrated at the lack of management at this restaurant- we have been at restaurants numerous times where the waiter has politely asked us to move along as they needed the table to accommodate an upcoming reservation. When we asked her if they could help move some of the guests along she referred to the partons as "mother F-ers" and complained about how they would not leave. After standing around for 15 min (and watching 3 other couples/groups be seated ahead of us) we were able to snag a spot at the bar. We immediately placed our order in hopes our food would come out fast so we could make it to the concert in time. We waited on our food for at least 30 min before asking the manager (who was hanging out and drinking with what looked like a private party upstairs) if he could check on our food. He promptly brought our 1 of our 3 sushi rolls, apologized, & headed back to his party. At this point the restaurant had pretty much cleared out as many of the patrons had left to go to the concert but we were still waiting on our remaining rolls. With 5 minutes to spare our sweet bartender ran back to the kitchen and returned with our rolls which we quickly scarfed down before running to the AAC- we sat down literally right before the show began. What was supposed to be an enjoyable meal turned into a very stressful one. Kenichi is not a cheap restaurant and I was very upset we were not able to enjoy such an expensive meal.

We had reservations the night of the Adele concert. The initial issue we had was the valet parking. I believe this was partially my fault, but needs to brought up. I waited in the valet line right next to Kenichi for 15 minutes only to find out it was the resident valet and not Kenichi's. Kenichi was a valet across the street but the black valet sign was positioned behind a truck so no one could see it. The Kenichi valet said that was a common mistake. It sounds like something could be corrected to fix the issue.

We made it on time for our reservation but still had to wait 15 minutes for a table. Understanding a concert was that night we were understanding, but gave us a time crunch to make it to the concert on time.

I had the sake mojito for a drink which I would highly recommend. For an appetizer the lobster dynamite is a must-have. Though the price was fairly expensive it was our favorite item we had. In addition to the lobster dynamite we had the Blake roll and chicken fried rice which were excellent. We would have ordered more but due to limited time we didn't.

Our server was polite, but was a little frantic. After receiving our drinks we only saw him towards the end our meal. That was a little frustrating since we requested sriracha for our fried rice on order placement and by the time we actually received the sauce our meal was done. If we're weren't pressed for time we would have requested to speak to the manager concerning the service.

If your looking for a quiet location, this is not the place. With a location close to the AAC, it is very crowded and loud.

The price of the food is somewhat expensive compared to other sushi restaurants. This in part may be due to the location of the restaurant.

Overall, the food quality was excellent however if your coming to the restaurant before the event you should allow at least 1 1/2 hours. This should provide you enough time to enjoy your meal and not feel rushed.

Worst sushi I have ever had. I would compare to gas station sushi - but worse. Spider roll appeared to be "day-old" and very unappetizing aesthetically. Salmon and tuna sashimi were not
fresh. Daikon smelled fishy. The premises and bathrooms were very dirty. "World class" sushi it is not. Unsure how this place stays is business.

Had dinner here with my daughter. She ordered sushi with the screaming sauce. She enjoyed it but also said it was very different from other sushi she has had in many different places and cities. I order the lamb lollipops appetizer, which was quite tasty, and the lobster mashed potatoes to go with it. The mashed potatoes were watery and tasteless. Very disappointing. Two glasses of wine and green tea ice cream for my daughter's dessert put the bill at about $100 before tip. It also took quite a long time for the waiter to check back with us and bring our bill at the end.

I really wanted to like Kenichi because the space decor is so chic and the location adventurous. It was surprisingly not happenin on a Saturday night. The lounge was empty. I asked for the booth but wow that section was "library" quiet. I was hoping to at least get cool music piped in. It started to get worse when they were out of white seaweed salad so I had to settle for pedestrian wakami. This would never happen at Tei-An. We hit rock bottom when they served the tuna sashimi special; it was stringy. Stringy! The cardinal sin of sushi! I don't recommend Kenichi and won't be coming back.
