Perhaps because it is off ski season or that it was snowing hard that it was so quiet. But the music was just loud enough to hear instead of forcing everyone to shout like most modern restaurants seem to think is good...when it's not. Service is classy & top notch and the food is the best of its kind we've ever had anywhere. It made our anniversary dinner one to remember.
I love the atmosphere at this restaurant. Also great food.
This is more a bar than a restaurant. Unbearably noisy, and with very poor service. Different waiters kept coming around, and one didn't know what the others were supposed to deliver. The sushi, however, was quite good, but not enough to make the overall experience worthwhile.
Awesome food and our server was extremely attentive and helpful.
Favorite sushi restaurant in Aspen!
We pop into kenichi a lot for dinner. Even if they’re booked it’s relatively easy to get seats at the sushi bar and it’s a very lively scene
Always Great, whether first time or 50th...consistency is the marquee
Food was amazing and the waiter was awesome!!!!! Super knowledgeable about the entire menu, and we even let him choose one of our entrees for us!
Wonderful in every aspect.
Fantastic food and great service from Derek - we will definitely be back! Spicy edamame, Dynamite shrimp, short ribs and rolls (Greentail and Blake!!) were all amazing.
Great food. Small portions/plates designed for sharing.
Sushi was excellent. Spicy edamame was an incredible twist on a common menu item.
Of course its expensive, its Aspen, but not really out of line for high-end Japanese.
Would absolutely eat here again.
Eggplant was awesome as were the ribs and oh yeah the black cod
Everyone enjoyed their meal including kids
Sushi chefs were a lot of fun and great personalities! Sat at the bar and had a blast!
We feel so good, we enjoy de food! I
Always a great meal at Kenichi! David was a fantastic server and offered our table a wonderful tasting menu!! Erica, the sommelier was also very helpful in choosing wines for our table! Love this place more than Matsuhisa!
A bit pricey but perhaps normal for Aspen scene. We are not sushi novices, but by no means experts. The flow of the meal and the ordering was a bit more effort than I experience with western meals. Menu was kind of complex and left us feeling kind of awkward. Everything else was great and the wait staff were super helpful.
Excellent sushi, and wine list. Great service.
absolutely great execution by the entire staff. top to bottom.
can't miss quality, and delicious food.
Unmissable when in Aspen, especially if you love truffles! Order the cheese fondue with the truffles. Reserve well in advance!
This was our second visit to Kenichi . We were coming from toronto and asking for a very specific table and we were pleased to see our 4 seats available and saved even though the place was packed. Love the food, love the service. Missed communicating with the chef this time but got a chance to say hi just before he left for the evening.
Yum. The food here is creative and delicious. I’m still thinking of the dynamite shrimp. Yum.
This was ok. We enjoy our japenese very much and this restaurant just seemed to be the most average food you can get.
Good food, but way too expensive!
The food was excellent and our sever gave great suggestions. Had mixed emotions going in because of some of the negative reviews. I would definitely go back. The black cod and eggplant were amazing. Had other dishes and rolls as well, but those two stood out. I would also recommend the tempura ice cream.
Nice sushi roll creations and other small plates
Kenichi is one of the better restaurants in Aspen. Food is always high-quality and people-watching is incredible. Definitely on the expensive side, but not outrageous, depending on what you order. Definitely need a reservation in season. Would highly recommend.
With 4 people in our party, food came out separately for 3 people. 4th persons veggy roll never came after 1 hour. Sushi chefs went from slow to slower with little regard for orders
Waiter repeatedly apologized, however eventually we just asked for bill and left (without getting veggy roll)
The food was outstanding, and the service was excellent.
Our reservation was for 7pm. We sat down at 7pm and ordered a lot of food Our food came so fast and they didn’t give us a chance to enjoy it by trying to remove plates before we were finished. We were done and bill paid by 7:30pm. We had no chance to enjoy our food as we were pressured to eat quickly and get out. Very expensive dinner for 30 min.
Great. Best sushi in Aspen.
Fantastic sushi , great service from a friendly staff.
Every trip to Aspen must include a meal at Kenichi. Fresh great food, always great service, fun place.
Acceptable across the board. Not memorable but certainly acceptable.
Food good as ever but shocking service. Hopefully will get better as the ski season moves on
Love this place-high quality sushi and less scene than Matsuhisa.
We did not have the best experience this time at Kenichi. The service was bad and it is cold and a bit dark. The drinks/saki are over priced as well.
Have dined here before and always enjoyed it. Took 40 minutes for server to take our order. Food came out inconsistently. Appetizer after entree. No apologies. Need to rethink visiting again
The first time we came a few years ago it was very good. This recent visit was disappointing. Service was terrible, soup was cold and the sushi tasted like it had been made beforehand. Dynamite shrimp was good that's about it.
Loved the hot plates and sashimi. Sushi rolls and dessert where not the best.
