Kenichi Aspen Ratings and Reviews
Food was great. We sat at the sushi bar, so our server was not fully serving us. We ordered sushi from the chef and anything else from our server, but she wasn't always around. For our special occasion, I would have sat at a table for better service. Blake roll was amazing!!
Wonderful sushi. Not the maot extensive menu, but nough, and the staff were willing improvise/substitute. Everything was very fresh, and wonderfully done. Good specialty rolls and appetzers, and the staff were fantastic. Great service (though we were there at an off-hour). Not cheap, but sushi of this quality never is, and I whought that we got very godd value. I would definitely go back.
Arguably the most twilight zone dining experience I've ever had. So much went wrong in the way of service, there is not enough space here to write it down. Our server was completely out of it and was inaudible. He forgot that he had already introduced himself and took our food & drink order, came back 10 minutes later and intro'd himself again, we told him he'd already done that so, he argued, we laughed and asked if he had a twin working because we swear it was you and it was. We placed our order again and I suggested he might want to check with the kitchen so he doesn't double up on anything, he didn't and of course they did as he spaced talking with us and taking our order. No water, soy sauce, asked 3 times for a glass to go with the beer that was ordered, ordered a carafe of sake and a single serving came out. another server would run her fingers and then tap her nails across our table every time she would pass by....I got up and asked the hostess if I could speak to the MOD and she said she was. I wasn't really sure if she was or not, but she did do a good job of trying to win us over. Unfortunately, it was too late to be salvaged. 1/3 of the food order was doubled, 1/3 what was what was ordered, 1/3 was a no show. What we ate was tasty, the service was horrendous, so disappointed.
Sashimi was excellent
The rolls were not, very rice heavy-very little inside
Service was lousy, we were given edamame and drinks very quickly
Then forgotten about
Ordered just apps first under the advice of our server
Brought to our table quite sometime later
Then finally order rolls and dinner
The food was amazing! so amazing, i brought my mother back three days later just for the veggie options. by far the best dishes were the eggplant and the crispy tofu though the beet salad was fabulous and the spicy edamame were to die for!! my friends all had sushi and we're very happy. on thursday night we had a waiter who talked a little too loud and too fast but our waiter (doug) on sunday night was fabulous. kenichi was amazing for the sushi and non sushi lovers alike!
What a gem in Aspen, CO! The sashimi and sushi was some of the best pieces of fish I have ever had. The waitress was great at putting together a fun meal for us, and also knew the wine list inside and out. They could have used more reasonably priced sparkling wine options however - this is an area for improvement. While not cheap by any means, it was definitely more reasonably priced than other high end Aspen dining options. Landing the corner "rock star table" was also icing on the cake. Would love to go there once a week if I lived nearby.
Food was great. Service was terrible. We didn't get much of what we ordered, couldn't find waiter for much of the evening so had to grab bus boy to order. It was a bit ridiculous-since they were not extremely busy. Would recommend Maru or matsuhisa for a better experience.
Kenichi is always a stop for us when in Aspen. Really great sushi and japanese food in general. Good for family, couple, young, old. The food is terrific, service fantastic, atmosphere fun and festive. Not as stuffy as other sushi places. The game is on in the bar too.
We are regulars and love the food. Everything was great but the service was terrible. Our waiter Runt was either inexperienced or he had too many tables. Had to chase down bus boys to clear the dishes and had to grab Runt to order more food and another bottle of wine. He kept reminding us that it would take at least a half hour if you ordered a roll. The manager came by and kept telling me he would take care of "it".
The food was excellent, however the service was very spotty. We ordered drinks, appetizers and the children's food (no kid's menu; you have to order off the main menu). Kids' food was $29 each for the grilled chicken and we had to pay extra for a side of rice. Runners brought the kids' food fairly quickly, except it was on sizzling hot plates. We had to ask someone to plate it on regular plates so our kids wouldn't burn themselves. We got our appetizers and then didn't see our waiter for 30 minutes. We had to ask several employees where our waiter was so we could order our main entree. The sushi was very good; very fresh. For a $300 bill, the service should have been much better than it was.
The food and table service were - as usual - excellent. Love that they have Kistler wine on the menu (and long may it remain that way).
We had a late booking at 9pm and when we arrived the hostess at the entrance was on the phone obviously on a difficult phone call.
However, she ignored us for 10 minutes and remarkably none of the other waiting staff stepped in to help even though there was a queue amassing at the front door.
Come on guys, just because it is late and you're busy there's no need to get sloppy. We were only in Aspen for the weekend (from London) and due to our treatment on arrival it wasn't quite the experience we have had in the past.
We love absolutely everything about Kenichi. We dine here every time we come to the mountains.. The menu with all its specialty dishes , consistently prepared with the freshest and tastiest ingredients and the friendly knowledgeable team all go towards making this the best evening out in Aspen.
