We go for their cilantro encrusted halibut and their bread. Always wonderful and a good value. Thank you Lacey for the terrific service!
Our waiter Damien was so personable, friendly and professional and just a GREAT waiter all the way around. He recognized quickly we were from Texas because of my accent, (haha) and welcomed us to Colorado! We were visiting downtown Durango after having skied Purgatory all week and wanted a place to try out for a nice dinner. We were seated in the corner to the right of the entry door and we met and also chatted with a local couple from the area while waiting for our food to arrive. They were awesome and gave us ideas for things to do while in town. I ordered the special of the day which was: 8 oz ribeye cutlets on top of homemade garlic pasta with pesto sauce, crunchy arugula and goat cheese crema and my husband ordered the pork tenderloins wrapped in bacon dish with cider red cabbage slaw, sweet mashed potatoes with molasses sauce. OMG - the food was incredible! We ended with sharing their chocolate molten cake with coconut ice cream and it was awesome as well. We travel a lot and I’m the “foodie” between the 2 of us, so I really love trying new places to dine. I would highly recommend this restaurant and be sure to ask for Damien. Only thing I’m disappointed about, was that I didn’t take pictures of our plates as presented. We were too caught up in conversation and I forgot but they were beautiful and appetizing.
Good service, good food, good drinks, good price. Xxxyyyzzz
We were on vacation and this place was highly recommended. I can see why. We were warmly welcomed when we walked in, and even though we were early, our table was ready with menus and filled water glasses. The great background music and low lighting made this a very romantic spot. Every bite of our food was wonderful and Gabe took such good care of us. If we are ever in this area of New Mexico again, we will absolutely be back. We loved everything about it.
Always good - especially Tuesday scallop night (shh, don’t tell everyone!).
Favorite restaurant. Food is always excellent as is the service.
The food was amazing like always! Our waitress Ashley was so awesome. She recommended we try the Filet Minion Egg Roll appetizer so we did and it was incredible. She was friendly and knowledgeable. Summer was great as well, she is always such a ray of sunshine and smiles when we come in. What a warm atmosphere! My husband and I had a wonderful first night out away from our baby! Thanks Ken and Sues!!!
My wife & I had a great time!! Food was fantastic & service was great!! A little snug in the seating department,I kept getting hit when people would walk by cuz it was a tight squeeze between me & the wall! I definitely wouldn't bring children to here though they had a menu for them!! But overall it was a wonderful evening!!
Our favorite Durango restaurant. Great food. Crusted Sea Bass to die for. Exceptional service. Jessica is a gem.
Love this restaurant! Try to come here every time I am in Durango. Try the Calamari. It is creatively different and delicious. Make it a place you visit when in Durango!
Waitress was Jessica, she was fabulous. All the food and beverage was great as usual. This is our favorite lunch/dinner location in all Durango. Consistently great.
Even though we had an early reservation, he place was jammed, a good sign. It’s was too noisy for us, but the food was excellent.
Every time we go to Ken and Sue's you know what you are getting! Great food and great service!
Birthday. Got seated next to bar which was probably the worse table in the house. Excellent service. Had the Friday special prime rib. Large portion. Very good quality and preparation.
Wonderful as usual. Love this place for casual/classy business lunches.
The Martinis weren't great, we had to send back out first one. Mixed drinks were ok. Pork Belly app was soo good! Salmon flat bread in my opion had too much lettuce and lacked a decent amount of Salmon. The sweet potato gnocchi sounded creative and was just ok. I would return to try other items as the review for this place have always been great.
As always an excellent dinner, menu selections, service, and atmosphere which make for a great casual dinner or special occasion. Have never been disappointed at Ken and Sue. My favorite dinners are the plank salmon any night or the Wednesday evening salmon special - both are excellent.
We always stop at Ken and Sue’s when we are in Durango. Food is exceptional, wine by the glass list is very good and service is outstanding.
The owner was Hosting, and treated us like royalty. The staff are very pleasant and the food was very good and a great value!
We went here to my special birthday dinner while on vacation in Durango Co. . We made reservations (which is highly recommended ) and were seated right when we walked in . Our waitress was prompt and super nice . We ordered the Filet Mignon , lobster mashed potatoes, spinach . PHENOMENAL! I had the raspberry martini which was wonderful as well . As we were both stuffed full , we ordered the dessert to go . White chocolate cheesecake which was delectable ! We sampled several restaurants while visiting Durango , but this place was by far our favorite!! :)
I loved my salad (walnut, gorgonzola, etc.) but my companion diners both said their meat was overcooked. Other than that, everything was great, and we'll definitely return.
Ordered some appetizers and entrees - everything was good but the fish, which was overcooked (enough that my friend could tell while I was eating it that is was not flaking off easily). It wasn't fresh. Every few bites were slightly fishy....I couldn't finish it. I order fish a lot so am certainly not a fish "newbie" -- was disappointed in the whole dish, since the sides were far from spectacular too. My friend enjoyed her meal, and the appetizers were good (greasy, but good). Good service, good noise level, but probably not my first choice when I go out next time.
Ken and Sue's is one of the best restaurants in Durango
We are a little bias since every time we come to Durango we automatically setup reservations for every night at Ken & Sue's.. The wait staff and management give it a personal touch and even though we come to Durango once a year the staff that's been around for awhile always remembers us.. The food is always excellent and we've had each item more than once over the years (We've been doing this for about 6 to 7 years now). So if you are in town for one day or more I would highly recommend you at least eat here once.. We love this place!!!!
Our server Mark, was better than prior servers, being very attentive and anticipatory to any need, personable, friendly, courteous (which is rare in Durango). Dinner was served in a timely
manner, there was no waiting for him on anything. I'll ask for him in the future. Others have been good to not good at all, so hopefully K&S will recognize this importance. The music is always too loud, forcing customers to strain to hear conversation and need to raise their voices to be heard. Music is a part of the dining experience, if I want a loud bar, I'll go to a loud bar. It would be nice if pleasant background music was a consistent K&S quality. I am glad for this opportunity to point out, in addition, that Durango has a nasty habit of their 'servers' also bussing tables, a certain spread of germs and contamination, then delivering dinners. K&S does this as well, hope you rethink that. Otherwise, we enjoy your restaurant.
Another great meal at Ken and Sue's! Been here several times and were in town with some friends who have never been to Durango. One is gluten free. Menu clearly shows what is GF and had many dishes to choose from. Our server, Sara, was excellent and the food was perfection. Excellent value. I highly recommend it and we consider this a staple for dining out when we are in Durango.
We went for a birthday dinner; food special was excellent; good options for food and drinks. Great downtown location.
Excellent food at reasonable prices (for Durango at least). You must get a reservation, it fills up quickly.
Food was excellent. They were very accommodating when it came to my food allergies. They don’t change how food is prepared (for example the sweet potato smasher have cream and butter; they wouldn’t specially make it without) but they helped me navigate the menu to pick and choose items that were GF and DF.
This was our 3rd visit to Ken and Sue's. It never disappoints. We went to celebrate my husband's birthday and it was delightful. We will definitely go again.
We were seated waiting on another person, which we told the hostess. When he arrived he was told we were not there so he walked around to surrounding stores looking for us. Just completely rude. Food was over cooked.
It was our first time and anniversary dinner. Was excited to dine there. No desire to return
It was good. I don’t believe it’s worth the hype of being the best in town because we actually had a better meal elsewhere. The appetizers were good( especially the calamari) . The menu was impressive and I was so excited about steak and lobster mashed potatoes but the steak (filet mignon) was tough and underdone. Good service. We were at an awkwardly placed table but glad we weren’t out on the patio in the tents they have set it for the winter. I don’t think I’d rush back next time I’m in town.
As locals, this remains our favorite restaurant in Durango. The food is always exceptional, and there are always several good gluten free options. Even with the marvelous food, they somehow keep the prices quite reasonable. We like to celebrate special occasions here; we feel like we’ve splurged without overspending. Do reserve in advance or you might miss out!
Wonderful as always, but I'm pretty sure that was drip coffee in a demitasse and not espresso. )
All the food except for the salads was interesting and delicious. The salads were large but flavorless. The waiter was fun and it was a good evening. I loved the calamari and the mussels. Yummy!
Dinner was excellent as always. This was the first time that I tried the mussels appetizer. It was absolutely delicious! I will definitely try that again.
If you have kids their kids menu is fantastic. If you don't it is above average. Good stuff will come again!
We had excellent dishes and a knowledgeable helpful waiter. Excellent service. It was a lot of fun with a large varied menu.
A delicious meal, We had the Wed. Salmon special, and a great take on the Calimari appetizer. A fine follow up with the white chocolate cheesecake and coffee. Great service and a fine start to an evening with Tony Furtado across the street at the Strader. A very pleasant evening. Highly recommended. DC
I don't really have a lot of feelings about this dinner...but the few I do have are: the dining area smelled strongly of fish, the meatloaf was returned and credited to my bill, and the feel is very 2004. I hesitate to complain because it's fair priced. I guess I leave it at, I just don't need to go again.
