Located next to the Marriot Renaissance Hotel in downtown San Diego, Kelvin Restaurant specializes in American cuisine. It is an elegant eatery with bright modern d�cor and artistic lights that serves breakfast and brunch as well as lunch and dinner.

Guests can start their day with steel cut oatmeal br�l�e, smoked salmon with bagel, sweet potato pancakes or other specials alongside with a glass of freshly squeezed juice, a smoothie or a bottomless cup of coffee. Service was great and it was early in the evening around 6pm so it was very quiet. Veggie risotto was OK and Salmon was good. It was very quiet in a quiet business district for downtown SD on a Friday night. Good for a hotel restaurant but also overpriced like one.

This is our second time in the restaurant and third time at this location. We found eating in the restaurant is much better than the lounge area. Even though there are only a few selections on the menu we found everything we tried was excellent. The music in both locations was quirky, but not too loud in the restaurant while we dined compared to the lounge area.

Great place. We'd return again. When we arrived, we were the only other couple in the restaurant. We chose to sit outside instead because of the weather. Great location, great service, and good food. We used the Travelzoo Deal and thought that it was worth the money.

The service was wonderful and very intimate. From the moment i walked in...both the host and server made me feel very welcome. The menu is limited, but everything i tried was delicious. Sweet potato fries with the chipotle ranch were delicious. We sat outside with our dogs and they brought out treats and water for them. Close to home and 1000 point tables...I'll be coming here often!!! :D

Kind service and great portions, nice ambiance but small beer selection. Maybe next time I'll visit Kelvin for dinner

It's a shame what has happened to this restaurant as far as the quality of food goes. We used to eat dinner here once a week for the great food and great service. Well, the service is still great, but the quality of the food has significantly deteriorated although the prices remain high. This restaurant needs a new chef.

My husband and I enjoyed a relaxing evening of dining at Kelvin. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the Avocado Tempura appetizers. My husband had the Kelvin Burger, which was good, but too pricey at $18. We liked the parmesan sprinkled fries that came with it. I had the pork dish (name escapes me) and was so tender.

We had a most wonderful, intimate, gourmet meal at this cute modern restaurant inside the W Hotel. To our surprise, we were the only couple dining on a Saturday night at 6 PM. What a shame. The beet, frisee and goat cheese salad was fab, seared ahi and scallop carbonara dishes both delicious and artfully presented. Perhaps the W's uptown location and nearby construction has turned off diners, but you are indeed missing out on a quaint, reasonably priced, gourmet dinner in a uniquely chic room, augmented by cool adult chill music. We will most definitely return the next time we visit San Diego.

We loved the contemporary decor and vibrant colors. The staff were all friendly and attentive. The food was tasty and would satisfy even the most persnickety foodie. However, the drinks and food are both way overpriced. The restaurant doesn't offer happy hour and cocktails are $15. Entrees were about $19 to $38, but most were in the mid to upper $20's. Also, I'm not certain, but I think we paid some sort of hotel tax though we weren't staying at the hotel. For these reasons I am unlikely to return. This is probably a great spot for travelers with their company per diem.

We waited a long time to initial get service. Our brunch was very expensive. The portions were very small. My bloody mary was all tomatoe juice. For 12 dollars it should have some alcohol.

We can always depend on Kelvin for a great meal. The food is fairly rich, but delicious. I always start with the Frisée and Beet Salad and usually move on to the delicious Crispy Salmon with Farro. The specials are always terrific, especially the Diver Scallops with mushroom risotto. Jeffrey is the consummate waiter who makes us want to keep coming back.

Best thing about this place was the Bloodies and they were a 6/10, the food was nothing one can't do at home with minimal experience and the cost of such basic food is high for the quality of what is given. I would not recommend this place really to anyone.
