Kelsey's Restaurant, Irish Pub, Banquet Room Ratings and Reviews
We went to Kelsey's for Brunch and we're overall pleased. Service was very attentive and accommodating. A couple people in our party were late and they were nice about it. Food was good--no complaints but nothing very special either. Portion size was good and found the pricing reasonable. We were passing through the area and were happy to stumble onto a decent place.
Kelsey's is our neighborhood "Cheers". Friendly, reliably consistent. The chicken pot pie is always wonderful. The meatloaf always filling, a true "comfort food" selection and delicious. The corned beef with cabbage was beautiful, lean and perfect for Howard County Restaurant Week. Beer and wine selections were great. My friend's Cosmo was a very pretty choice. We love Kelsey's!
Service was outstanding! The service team paid special attention to my profile for shellfish allergy and actually made a point to discuss. Turns out the person with the allergy did not make the meeting.
Food came out on time, drinks stayed replenished and waitress stayed engaged. Two of us are veggies only and the dish prepared was very tasty.
We ended up staying about 1.5 beyond our planned time and the organization did not rush us out after we paid the bill. Instead, they continued to service us and check in.
Well done. We will be back for future meetings.
There was nothing special or inviting about the decor. The service made up for that. Our server was very attentive. We didn’t have to wait to place our order or for our food to arrive. The restaurant was crowded at the time. The food was great too. The choices for the prix fixe menu were great.
Good food, great quality for price. Very attentive service but not annoying. Met friends that we hadn't seen for a while. Had good meal and not rushed to clear the table. Was able to visit and have conversation at a normal volume. (When was the last time you could have a regular conversation at a normal volume?). Seating comfortable. Easy to make reservations.
The food was great - love the "new" menu (I haven't been there in a year, probably). I was so pleased with the large number of interesting salad options. Several raved about the Black and Bleu salad, and 4 of us got the salad with the fried brie wedges (because after seeing those three words next each other, we could barely look at the rest of the menu - yum). The menu is more varied than I remember it being. The dining room was clean and quiet. The lighting is great -- not too dark like many restaurants tend to be these days, but not too bright either. And it was decorated for the holidays with white lights and pointsettias, which was really lovely!
Our book club group was thoughtfully tucked in the back corner of the dining room. Our sweet and professional server even split the check for us -- a generous and helpful offer which saved us much confusion and angst! She was terrific. We will be back (with or without book club discussion). Thanks so much!!
The restaurant was very good. My husband's prime rib specials was excellent and my burger was extremely good. However, we used a Groupon, and at first they refused to honor the Groupon because they said the "fine print" did not include specials. I was very disappointed because we had driven quite a ways just to use the Groupon and would not have another opportunity to come back before its expiration. The manager then came out and said that they would honor it just this once. She sounded like she was doing us a huge favor - I then showed her the "fine print" on the app that showed the only exclusion was holidays. There was nothing about specials not being included. While I liked the food, I didn't like the attitude. Plus I informed the hostess when we were seated that we had a Groupon and we were not advised of any exclusions.
We had an exceptional evening at Kelsey's this visit. Two of us ordered the chicken pot pie and it was everything we had hoped for. The meatloaf was comfort food at it's best.
The guys ordered the beer flight, which they enjoyed and said they would do it again. The special Bloody Mary was a hit for someone who always orders this drink wherever she dines. My glass of Wente Chardonnay was as delicious as I remembered.
Thank you Kelsey's for a lovely, memorable evening enjoyed by four longtime friends.
Soooo happy you brought the chicken pot pie back! It was better than I remembered. The roasted beet salad is something I will definitely order again also. Pretty noisy that night. Could not hear our friends talking right across the table. Looking forward to our next dinner at Kelsey's.
Great atmosphere. Every one was friendly. They worked as a team which is great. Our server was attentive & friendly. We had Sunday brunch. The veggie omelet was great b/c it didn't have broccoli. The potatoes had some salsa with a kick that was amazing. Bacon was crispy. I can't wait to have Sunday brunch here again.
We were sat immediately upon arrival, but did not see any service for several minutes. Finally a manager asked if we had been helped. When we said no he took our drink orders and said he would send a server over. Very soon afterwards our waiter appeared with our drinks.
My spouse ordered the corned beef burger which sounded delicious, but did not live up to expectations. It had some weird seasoning and did not taste like corned beef to with of us. She actually sent it back because the waiter noticed she was not eating it and asked if she wanted to send it back. She then got corned beef sandwich this corned beef was very tasty.
I had the fish and chips. The cod was certainly crunchy due to the unique and tasty batter they us and the chips had a great flavor. I might not get it if we go back because I want to try the Shepard's pie. But I would recommend it.
We had dinner at Kelsey's because we had a Living Social coupon. Dinner was OK; nothing to either rave or complain about. Our service was a little slow. If you get a side salad, the house salad is much better than the Caesar. My crab cake was plentiful but not very flavorful. My husband's meat loaf was burned on the outside of a good portion of it.
Have been there several times for dinner and to watch sporting events and the food is always good. Alcohol prices are a little higher than competitors in the area though.
The most recent visit was for brunch and the service and food was very good. I'll defiantly return.
My visit to Ellicott City after having been away for three and a half years was made quite yummy with our first lunch at Kelsey's. The food was awesome for everyone, and we were able to converse comfortably. The Irish music playing in the background included many favorite pieces, including some that I have played with Celtic groups through the years. Thanks for making our get together very special!
Good restaurant with a wide variety of food options. Various drink specials and good selection of options for everyone to consider. Typical bar food but has some unique Irish options to consider and we would definitely go back. Good for a family or a casual night out.
Dinner was delicious. There were 4 of us and 3 of the 4 ordered burgers. I had fish & chips that were delicious and there were 2 nice pieces of fish with a fair amount of fries. The others said their burgers were very good. One person ordered the crab soup and really enjoyed it, she did said it was a little spicy but that's how she likes it.
