Keg & Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
This is one of my favorite restaurants in South Jersey. Our meal on New Year's Eve was beyond my expectations. I have come to expect a more limited selection of food choices with moderate results on New Year's Eve, however, in the case of The Cork this was not ture. The lamb blew me away. This might have been the best lamb that I have ever had. The meat and cheese plate for 2 was out of this world.
I've always heard such wonderful things about Cork. Having just left a show-I checked OpenTable and it was the only decent restaurant open for an 8:30pm Sunday seating. Upon arrival, the football game was on and that crowd was quite rowdy. There was cursing and yelling--unfit for a Sunday dinner. Our meals came out-one was cold and dry (like it had been sitting for an hour) while the other was perfect. Had to eat alone while it took them 30 mins to remake the cold dish. Very unprofessional waitstaff. While the food itself was fantastic (even the dish that they had to remake!) I will not return to spend $30/plate+ for a bad experience.
We had a business seminar there and the food and service were top notch. Each of our clients commented on wonderful and well prepared the food was, especially the salmon with mango chutney. The staff was attentive and the owners made it a special event by taking time to prepare. Cork's side room is great for parties or business meetings.
I enjoy going out to dinner early in the week; it allows me to really see the restaurant. This was a nice dinner. The atmosphere was relaxed, the menu had a good range (from mac & cheese to duck), and the specialty drink menu was quit a selection. The seating options I really loved, as they gave you a choice of tone-down sports bar, cozy secluded booths or standard wood tables. Much of the menu had foods with many added extras for those who have a vast palate.
I made reservations, requesting a table for two. When we arrived they acted as if they never heard from me. We were seating at a table, next to the partition next to the bar, even though there was another room with empty tables. We were finally seated in an enclosed booth. This did block the noise. The food was excellent, priced on the upper end for the quanity of food we received We enjoyed seafood. The small dish had more seafood than the llarge entre. The service was good. When it was time to leave we waited and waited to receive our check. The owner coming around got our check, and finally we were able to pay.I would stop again, if I were in the area, and we had no less than two hours to eat.
This our second visit to Cork, and I must say it has made a much improved change since it first opened. Beautiful place. The bar has an energetic city buzz, great spot for locals to gather. The food was good although , pricey, small portions, at times a bit over seasoned. The wait staff appeared to be overworked, maybe some call outs the night we were there? In any case seemed like they could use more staff. The staff that was on did a good job of attending to customer's needs, even if a bit slow. We will go back again, this time to experience the bar scene which seems to be the place to be!
Food was great. The place came off a little too posh for what i was expecting. Unless you are in the room away from the main room, it was too loud for a comfortable dinner conversation. I almost felt as if the restaraunt was trying too hard. All that being said, the food was awesome and service was great. Had a great time. Turn down the music and the posh scheme a little, it's not NYC, and you got yourself a gem.
We went to Cork using a gift certificate given to us. It was extremely pleasurable. The staff was accommodating when we asked for a booth rather than an open table (it was our anniversary). We started with drinks which was daunting since the beer and wine list is so extensive. We then chose the Korean beef tacos for appetizers, they were amazing, spicy yet sweet, with sliced beef inside. I choose the Miso Salmon for my entree, $19 and worth it. My husband choose the Angus burger which came with fries ($11) and he enjoyed every bite. He was concerned about the size when ordering because it was on the light/bar portion of the menu, but portion was large.
Great Happy hour, they took over where Kitchen 233 turned into a bad pizza joint. Great selection of Beer, Wine and Cocktails. Great value friendly happy hour Menu for Really good food and selection. And the Happy hours are until 7:30 They also started a Brunch with Make your own Bloody Mary's. It fun make your own and try different ingredients.
The overall experience was pleasant. My hubby and I did feel rushed however. There was literally no time in between our courses;our time spent at Cork was one hour and 15 minutes/barely enough time to enjoy more than one beer. The restaurant had many empty tables, there was no reason to try to turn them over!
The food was very good. We especially enjoyed the Thai meatballs, the pot stickers, and the shrimp mac and cheese. Service was fine, except we felt our food came out a bit soon - just as we had finished the preceding course. The restaurant is very modern looking, with clean lines and muted colors. The music level at first was so loud we had to shout across the table until other patrons beat us to it and asked them to turn it down. And this was in a side room.
We would return, but perhaps not on a weekend night.
Korean tacos so tasty, you wish there were more. Calamari just the right combo of sweet & hot. Short ribs that melted in your mouth on a bed of yummy, cheesy grits. Only downfall was the chewy/tough steak served with sprouts that were actually too hard to bite. Service,as always, was attentive without being intrusive.
This is a tough review. There are good things and bad things about this restaurant. Positives: First, Our waitress was fantastic, she was so nice and attentive, cannot say enough about the service. Second, The food tasted great, it was awesome. Now, negatives: First, the portions are too small for the price you are paying. Second, We went on Saturday night and there was no jazz music, this was pretty much the reason we came to the restaurant. We heard it was super popular for jazz music and a great night out. We were told the band canceled for the evening. My feeling is that, as a reputable restaurant, you should do something to make up for it, maybe a complimentary drink, or a gift certificate to return to the restaurant.
I ARRIVED AT 4:30PM BEFORE MY OTHER GUEST AND I SAT THE BAR. THE BARTENDER WAS VERY NICE AND MADE ME A COUPLE OF GREAT PEACHES & CREAM MARTINIS. I ALSO ORDERED OFF THE HAPPY HOUR MENU SALT & PEPPER CALAMARI AND IT WAS OUTSTANDING . THIS IS MY THIRD TIME COMING TO CORK IN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!
