Kefi Ratings and Reviews
Excellent food and outstanding service - for a great price. We had a reservation for 6 at 630p. Even though the place was packed we were seated immediately and on time.
Friendly hostesses, great staff - attentive and alert. And did I mention that the food was amazing...? Fun place with loads of energy! Enjoy!
excellent Greek food, moderately priced.
friendly service. the back room is definitely quieter than the front.
the food in my experience is consistently good, although on definitely on the saltier side.
I had the hangar steak which was very flavorful, and perfect for a low carb option.
I don't live in the area anymore, but I still trek to the UWS to eat here. The food is beyond amazing. At this point, I've had the menu, but I LOVE the spreads, rabbit pasta, octopus, meatballs, sausage, and probably another 10 items. The waitstaff is ultra friendly and helpful, especially when it comes to recommendations. It's always a wonderful experience, even when I bring a large party for a birthday. I hope Kefi never changes
The dining experience wasn't very intimate. They were putting our entrees on our little table before we had finished our apps. Too rushed. The food is good - no doubt, but it would be great if they would take a little more care in not making you feel like you're eating at a factory.
Fantastic greek food on the upper west side. Service was a bit slow, and it was a bit crowded, but the food was delicious, especially the mac and cheese, which was a great surprise. Recommended if you are in the neighborhood, but not really worth a long trip.
This was my 3rd time at Kefi all on Saturday. The food was as good as ever however the service was a bit inattentive at time: had to wait for all of us to have our appetizer plates cleared and also wait for steak knives. Very crowded, as usual, for an early Saturday evening. Would like to try on another night of the week and next time later when there are not so many (crying)children.
The food is not your typical Mediterranean Greek fare, but quite inventive. My son thought the Octopus was amazing. The rest of our dishes were very good. Dishes are not large, but we were all quite full. The restaurant's new location is huge--under the one-store-wide top floor a cavernous basement, nice decorated. The waitress told us the restaurant can fit 200. And it was almost entirely full at 7 p.m. on a Friday night. There were couples and large parties and families with kids.
We have only two slight criticisms: the restaurant is way to noisy for people to have a relaxing dinner. People ate and left. That brings me to the prices: at over $120 for four people, four beers, one appetizer, I would have liked to feel welcome to linger.
This is my 3rd time and I still have not had a dish that was bad. One weird thing was they made one of our party stand outside on the snowiest day I've ever experienced to wait for the restaurant to open. They have a great price fix. The service is spotty but the food is so delicious and affordable it's easy to overlook.
On both occasions (a Saturday night four people pre-opera dinner, and a Friday night nine people dinner) Kefi was a great destination. The waitstaff is very nice, helpful, and knowledgeable, the food is generously portioned and delicious, and the space is charming. You absolutely need reservations though - the wait on busy nights like Friday and Saturday is about an hour. Coming with a large group afforded an opportunity to try a little bit of almost everything on the menu, and I liked everything I've had there. Would specifically recommend the lamb shank, branzino, the spreads, meatballs and sweetbreads. Galaktobouriko for dessert. I will surely be back.
The food here is exceptional and I am not alone in thinking so...the restaurant is always packed. Sit upstairs to avoid the much louder lower level seating. We had some bad luck with a less than enthusiastic waiter on our last visit but the food will bring us back.
A first rate neighborhood restaurant featuring classic Greek dishes and truly interesting variations on that theme. Service was friendly, accommodating, and prompt. We ate in the cozy downstairs, arriving by six p.m. when the restaurant was quiet. When we left it was bustling, and quite noisy, especially upstairs.
The food is excellent and great value. The decor is charming. Waiters are knowledgeable and responsive. But the noise level is deafening - so best to arrive early and leave by 8. Also the heat from the kitchen fills the back room, so for any comfort at all, ask to be seated up front near the bar.
