Keens is as Old New York as it gets.. Open since 1885, this steakhouse is pretty much the Museum of Natural Meat Eating History.
Great food. Amazing service. Nice atmosphere and not too noisy. Perfect for a business lunch.
Keen's had been on the bucket list for a long time and didn't disappoint. Food was spectacular throughout, service was unobtrusive was excellent. Went to catch up with an old friend and it exceeded my expectations. A classic spot that earns its reputation.
Bacon appetizer is amazing. Perfectly cooked steaks.
Great steak, great ambiance, and overall service. Took my friend here on a Sunday night, and we truly enjoyed the food, decor, and service. Definitely recommend this for a nice time.
Great atmosphere! Service and food On a 1 to 10 scale was about seven
I’ve been to Keens several times and each time I fall in love! One, if not the best steakhouse in nyc.
Excellent. The best steakhouse ever!
Very nice atmosphere!
Traveling frequently to New York, our first night is always at one of the many great steakhouses in the city. This was our first time at Keens, having made a reservation 6 weeks prior.
We were greeted at the reception stand and seated within a few minutes. Our waiter did his job just fine, but that was evident; it was a job to him. Zero personality. I'll chalk that up to one waiter out of many in the establishment, but it was clear he simply went through the motions. (He's the guy who resembles a young Gene Shalit!)
My wedge salad was amazing, perhaps the best I have ever had (2 wedges, beautifully prepared with amazing dressing and thick cut bacon.)
My wife enjoyed very much her 8oz filet. No complaints.
I ordered the T-bone, which was cooked to a perfect medium, as I ordered it. It was huge...24ozs. However, it was an extremely average cut of meat with an inordinate amount of fat in it. And, it was barely seasoned which rendered it quite flavorless. For $59.
The vegetable sides we ordered has clearly been sitting for a length of time as they were incredibly unwhelming.
For a total bill of nearly $300, we expected much more. Among all of the steakhouses we've been to...and we've been to many...Gallagher's is the go-to place for a consistently great meal, great wait staff and classic atmosphere.
Excellent as always
Greeted and shown to a lovely quiet table upstairs. It was just what we needed after a busy day. The food and service were excellent. I don’t think you can go wrong at Keen’s.
My wife and I met a college buddy of mine for dinner on Friday. We were seated in the second floor dining room, underneath the huge painting of the tiger.
As always, the service was terrific. At Keens, the entire wait staff works as a team to ensure that guests never want for anything for very long.
As usual, I ordered s mutton chop cooked medium rare. It was perfect; tasty, delicious, tender and juicy.
Keens is my favorite steakhouse and the mutton chop is my favorite hunk of meat. Do yourself a favor and go.
Great meal overall! Got the Filet. Best filet I’ve had
I was in fortunately sat next to an angry rude Patron. It was quite distracting for my meal but despite that unfortunate incident the food was really amazing. I ordered the prime rib medium rare it was perfectly cooked. Will definitely go again.
The Bar Tenders are exceptional. The Restaurant service has few; if any, peers. The food is consistently very very good. Always anticipate a return when I visit NYC.
Best PRIME RIB OF BEEF in New York City.
It is close to good transportation and has a
menu with plenty variety.
Great atmosphere, wine and food! What else can we ask for.. had the mutton chop, porterhouse for 2, and prime rib sirloin steak!
We were visiting my daughter who recommended your restaurant. We are from CA, she lives in New York City.
Great for that 'I need red meat' attack. The 16oz Porterhouse for two was superb - perfectly medium- rare and just the right amount of fat and a huge bone to take home. The 8oz filet mignon was equally superb, lean and perfectly medium-rare. The key lime pie was a generous size, perfect size for 3 forks.
The waiter was knowledgeable about wines and cocktails as well as the food. He offered wine samples and made recommendations which were spot on. We were in for a late lunch and enjoyed a leisurely time, no-one rushed us to leave.
Great food, lovely wines and excellent service - a perfect lunch experience.
... FINE QUALITY STEAKS ...
Porterhouse for 2 was excellent, but make sure you’re hungry!
Food was great. Best prime rib I ever tasted but servings were huge. I would have liked to taste some sides and appetizers but there was no room left. Luckily someone told us about the portions. We probably could have split something. Cool place inside. Service was excellent.
Food was just a ok. Kinda bland, I like my meat very well seasoned. Not sure what all the hype is about.
Food is outstanding. I had the sirloin and it was incredible. Really disappointed that our table was squeezed in so tightly next to others. We were so close to other people we felt like we were dining with the 2 other couples next to us. We could tell the couple next to us were not impressed either as they were trying to have a romantic meal too. A real shame as this was a restaurant we were most looking forward to dining at during our stay in New York and we booked our table weeks in advance.
Server, food and atmosphere were excellent!!!!
Experience was decent. Wasn’t amazing but wasn’t bad either. They are really light on the butter and cream when they cook and it was surprisingly good. I’m so used to dishes being overpowered by butter. The porterhouse was really over cooked on the edges but we still ate it and it wasn’t that bad
Excellent steaks, top of the line. Highly recommend the T-Bone, had a massive section of filet on it.
Try the Mutton Chop. It’s an experience worth having. I normally get my steak medium rare, but got this medium. Just right.
Was our anniversary we were given 2 glasses of champagne as soon as we sat and wished a very happy anniversary. It was probably the only steak house we have gone to where the waiter was not hanging out at the table waiting for our order. Our dinner lasted almost 3 hours and was fantastic....who knew what a mutton chop was.....will order again in the future .... fantastic. service was incredible , price amazingly low for manhattan. Would recommend this restaurant in a heart beat.
I have been to Keens about 30 times Amazing that it is has been flawless every time- Service- food - environment
Everything about my Keens experience was perfect. The service was second to none & every dish we ordered was perfection. I cannot wait to eat here again. Lovely historic & delicious NYC classic.
I've been dining at this wonderful restaurant for several years now and I'm never disappointed. The staff is friendly, very accommodating and make every effort to ensure you have a positive dining experience. It's old world charm captivates diners, it's delicious food keeps you coming back for more. I always recommend Keens restaurant to many people looking for a fine dining experience and have always received positive comments and appreciation for the recommendation. This is one of my go to places - I can't wait to return with more family and friends!
Old school steakhouse. Food is great! Service is top notch.
We went to Keens last week when my brother & his friend were visiting from out of town. He's very much a "meat & potatoes" kinda guy but wanted to go out for a nice meal in NYC, and Keens hit the spot. The unique decor and old traditional feel suited his tastes and felt like something he wouldn't necessarily find in his local steakhouses. We had the thick cut bacon app, which all the boys loved (I'm not a pork eater but I even had a bite and it was pretty darn good), and each of us had steaks for dinner. The steaks and accompanying sauces were delicious, although I'm pretty sure the waiter mixed up the temperature orders of mine & my husband's steaks since mine was overcooked and his was undercooked (I order med rare, he likes medium), but we just shared and chose not to complain. The waiter was very nice and professional so I'm sure if I'd mentioned it he'd have had them redone. The one thing that was underwhelming were the sides. They were not bad but were not particularly impressive either. Broccoli & cauliflower came out a little limp and overcooked, and the mashed potatoes tasted plain and unexciting. Even though we made fun of my brother for choosing a 2nd potato option, the french fries ended up being the best accompaniment to the meat in my opinion. I've been to Keens several times and would definitely go back. The steaks are excellent quality and the atmosphere makes for a fun night out.
The service was nice and friendly, even for foreigner guest who is not good English like me, makes me feel comfortable and enjoyable.
Great service, amazing steaks and an incredible ambiance
Awesome steak and mutton, just wish it wasn’t so booked all the time. Great scotch selection and try the Keen’s Ale. You need to book way in advance and be flexible with dining times.
Meat was not well seasoned. Too expensive for the taste
Excellent as always!
Great, classic old nyc steakhouse.
