What Insiders Are Saying
Keens is as Old New York as it gets.. Open since 1885, this steakhouse is pretty much the Museum of Natural Meat Eating History.
From food to service to Somm...EXCELLENT!
Food was good but nothing special very over priced. Service was very good very attentive Waiter.
Perfect traditional steak house meal, from cocktails (old fashioned) to dessert (key lime pie)!
Great service and recommendations on food and drinks. Best steak I’ve ever had.
Very welcoming, very accomodating. Excellent service and food. Really delightful.
good stakes. baaaaad salad. there was something weired about the salad. it just didnt taste right.
Booked this restaurant for our trip to NYC and was not disappointed. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. Loved the smaller room upstairs where we ate. Love the history of the restaurant. Loved the oyster with bear aisle sauce and the fillet was cooked to perfection. Also loved all of the waitstaff. Can’t complain about anything. But I got the bacon for an appetizer and wasn’t a big fan.
Overpriced and the quality of meat was not worth the price tag. I’ve had better steak for much cheaper. I’ve been to over 60 steakhouses and this one was just ok.
Great atmosphere and good food. The service was disappointing. The staff barely acknowledged you when you arrived or left at the end of the meal. We waited a long time for our waiter to come over and take a drinks order. They didn’t welcome us or have any interest in advising on the menu. We were surprised how inattentive the service was given the price of the food. The steak was tasty but the portions were extremely large. It was a shame the waiter didn’t let us know how big the steaks were as we could have shared. Slightly disappointing meal overall
For the price of the meat coinciding with the service and ambience of the restaurant, we would recommend this if you want good quality food paired with excellent service. Definitely would return again for another occasion!
I took my son on a mom/son trip to NYC...Yummy! Fabulous food...amazingly delicious...
We showed 45 minutes early for our reservation and they took us right in. Food was to be expected, always wish I had room for more.
Choose Kerns Steakhouse for a bonafide New York dining experience. Outstanding service, coupled with great food, generous portions make for a great evening.
Excellent old school steakhouse in heart of manhattan
Fantastic ambience and great food!
Three of us shared one prime rib and a double porter house. Both were perfectly cooked, delicious and very large. The bacon was great and so were the sides. The carrot cake was outstanding. Servers were polite and efficient.
Best steakhouse in NYC. You can't beat it in terms of atmosphere and quality.
This historic steakhouse definitely lived up to the legend. Service was impeccable and the filet mignon was perfectly cooked to the medium rare that we ordered. I had the renowned mutton chop and lobster and both were cooked just right. It was a great place for our 7 and 12 year olds while serving my wife and I an anniversary experience to remember.
Winning atmosphere, steaks are on par with best in the city. Great wait staff and great ambience. Love the pipes.
Great food and service. This classic N.Y. steakhouse never fails to please.
Service was impeccable!!! Each course came quickly and timely after each other, but we never felt rushed at any point. Waitress and bartender were excellent, both very knowledgable about the menu and drink selection. Great experience, plan to return.
Had high expectations given the history and the reviews. Was massively dissapointed with my T bone steak.
Steaks were very good but otherwise very average especially for the price. Service good, not great.
We had a good experience with good food, but have had better steak. The experience was nice, but lacked on the value side.
My wife and I both dined here on Sunday night. The only answer is awesome. Very historical and a fun venue. The service was very good. My wife had the prime rib.. She love The prime rib. I was adventurous and in their world famous man job. It was very tasty but was a little bit tough just like lamb could be. I am a bigger fan of lamb chops and rack of lamb t. The wine selection was average at best but overall it was a fun night
While the ambiance was fantastic, the service couldn’t have been worse. It’s wasn’t overly crowded yet multiple tables around us were having to ask for numerous missed or incorrect dishes, flag down waiters, etc.
There are so many better options in the city and we’d recommend going elsewhere for this price.
Finally was able to get a table at one of NYC most popular steakhouses. I understand everyone has their own tastes but truly believe now this place is over hyped. Service is minimum, basically they take your order and bring it out to you. Ambiance is old but charming (no music). Tables are extremely close to each other maybe 6-10 inches apart (I couldn’t help but overhear the couple next to me the entire night complain how didn’t like their experience as well). I give the servers credit to be able to navigate this layout with its patrons and limited space. (No way this place passes fire code)We had the wedge salad with bacon (very good), the hash browns (unique but so so) and the broccoli and cauliflower (good), finally for our main we had the chateaubriand for two. I was thinking the steak was going to make this trip worth while but it tastes average at best. It was luke warm when it arrived with no flavor. We ate half of the steak and took the rest home for the pups. The wine list by the glass is extremely small and after a couple poor choices on the limited options we didn’t take chances on dessert and headed to Mastros steakhouse to end our night. Can’t say we’ll be back, can’t say anything bad but overall the experience was underwhelming.
Fabulous as always - great food, service and overall value! We will be back.
Keen’s was my choice for a “last meal” prior to moving to Denver. The mutton chop is undoubtedly the best meat I’ve ever eaten and, for this special occasion, I can report that it still is. Everything about our dinner was the best, including the oysters on the half shell my husband shared with me. Our guest said her filet mignonette was the best steak she’s ever eaten. What more can I say? This is truly a special place for special occasions.
50th wedding anniversary. Very special! Surprise glasses of champagne on the house. Very well done. Thank you. Stuart and Carolyn Fischer.
I wasn’t impressed. It takes itself very seriously but the food is average for a NYC steakhouse. Not bad, but certainly it doesn't live up to the hype. For such a distinguished chophouse, I expected the food to be wonderful, but it was just average. I ordered the prime rib medium rare and it was rare (I never send food back anymore if I can help it because it wastes time). The sides were ok but Ive had better elsewhere. The waitress who took my order also argued with me about how many sides I was ordering. The service was otherwise indifferent and could not have cared less. I will stick with Peter Lugars or Rothmans. Their food is a bit better and the the service is just as indifferent.
Superb as always
The food was outstanding. The restaurant have been recommended to us by a chef friend in Memphis. It didn’t disappoint. We will definitely be back and will recommend to everyone we meet.
Visited a friend in town. Not much for fancy dining, but the food was okay. Very pricey.
Visiting the city & it was next on the list of our tour of NYC steakhouses.
We went around 5:30 and was promptly seated Had the porterhouse for two with a side of veggie and more than plenty for steak lovers Nick was our server and was on top of everything After dinner headed to the bar area where Adam took care of us Very enjoyable night
Great food. Best I’ve had in NY.
Best steak I’ve ever had! My wife was thrilled at the service and attention to detail. Highly recommend
