This is one of our favorite restaurants to dine at while visiting Kona. Great friendly service and a wonderful menu also love the two young men entertaining during the dinner hour. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The ambience is friendly, quiet and Hawaiian. We were greeted by the owner and had a great table for two with a gorgeous view of the ocean. This is white linen dining in a casual atmosphere. We loved it so much we went back a couple of days later.
Simply fantastic! I ordered my favorite: rack of lamb - cooked perfectly to my liking and I ate it all!
Service was very "Island leisure" with friendly information, drinks where perfect and went down cool & easy.
We tried the Eggplant rollup appetizer with a wonderful marinara sauce, simply delicious! My Ahi was cooked to perfection and was the evenings special dish. The Papaya Coconut sauce lost me for words, gourmet at its best. The vegetables very fresh and cooked lightly keeping company with the mashed potatoes that were as smooth as silk.
The atmosphere is special, spacious with lots of special Island artwork and the live entertainment couldn't have been better. My Blueberry Cobbler with a scoop of ice-cream went fast, could eat some right now!
My friends ordered the Duck and she loved it and the other enjoyed the Rib Eye Steak, he had a chocolate cake dessert with a chocolate ganache in the middle and is still talking about it!
Can't wait to go back!
Great little place in coffee country. And they accept credit now!
Whenever we have friends in town, we always make a date for the Keei Cafe. Their food is reliably good and the service is excellent.
We had an absolutely beautiful view of the Kona sunset!!! Amazing. (Come early.) Also wonderful live music. I loved the roasted chicken. We had a young student staying with us from Japan. She enjoyed the seafood pasta. I also ordered the eggplant appetizer and it was delicious!! We will definitely return.
Took our 6 and 9 year old grandsons for their first experience of the Ke'ei Café and it was a hit with them as it has been with us for years! They thought the desserts were the best they'd ever had!
Always so tasty from the appetizers to desserts. Great service and wonderful live music. Thank you Keei Cafe for an amazing birthday dinner for my wife and her family. We'll be back soon and will always recommend you!
Best restaurant on island, hands down. We go there all the time. The food is amazing. The fish specials are wonderful. The music is great. Family owned business, local produce. What else could you ask for? We love it.
This was the second time we have dined at Keei Cafe...and the second time we have absolutely loved it. My grilled opa was superb and my husband loved his pork chops! Not sure why there are negative reviews as to the service as we have found the staff to be informative and friendly.
Great date night evening. Good service, great ambience, delicious Lamb and crab cakes.
Friendly atmosphere. Will be back in the near future.
A gem in the Kona area. The food selection is very diverse and both of our dinners were prepared perfectly.
Sit out on the veranda and you will enjoy the evening dinner.
We loved Keei. The decor is absolutely beautiful, every bite of the food was delicious, the wine list was extensive, the owner very charming and friendly. It's a family business and well worth the visit.
My mom and I are in town from Texas. Keei Cafe was recommended by the B&B were are staying at. The food was delicious!
We had the Miso Peanut Salad, #1 fresh catch (ono) with the Famous Thai Curry sauce, the #4 fresh catch daily special sauce (ono with mango ginger sauce), and Coconut Flan.
Everything was delicious!
Keei is one of our favorite restaurants on the island. The owner always remembers us and the food is wonderful.
We eat here on every visit to south Kona and it never disappoints. The fresh fish is always perfect--tbis time, seared ahi with lilikoi sauce, YUM.
Small resto with a world-class view and great food. Recommended.
Nice live background music, not overpowering. Great food. Not much of a view was the only drawback.
Kee'i Cafe has been one of our "go to" places for years and we have enjoyed each and every time and with this last visit we introduced it to a long-time friend who had never dined there. Kee'i is a small restaurant, a husband & wife operation, with many regular patrons. Do not expect a view but do expect a good meal at a reasonable price, usually a good selection of wines not necessarily on the menu and most evenings, live music.
The Brie appetizer is one of our favorite starters, there is always a fresh catch special or two with various preps. Our entrees included the Ono fish special with lemon/butter/caper prep; the seafood pasta dish and old fashion pork chops (2)...all quite delicious. There is a corking fee if you choose to bring your own wine and they have a full bar.
The location is easy to miss, but if it means turning around, it's worth it. There is a second level parking lot where the main door is located. I would suggest reservations, especially during the high season. And, occasionally, one of the patrons sits in with the musicians and has a great voice! A bonus with dinner.
I’ve been there the last two years and it’s been great this year was just poor service and food was mediocre not impressed . Don’t know that I would go back again.
Service was slow since number of waitstaff was low in comparison to diners. Life music was relatively quite allowing pleasant conversation. Food was good; portions were large. Price was reasonable. Overall a pleasant casual dinning experience.
Great food, not so good for service, but worth it.
We returned again this year, music wS limited on Tuesday night. Food was good and service
Was nothing special. Nice views .
The food quality and menu were excellent. I had made reservations, but we still had to wait a bit for our table. I had the fish special which was excellent. They give great size portions and you can tell that they put thought into the preparation. Wine prices are reasonable as well. Would like to have gone back this trip, but they weren’t open the last two nights of our stay.
Keei Cafe is one of our go-to places for a great meal, good live entertainment-sometimes including a dining guest who has a terrific voice and does some tunes with the musicians...an added treat. Menu doesn't change much, but daily specials are worth consideration. A decently priced wine list. Don't expect a view, do expect a fine meal! A family run business that deserves support. Mahalo
Always enjoy, love the food and staff, just wish less noise.
Food was excellent as always. We had six in our party and and tried several different entrees and was outstanding in every way. Mango cobbler was back to its great portion with ice cream and delicious as was the Lava Cake. Service was good as this time there was an extra person so help serve the packed dining room.
Keei was a great choice. We sat outside and would have had a view, but it was a cloudy evening. We did have a reservation, but it did not appear to be necessary.
Ordered soup, full of seafood, which was large enough to share between two of us. I had the seared Ahi appetizer and a salad with shrimp and scallops, which was perfect as an entree. My husband ordered the combination with curried rice and ahi. He ordered it medium (I would suggest rare).
The entire meal was perfect, service was attentive and ambience was warm. It was the one evening we chose to have a restaurant meal, and it was he right choice!
Food was great.
Entrees were really good. Salads under-performed. Nice room although the live music was loud- made conversation difficult. Service: we’re on vacation in a tourist area so our expectations aren’t high, but we were seated in the corner next to the broom and dustpan which apparently are part of their room decor, and our waitstaff person was, um, clearly wanting to be elsewhere. The other two waiters gamely tried to compensate. Made the whole experience sort of strange and mostly “meh”.
Slow service. Excellent food.
As always, our experience was lovely. Our friends were celebrating their 50th anniversary so it was special, indeed. We go at least twice every year while we’re on island.
Our 5:00 reservation for Valentine’s Day began promptly at 5:00. Several others had the same thought and were there at opening!
The restaurant was built BY the owners, long time Hawaiian residents! It’s family run and very homey atmosphere.
Because several couples sat down at the same time, there was a little bit of delay in having the waitress take our order. It may have been better if she got their drinks only first. Then ours. Then go back to them to get their dinner and / or appetizer orders. We did have water but no bread or anything else!
There’s usually live music but the band was going to some other place on Valentines’ night...
All in all it’s close by Kealakekua and Captain Cook, has lanai seating, is beautiful inside and the food was excellent! I ate way too much! Here there are plenty of fish options and tofu dishes for vegetarians/ vegans. My kinda place!
There were still lots of meat and poultry offerings to choose from also! The dessert menu is extensive and great too!
We read the reviews on tripadvisor on this place and decided to try it. It was great! It's parking lot and entrance are in the back of the building on the main street. We had reservations and were seated almost immediately when we entered and were allowed to pick our table. It was well decorated and lighting was dimmed so it had a nice ambiance. We ordered baked brie appetizer which my husband and I both loved and was just the right amount for 2-4 people to share. Very good beer, wine and specialized cocktail list and we decided to order wine and both our selections were good. Husband ordered and loved his pork chops and veggies and mashed potatoes which were seasoned just right and had just the right amount of doneness and texture for the veggies. I ordered the ribeye steak and veggies and mashed potatoes and the steak was done perfectly medium with pink in the middle and was juicy. The menu had a good variety of choices and all of them looked good to try. Dessert cheesecake was very good.
Waiter was smiling, gracious and attentive. We both decided that if we lived nearby we'd come to this restaurant often.
As always, the food was excellent. However, the service was poor. I had to remind the owner that our appetizers had not arrived. He went to the kitchen to get them for us, but it was so late that the soup was merely warm, and our dinner arrived just a few minutes later. I absolutely hate that, as it feels Iike a cheap café. I then ordered another drink and 10 minutes later the owner stopped by and asked if I wanted another drink. After the appetizer fiasco they at least gave the drink for free. I will still return to Keei Café, but it really needs to up its service to justify the pricing.
We went here with our good friends because all of us love this restaurant. It was our 50th Wedding Anniversary and the food, wine and company was wonderful. The desserts were out of this world.
It’s a beautiful setting and the food is good. We had a reservation and it still took a while to get seated. We were there for nearly and hour before we got our food.
Have been to Ke'ei many times. I think it was busier that ever so service was very sporadic. Ran out of iced tea after the first serving. Asked for a refill repeatedly and took forever for them to finally say we have none. The fish portion was overcooked and very skimpy compared to past times.
