Keei Cafe never disappoints. It's my favorite restaurant on the big island. The food is always fresh and tasty. It's slightly out of the way, but that means it doesn't have the aura of a tourist trap. We started going there ten years ago on our annual week in Kona, and I always make it a point to return. If you're a fish eater, it's the best. Go for the lemon caper preparation -- it lets the taste of the fish come through.
This cafe consistently serves outstanding food at reasonable prices. They take pride in sourcing mostly local ingredients. The service here used to be slow, but has improved greatly. Only downside is that the traffic on HWY 11 can be noisy as all windows are open.
We enjoyed our first visit so much we went back four nights later for their “happy hour” 4:30-6:00. So good. Everything about the place was just right. Is just right!!
Great atmosphere, food, service and music - all very much with that aloha spirit
Best food we had on the island. Better than meals paid twice much for.
We always get one of the fresh fish specials. No better food or prices anywhere.
The food is always delicious and the owner is friendly and welcoming. The night we were there it appeared a new server was being trained who unfortunately didn’t seem very suited to the job. Our meals were wonderful so we won’t hold it against them and will go back the next time we’re are in the area.
Stumbled upon this place while searching internet for good places to eat in kona. Took my wife here for our wedding last year so had to go back for our anniversary. The food is great. Casual atmosphere, friendly place. I highly recommend this place.
My wife and I are both “foodies”, and do a lot of traveling. Many of our trips revolve around various local cuisines, and the creativity that is brought to the table. We take everything into account...the freshness/quality of the food, dishes that exhibit a chef’s creativity and skill, customer service, value, ambience, the wine list, dessert selections, and so on. We can honestly say that Keei Cafe has it all! The staff is courteous and professional, and the presentation and preparation of the various dishes is exceptional. This is a winner in every respect, and we highly recommend it without any reservation whatsoever (although this is a very popular dining spot, so “reservations” are certainly recommended..😉).
We ate there 4 times on a 3 week trip, and I've eaten there numerous times before. It's one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. The daily fish special was perfect, regardless of the sauce (although liliqoi is my favorite). I love this restaurant.
Great. Always looking for a hidden gem on vaca. Although it’s been around a long time it’s still unspoiled any the masses. I’d go there every night.
Delightful today as it was over 20 years ago in their tiny fish house location.
Always a great night out. Best food and service around. Love it.
Great atmosphere with the food and service being equally outstanding.
Always solid pleSANT EVENING WITH ENJOYABLE FOOD..AS ALWAYS—THANKS
Keei Cafe is Aloha! In the past year I have dined here more that half a dozen times, from intimate dinners to group get-togethers. This restaurant never disappoints. The food is consistently fantastic and the people are always extraordinary. It is a joy to come here. Mahalo, Keei Cafe!
In between tours on Hawaii, we stayed at a nearby B&B. The owners’ list of nearby restaurants included Keei Cafe. The fish was delightfully fresh, two local guitarists played and sang, the wine list was broad. It was so good that we went back the next night as well. Worth a visit!
The best fine dining meal on the Big Island!! Period ! What a great find ! Well worth the drive.
Bobby is the quintessential host - always friendly and welcoming.
One of our favorites on the West Side!
Food is excellent and you're never rushed. Groups welcome and well taken care of as well as intimate dining.
We read that this place was very special. It was rated second only to Browns Beach House as far a quality place to eat on the Big Island. They did not disappoint as our dinner was prepared exactly as we asked and the Opakapaka was amazing. We sat out on the covered lanai as a slight rain was coming down and we had a nice bottle of Sonoma Valley chardonnay. The best dining experience we had on this trip.
High quality food at reasonable prices. Great local spot. We dine here regularly.
This is one of our favorite restaurants to dine at while visiting Kona. Great friendly service and a wonderful menu also love the two young men entertaining during the dinner hour. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The ambience is friendly, quiet and Hawaiian. We were greeted by the owner and had a great table for two with a gorgeous view of the ocean. This is white linen dining in a casual atmosphere. We loved it so much we went back a couple of days later.
Simply fantastic! I ordered my favorite: rack of lamb - cooked perfectly to my liking and I ate it all!
Service was very "Island leisure" with friendly information, drinks where perfect and went down cool & easy.
We tried the Eggplant rollup appetizer with a wonderful marinara sauce, simply delicious! My Ahi was cooked to perfection and was the evenings special dish. The Papaya Coconut sauce lost me for words, gourmet at its best. The vegetables very fresh and cooked lightly keeping company with the mashed potatoes that were as smooth as silk.
The atmosphere is special, spacious with lots of special Island artwork and the live entertainment couldn't have been better. My Blueberry Cobbler with a scoop of ice-cream went fast, could eat some right now!
My friends ordered the Duck and she loved it and the other enjoyed the Rib Eye Steak, he had a chocolate cake dessert with a chocolate ganache in the middle and is still talking about it!
Can't wait to go back!
Great little place in coffee country. And they accept credit now!
Whenever we have friends in town, we always make a date for the Keei Cafe. Their food is reliably good and the service is excellent.
We had an absolutely beautiful view of the Kona sunset!!! Amazing. (Come early.) Also wonderful live music. I loved the roasted chicken. We had a young student staying with us from Japan. She enjoyed the seafood pasta. I also ordered the eggplant appetizer and it was delicious!! We will definitely return.
Took our 6 and 9 year old grandsons for their first experience of the Ke'ei Café and it was a hit with them as it has been with us for years! They thought the desserts were the best they'd ever had!
Always so tasty from the appetizers to desserts. Great service and wonderful live music. Thank you Keei Cafe for an amazing birthday dinner for my wife and her family. We'll be back soon and will always recommend you!
Best restaurant on island, hands down. We go there all the time. The food is amazing. The fish specials are wonderful. The music is great. Family owned business, local produce. What else could you ask for? We love it.
This was the second time we have dined at Keei Cafe...and the second time we have absolutely loved it. My grilled opa was superb and my husband loved his pork chops! Not sure why there are negative reviews as to the service as we have found the staff to be informative and friendly.
Great date night evening. Good service, great ambience, delicious Lamb and crab cakes.
Friendly atmosphere. Will be back in the near future.
A gem in the Kona area. The food selection is very diverse and both of our dinners were prepared perfectly.
Sit out on the veranda and you will enjoy the evening dinner.
We loved Keei. The decor is absolutely beautiful, every bite of the food was delicious, the wine list was extensive, the owner very charming and friendly. It's a family business and well worth the visit.
My mom and I are in town from Texas. Keei Cafe was recommended by the B&B were are staying at. The food was delicious!
We had the Miso Peanut Salad, #1 fresh catch (ono) with the Famous Thai Curry sauce, the #4 fresh catch daily special sauce (ono with mango ginger sauce), and Coconut Flan.
Everything was delicious!
Keei is one of our favorite restaurants on the island. The owner always remembers us and the food is wonderful.
We eat here on every visit to south Kona and it never disappoints. The fresh fish is always perfect--tbis time, seared ahi with lilikoi sauce, YUM.
Small resto with a world-class view and great food. Recommended.
Nice live background music, not overpowering. Great food. Not much of a view was the only drawback.
