   We arrived a little early and no seemed concerned whether we had reservations or not. There was no parking and the staff did not seem helpful with that. We ended up parking down the street by a business closed for the day. The restaurant was very busy and service was slow. The food was great though. I had the mahi-mahi with lemon caper sauce. Tasty! My husband had the pork chops and reported they were good also. Would recommend though be aware of parking issues.

   Service is a bit rushed. Both fish entrees were slightly dry. More curry sauce would have helped. The dessert …..Mac nut pie was delicious. They need to understand we are not in a race. The pupu plate was cleared and the entree served immediately.

   I found Keei Cafe just searching through Open Table. We were seated immediately and the service was excellent. All four of us were very happy with our meals. I'm not sure if this is true but it has more of a feel of a "locals" restaurant compared to the typical tourist restaurants.

   Shush, this restaurant is the best kept secret on the island. Only problem is it’s no longer much of a secret. They deservedly were very full. It’s our favorite restaurant on the island. We have never left disappointed.. Don’t tell anybody. I highly recommend the Duck.

   Been living on island for 5 years and have never been to this restaurant. I would HIGHLY recommend. The food was top notch! We had the brie appetizer delicious and the Catch of the Day. Beyond our expectations fresh and delightful. We will be back our new favorite place 😊

    I moved to Kona from Honolulu a little over a year ago and was introduced to Keei Cafe by some good friends. It has become my favorite restaurant in Kona - my hidden gem. The food is always excellent and the staff are friendly and courteous. Whenever I have friends or family visiting, I always book a res here. The curry sauce here is outstanding as well as the baked Brie. This last visit, my son ordered the chicken, which I’d read all the rave reviews on. Boy, who would ever think chicken could taste so good! There was nothing left on his plate but one single bone! Anyways, if you enjoy an intimate, warm atmosphere with a true Hawaiian vibe, come here, you won’t be disappointed.

    Kitchen and service on the slow side when dining room is full, resulting in longer waits and cooler than optimal food. We find service and food better later in the evening - 7:30-8pm.

    We were on vacation with our children and went there for Valentine's Day. It was a pre-fixe menu which was great for us but not as great for our kids. That said, they found plenty to eat and the restaurant was able to accommodate some of the allergies at the table. This restaurant is a hidden gem in a residential area and had beautiful sunset views. The staff was not quite as attentive with refills on water but were quick to respond when asked.

    Favorite spot for a meal that won’t disappoint. We went here with some friends and we’re all still raving about the sauces and quality of the meals. The drinks from the bar were delightful too. The staff are all very friendly. What more could you want? One of the bartenders at Ola Brewing recommended the chicken -I never order chicken out as I can almost always make it better at home-we ordered the chicken and the catch of the day. Amazing! I would order both again and again. It was our second time at this restaurant and we will continue to patronize this lovely local gem every time we’re in the area. Thank you!

    We had a very nice meal and experience at Keei Cafe last Saturday night. We got there a bit before 5 pm which was good because the place got really busy by 6 pm! I loved my fish and my husband had the best steak of our two week trip to South Maui and the Big Island. The ginger lemonade was so tasty and I think it is pretty healthy which I so appreciate. And I will never forget the best lava cake I have ever had.

    The restaurant is a nice place up on a hillside. It is nice to see a family working together to keep the place friendly. The food was amazing and perfect portion sizes. There even was relaxing dinner music to provide for the ambiance of the night. I highly recommend as a place to dine just out side Kona without the street hustle if traffic.

    Relative to the alternatives in the vicinity, this is a good restaurant. We were here pre-covid and it was great. This time the food was not very appealing (the pasta was chewy, the alfredo sauce thick and indelicate, the pesto sauce was plain oily). I was going to order a margarita until I saw a bottle of commercial margarita mix being taken out of a stack of cases of the stuff (right near where you wait to be seated) and glub-glub being added to what I had been hoping would be a from-scratch margarita. The Italian pinot grigio was a good backup. The place is popular, and 'good', but not as good as they could be, by far.

    Nice ocean front sunset dining but if you are a whole food plant based eater you may not find anything on the entire menu to eat and I will not go back for that reason.

    We arrived at opening and it took a few minutes for our server to appear. Drinks were a bit delayed, but I get it, they got slammed at opening.. to be expected. Food order was taken in a reasonable time and arrived in about 20 minutes... Delivered by a bus person. Our server never returned to see how things are or to offer to refill our empty drinks. Water was filled by bus person. We never interacted with our server for the rest of the meal until it handed her our pay ent... Which had to be brought over by the owner AFTER we had to request it. Food was good, but service is severely lacking. I do understand that there is a lack of servers and respect that, but to not communicate AT ALL and at least a quick "I'm sorry, we are super busy and short handed" statement from the server OR the owner would have gone a long way. The poor service was a major detraction from our experience, which has been quite pleasant in the past. It may be a while before we return. I don't mind paying $$$ for a good meal, and this experience just didn't warrant the price we paid.

    We were worried about the parking situation. I am disabled and the disabled spaces are both very small but I couldn’t walk uphill and I didn’t want to be alone in the dark or go in alone so my hubby pulled up into the bushes to park. It left the exit opening plenty wide so we weren’t worried. After a bit We were greeted by several very nice folks and seated at our table. The bad part of the meal started here…choosing what to eat from the menu. Such torture, but it’s my birthday so I decided to try the ribeye steak. I kept asking myself did you really order a pan. Fried steak? No good can come of this. It was freakin delicious melt in your mouth! Everything on our dinner plates was great. We ordered the bread pudding for dessert to take home. We were seated near the front and we could overhear some sort of scuffle. Hubby and I both looked at each other and I asked “Do you think he ran into your truck?” And he was thinking the same thing. Sure enough our truck. Was smacked, as was the truck parked next to us. That owner was checking out his damage when he witnessed ours getting hit although his own was a hit and run. After we got the name and phone number we got our bread pudding to go. I’m glad it was comped. The bread pudding was in the shape of a tiny, no, very tiny muffin. It was hard as a rock. Cutting with a fork launched a piece across the room, bounced off the wall and down the hall sliding it under the bed and it’s a dog toy now. So my birthday dessert rather sucked but I don’t usually eat desserts and that was one fine steak!

    We celebrated our anniversary here and had a wonderful dinner. We were able to sit on the lanai as it was just the two of us. We always enjoy the fish special of the day. Definitely would recommend.
