The varied and complex menu and festive tropical drinks have made Kaya an award-winning dining destination for more than a decade.
Birthday! Good food, nice wine.
We went for our daughter's birthday. Always enjoy Kaya.
As always, the food and drinks were excellent. The caipirinha and Pharmacist’s Daughter cocktails were fantastic; great black bean dip and delicious tacos and quesadillas, too. Friendly staff. This is one of our favorite places for an evening out!
Nice little tropics themed restaurant. Tons of drink options. The chips were homemade and had a kick to them.
Fried chicken Thursdays are excellent! Both my wife and I ordered the Nashville hot, which was, not only the best fried chicken we've had in the city, but the closest thing to Nashville hot that we've found locally. Great service and happy hour specials, too!
As always great service, food & atmosphere. We are regular customers at Bog Burrito restaurants.
I got the chille Rellenos, they had been deep fried but the breading was soggy. The insides were supposedly stuffed. But it was mostly filled with seeds from the pepper which made it unbearably spicy and there were two bites of potatoes and hardly any cheese. The beans were shy of being fully cooked. I had gotten this dish before and there were huge chunks of potatoes, lots of cheese, and the beans and rice were also inside the pepper. That was much better than my most recent experience.
I ate here about 4 years ago, loved it, and hoped it would be as good this time. It was. Still unique and thoroughly enjoyable.
Very close quarters but went there for something different. Probably will not go back
Excellent place for first date... and anniversary 24 years later
Food and service were wonderful as always.
Amazing meal. Great drinks and awesome vegan options. 100% would recommend to anyone!
Fresh and fun on a rainy evening!
Best restaurant I've been to in Pittsburgh, do yourself a favor and go to Kaya
Great staff, always delicious food with veg and vegan options, super fun atmosphere. Kaya is a sure bet.
We had the vegetarian pre-fix menu with wine pairing. The dinner was delicious. Kaya is always excellent with many vegetarian and vegan options
The food was amazing! My server forgot some things that I asked for but overall did a good job.
Excellent service. What a charming, whimsical and attentive server. A+ Veg dinner ruled too
Definitely a go to when in the strip district. My girlfriend and I went to Pittsburgh and randomly stopped at kaya for our first date and we loved it. We went back for our one year anniversary and it held up to our expectations. We will definitely be back more often than once a year now for sure.
Excellent food & service!
Birthday celebration. Perfect!!
Everything is always delicious. I swore I wasn’t going to eat all of the fish tacos and sweet potato fries, but I couldn’t help myself.
Kaya has a very diverse menu with a ton to offer! the bean dip & queso fundido apps were perfect for the table. the jerk wings were incredible as well as the chiles rellenos. would recommend & will definitely be back
Always good- a little expensive, but worth the great quality-.
Great fun, great food!
The tropical paella was incredible! We went here for a birthday and it was a great venue for it, not too loud, the drinks were great, and the the quality matched the price.
It was okay but didn't knock our socks off, if you will. I got the Kaya burger and my wife the grilled salmon. Everything was good and met expectations for a decent meal.
Kaya is my favorite reasonably-priced delicious food restaurant in Pittsburgh, and the service is excellent. I often order the crispy fish tacos grilled instead of fried and when the waitress heard us discussing that we like spicy food, she said they could also make the fish blackened if we prefer that -- it was fantastic....a new favorite. Great beer selection, and excellent vegetarian options.
I have been to Kaya several times o er the years and although the atmosphere is always only OK—slightly funky and dark even in the daytime—the food has always been of the high quality I expect from the Big Burrito Group. This time, none of the four in our party was very satisfied with our food. The Cuban sandwich was nothing spectacular and the fish tacos were soggy and too spicy for most people, I think. Also, the entry to the restaurant looked dirty. This restaurant may have seen its best days. It seems to need some TLC and better cooks.
We tried to make a reservation at open table and by phone for 430 or 5 PM. We were told that we could come at 3:30 or at 9:45. When we arrived instead of being seated in the front of the house we were seated in the back area next to a staff meeting that was going on at another table. The waitress was poor she sat down at the staff meeting to consume her lunch while my guest needed to have a drink fixed because there was no syrup for the most twist only carbon dioxide in the soda machine. The restaurant remained completely empty until we departed at 6 PM at which time two tables were filled. Additionally I paid in cash in my change due back was $13 and I needed to leave an approximately 6 to 7 dollar tip. The waitress gave me back a 10 and three ones instead of a five and eight ones. I had to go to the bar to get additional change.
I love this place, though you need a reservation most of the time. Food was delicious. Several quality vegetarian and vegan options, and delicious mixed drinks. Nice happy hour special.
Most times, the place is total chaos. The servers are usually running through the dining room and in and out of the door to the tables outside. Sometimes it seems that no one has one specific job; everyone is doing everything. And yet, we never got our appetizer. Don’t get me wrong, I love Kaya. I take people there all the time. Monday just wadn’t your best showing.
No worries. I’all be back.
Food was amazingly good! Drinks were fantastic as well. Our server was very knowledgeable and suggested a change that made a lot of sense (adding tofu to the nachos when we didn't want pork). We'll be back!
Kayak continues to delight and delivers excellent food with top notch service. An outstanding place for brunch.
The food and service are always outstanding! 👍👍👍👍👍
Outstanding food and drinks, great service!
Recommended by a family member who frequents the restaurant, our party of 8 was well taken care of from the moment we sat. Drinks were great, the conch fritters even better! Tons of vegan selections for my daughter. The fish tacos and the Caribbean rainbow salad were out of sight!!
Service was slow. Food was really good. Will definitely go back. Everything we tried was amazing and there were many more items we wanted to try. Fried chicken was great. Shrimp dip was very good. Steak cemito was very flavorful.
Went there for lunch with a friend I hadn't seen in a while. We had lots to catch up on. The waiter cheerfully gave us time and space to chat and (eventually) order. Upon learning that I had had dental work done and the food I could eat was limited, the waiter gave me great recommendations. The food was so good. I'm pretty sure the corn and lentil beignets are the best appetizer I've ever had. Particularly impressive was the way the waiter WAITED until we were done with our appetizer to bring our main course--none of the hovering around you waiting to snatch your plate and kick you out the door the second you take your last bite. I recommend Kaya enthusiastically!
