The varied and complex menu and festive tropical drinks have made Kaya an award-winning dining destination for more than a decade.
Yummy dinner, love the fish tacos. The Nashville fried chicken sandwich was a little too spicy for my spice loving son-in-law.
Thoroughly enjoyed Sunday Brunch! Food was delicious! Will definitely be back.
We had the conch fritters, the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich and the banh mi tacos. Spicy and bursting with flavor.
Great food! It’s always such great quality and creativity!
Kaya is one of the best restaurants in Pittsburgh, hands down. The freshest and most vibrant flavors you'll find just about anywhere, a wonderful space and ambiance, and a killer bar with a great selection. When it comes to the food, I have found nowhere else like it anywhere.
They simply elevate the game on their dishes, and the care they put into their food is evident every single time. This time I was taking two close friends to Kaya for the first time, and they both absolutely loved it.
Great for a date, a nice dinner with friends, or for drinks and fun! Kaya is a must visit for anyone with their eye on a good time.
Would really recommend the plantain nachos! Service was very good
1 year wedding anniversary
Fried chicken night is one of my favorite meals in town.
I think the kitchen is going through some changes.
Very nice restaurant with several delicious vegan options to choose from. Highly recommend.
Our dinner was amazing so many flavors going on I had the salmon and loved there happy hour .Our server was great. We really love this place. Terri & Tom
We had brunch with friends and truly enjoyed the meal. Specialty drinks are so good. Hard to choose which one to order. Our server, Gregory, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Would highly recommend.
It is a cool restaurant, food is fair, a little cramped, service was very slow.
We were at Kaya for my daughters Birthday celebration, wqe were pleased with the wait service and food it was a very nice experience and we will come back and recommend to friends - family as well. Keep up the good work. Thank you,
Great dining experience. Ate at bar. The best bartenders. Food quite flavorful
Went for fried chicken Thursday. Very pleased will do it again!
The food and drink was very good! Really liked calamari, Kaya chips, and the flank steak stir fry! Service was slow, though the restaurant wasn't full. Additionally, restaurant was FREEZING - my mother had to use a napkin as a "blanket," even though she was wearing long sleeves. I recommend taking a sweater or jacket.
Excellent! Loved the food - delicious! The presentation of our meals was inviting as was the spatial environment. Great, helpful wait staff. Since we were at Kaya's during a rain storm, the restaurant was not full, so there was no noise level issue. Because the space is small, noise could be an issue with a full restaurant. We look forward to going to Kayas when we visit the Pittsburgh Strip District again. We loved it!
Nice food. Good flavors. Seating is a little tight. We were seated near the bar and it was a bit close quarters. Enjoyed our food. Especially the tuna poke bowl
Family went to Kaya to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday. While it's long been a favorite, sadly kaya wasn't up to par on this night.
1) waitress misheard the order of one of our family members and brought the salmon entre and not the salmon salad. We decided not to say anything or make a big deal.
2) food came out at disparate times making it awkward while some people ate while others had to wait.
3) waitress missed the side order of fries that one of us ordered. Should be noted that she didn't write anything down. Brought it to her attention right away but fries came well after we were all done eating.
4) my daughters chicken sandwich was inedible. My son got the same thing and his was fine. But here was either uncooked or a bad piece of meat because she couldn't bite through or even cut the piece of chicken. We sent it back but her replacement didn't come out until well after we were all done eating.
We are low key and rarely make waves. But given the occasion this was a highly disappointing experience. $200 for 6 people which is fine if a good experience. Not sure if we will ever be back tbh.
Formerly a favorite spot. Very lackluster this time, despite it being a relatively slow Sunday late afternoon/early evening.
Our beers were delivered to the wrong table—no apology or explanation, just four strangers handing us our beers from their table while our server stood and watched... Shortly afterward, four entrees delivered to us, but not ours. Again, no apologies or explanation, but at least this time the staff handled the trade off rather than the patrons.
It was a bit noisy and our server struggled to hear us—understandable. But her repeated “huh?” was not very professional.
Phenomenal as always. Only critique is server didn't check/refill my water as often as I would have liked. Ie: one refill during our 90 minute or so brunch. Food was on point. Will be back for sure 👍
GreAt cocktails. Delicious food.
Great food and great service. Our server Kurt was wonderful. Would highly recommend this place.
Was there for taco Tuesday. Everything we had was great. Service outstanding. Food excellent. We have been there numerous times and it has always been outstanding.
Kurt was our waiter - excellent young man. Food: I had Jerk Pork Quesadilla and my wife had Fish Tacos, both were excellent. We also had the Bean Dip as an appetizer which was also very good. We will be back!
Every single thing we ordered- both food and drinks- was absolutely amazing. I think we all ate more than we should have just because it tasted so good. The restaurant also has a very nice ambience and moderate noise level- you could hear other people talking, but we could still talk at a normal level and it was not awkwardly quiet either. The service was good and we were well taken care of, but our server had zero personality. It was not at all a reflection on the quality of service we received, just would have been nice to have someone more fun/quirky.
Birthday! Good food, nice wine.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Jubilee Flank Steak entrée that I had and my companion enjoyed the Kaya Salad he had. Our server suggested the caipirinha which was delicious and just enough flavor to provide a compliment to the meal. I have been to most of the other Big Burrito group restaurants, but avoided this one since I'm not a fan of mixing fruit with other foods and I know Caribbean foods often do, but it was easy to find something that I really enjoyed. The atmosphere and service lived up to what I expect from the Big Burrito group. Great experience!
We went for our daughter's birthday. Always enjoy Kaya.
As always, the food and drinks were excellent. The caipirinha and Pharmacist’s Daughter cocktails were fantastic; great black bean dip and delicious tacos and quesadillas, too. Friendly staff. This is one of our favorite places for an evening out!
Nice little tropics themed restaurant. Tons of drink options. The chips were homemade and had a kick to them.
Fried chicken Thursdays are excellent! Both my wife and I ordered the Nashville hot, which was, not only the best fried chicken we've had in the city, but the closest thing to Nashville hot that we've found locally. Great service and happy hour specials, too!
As always great service, food & atmosphere. We are regular customers at Bog Burrito restaurants.
I got the chille Rellenos, they had been deep fried but the breading was soggy. The insides were supposedly stuffed. But it was mostly filled with seeds from the pepper which made it unbearably spicy and there were two bites of potatoes and hardly any cheese. The beans were shy of being fully cooked. I had gotten this dish before and there were huge chunks of potatoes, lots of cheese, and the beans and rice were also inside the pepper. That was much better than my most recent experience.
I ate here about 4 years ago, loved it, and hoped it would be as good this time. It was. Still unique and thoroughly enjoyable.
Very close quarters but went there for something different. Probably will not go back
Excellent place for first date... and anniversary 24 years later
Food and service were wonderful as always.
