Good but too expensive for what it is. Acoustics are terrible and it feels like a massive cafeteria instead of a high end restaurant.
The octopus was quite spicy without enhancing the flavor and many of the other flavor combinations seemed to clash.
Kauai Grille is great for any occasion as well as special occasions! We go there always when we are in town.
Awesome service from our server billy, great experience and food was awesome and very delicious a bit pricey but worth it. Will definietly go back!
We had a wonderful time. The service was excellent and so was the food. Very creative.
Wonderful food, perfect ambience, and great views of hanalei bay. The staff is wonderful and attentive. We will definitely be coming back.
Our dinner at the Kauai Grill was fantastic from the moment we were seated. The appetizers presentation was beautiful and the flavor was as excellent as their appearance. We started with the spiced chicken samosa which was very tasty. We also had the Kailani Field Gathering and Shrimp salads which are large enough to share. The flavors were fantastic! Three of us had the "nut & seed crusted Maui mahi" which I would highly recommend. The dish was done perfectly and the portion was very sufficient. One guest had their special which was a sea bass dish prepared with a an Asian chili sauce, the spice was perfect. I highly recommend ordering a side of their ginger rice. Wine selection was superb and our waiter knew his wines very well especially for pairings. It is a bit loud, but that seems to be the norm with most restaurants. The view is beautiful so I recommend requesting a table by the window especially for the sunset.
When we return to Kauai we definitely will be returning to the Kauai Grill.
The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the cocktail drinks were amazing! We took our friends there when they landed on the island!
I loved the food, and the service was impeccable, but honestly the ambiance was terrible! there was weird pop/rock music playing and the restaurant was LOUD! i mean loud enough where we could barely have a conversation!
Beautiful setting, good food and service. It was noisy however. There was a table near whose patrons were yelling at each other
We actually had a nice meal at Kauai Grill.... we left the cost of the meal on our room by signing the check and giving our room number, and leaving it on the table.....you can imagine our surprise when our waiter ran after us and suggested that we tried to leave without paying!?!?! WHAT? Even if something had happened, it was just weird having him suggest that we were trying to avoid paying the bill! There were numerous ways he could have handled the situation, but instead he suggested something like that? We are in our 60’s, do a lot of travel and dining out and have never run into anything like this. Too bad. He really ruined a lovely dinner for us.
This was a special evening for my girlfriend and myself. it was our last night on the island & happened to be her birthday so I wanted to make sure that I took her some where special. Everyone for the valet staff to the SA made sure that our evening was top notch. the dinning staff was on top of everything without feeling like they were on top of us.
Kauai Grill is always special. We’ve been to Kauai twice and eaten at the restaurant more than once per visit. The service, food and ambiance are great, but nothing tops the views of Hanalei Bay. Definitely the most upscale experience we’ve had on Kauai.
Beautiful location with outstanding service. The food was good but the prices were outrageously expensive and put a damper on an otherwise beautiful experience. A cup of soup cost $15 and a small piece of fish cost $48. The fish came without any sides; it was just a small piece of fish for the whole meal. A glass of wine for $22 (that would cost $12 elsewhere......)
Great! Good food, great views and friendly staff.
Great view and food was excellent. Wait staff was very personable.
Epic service. The staff is very attentive. Mahana stands out as distinguished in polite service.
Horrible service, sat forever without drinks. Finally ordered wine and did not have what we were looking for, they did substitute a better bottle for same price. Manager knew we were upset with whole evening tried to be nice to us. Food horrible and over priced. Would never dine there again. We did not want to dine there based on review. Had dinner reservations somewhere else but possibility of closed bridge made us go here, so bad.
Excellent food and very good service. View is amazing at sunset. However noise level is very high
The manager and waiter was excellent. We were very disappointed in the prices and quantity of food. The prices are extremely high and the portions are very small. My husband ordered a lobster and it had very little meat on it. I ordered fish which were to come with potatoes and edamame beans. There was one small bite size potato and 3 small beans. The fish was small too. We stayed at the St Regis so it was very disappointing.
We decided to spend the money and try the chef's tasting menu. HIGHLY recommend this place if you are willing to spend the money for a phenomenal food experience. Wine list is solid and the sommelier/manager really knows his stuff.
This was our first time to Kauai Grill since it opened. We did have a late reservation request so we were seated away from the view but that was understandable. Fortunately we had a nice booth. Prices were higher than what we found on the web site by about $10 more per dish.
The rib eye special was very good. Serving size was big but please note that no sides come WITH the dish. Potatoes or rice is all an added $10 to $13 more. The onaga was delicious but again no side dish; everything is ala carte. With one alcoholic drink, 6 side dishes and 3 entrees, the total came to $304. Once the crowd comes in, it's very hard to hear due to the acoustics in this room. Our server M. Knapp was very nice and courteous.
Sunset dinner- the view was amazing and the waitstaff were engaging and efficient. Food was pricey but delicious.
Very expensive for À la cart dining ! Our party of six was seated up against the wall and not any atmosphere whatsoever. We were given one basket of bread and one small pack of butter between six people. I’d rather drive 22 miles to JO2 and spend my money there for a better dinners experience at a fraction of the price.
The view is always amazing no matter the weather.
The staff was very accommodating and helpful.
Great food, service, ambiance and the view ah the view just outstanding.
Again in Kaua’i we’ll be coming back for sure.
Love it! Highly recommend
Restaurant was clean and well appointed with a beautiful and dramatic ocean view. Although we are not staying at the St. Regis, the staff was welcoming and accommodating as it was our first night in Kauai and we arrived about 15 minutes earlier than our requested reservation. Food and wines were generally excellent and well presented (Surf & Turf, Broiled Onaga, and Ahi Tartare), although for my taste the avacado puree was a bit tart and overpowering for the fish. Service was very good but not exceptional as they seem to struggle with striking the right balance of being adequately attentive but not overly interruptive. Prices are high as expected in this type venue and upscale resort. The bottle of white wine we selected was priced over 2.5 times the retail wine shop price. Unexpected perk: No charge for valet parking although tipping the attendants is recommended.
Fabulous views. AMAZING food. We really enjoyed ourselves and will certainly return.
One of our best dining experiences. The food was exquisite and the service was flawless. It is such a pleasure to have a dining experience where everyone who serves you is impeccably trained and the food is delicious!
Exceptional in every sense!
Food was good but service is very slow and laid back.
We enjoyed our meal at the Kauai Grill. The service was outstanding. The cocktails were very good. We did the chef’s tasting menu. The green bean custard amuse bouche was yummy. The first course was a spin on shrimp cocktail with delicious horseradish panda cotta. The second course was seated foie gras-not my favorite but my wife loved it. Third was butter poached lobster. Very good. Fourth was beef tenderloin. We added truffled mashed potatoes. Excellent. We finished with the chocolate dessert with pistachio tuiles. Delicious!!
Exceptional view; excellent service; $75 for a veal chop and three tiny peppers is excessive. Warm , cozy atmosphere destroyed by loud noisy children in adjoining booth.
Celebrated our anniversary here and were treated like a king and queen! Complimentary champagne, time on the private balcony and a special dessert. Our waiter Frank was the BEST!
The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The view at sunset was breathtaking!
Excellent restaurant, food, service and view fantastic. Great place to celebrate any special occasion.
We had the tasting menu which was outstanding! Hard to choose a favorite. Very pricy but worth it for a special occasion. The service was uniformly warm and professional. I'll have a drink at the bar upstairs while I'm saving for my next visit.
We enjoy going out for a good, often expensive, dinner once while we’re on vacation, but this was Very, very expensive. Too expensive for what we ate. Almost $400, with tip, for two shared salads, four entrees, one shared dessert, and two glasses of wine. Food was good, but not that good. The view is gorgeous, but next time we’ll just go for drinks and enjoy the view that way. Would not go back for dinner.
Overall we had a great meal and had a fantastic waiter. The view from the table was fantastic. We were relaxed and ate at a comfortable pace. Highly recommend.
