We love dining at the Kauai Grill. The staff are very welcoming and professional - service is always excellent. Our waiter, Frank, was wonderful and was very accomodating to our needs. The food and beverages were excellent and the sunset view spectacular. It doesn't get much better than this. I highly recommend Kauai Grill for fine dining.
SO delicious. Worth the high price tag. We celebrated our last night in Kauai there and everything we ate was divine.
The view on the veranda at sunset is fabulous. Service was excellent, very attentive. Food was good but not great.
Beautiful place but very warm sitting by the windows to see the spectacular sunset view. This restaurant needs shades to filter the sun. Music at times was way to aggressive for this high end atmosphere. Signature dish was the Maui Maui and it was over cooked.
The food was good. The best part of our meal was the roasted brussels. Magi magi and scallop dishes were good. Dessert was meh. The view was outstanding. Service too.
Very good food but pricey as it is at the St Regis. Worth the money if you love good food and wines.
This restaurant has beautiful views of Hanelai Bay. They do not have any type of shades so it was beyond bright in the dining room before sunset. The service was good. The Mahi Mahi was nice and light. The tuna was quite good as well. The salted Carmel Ice Cream sundae was good but needed more chocolate sauce. Very pricey for good not fabulous food.
The restaurant looks like it has not been refreshed since the 80’s; oddly dark after the sun sets. Not one bit of food was better than mediocre. 50 bucks for three tough and dry scallops. Kaua’i is wonderful, but this place needs a rethink.
Spectecular spot! This is our favorite restaurant in Princeville. Sweeping view of Bali Hai accompanied by well presented dishes and good services. We have dined here numerous times and it is our go to place for special occassion, birthday, anniversary...etc.
Every aspect of this meal was perfect, the food, staff, location, ambiance, everything!
Amazing food, but the service was terrible. The staff was very friendly, but for the late time of day, didn't understand why we had to wait almost 1.5 hours for our dinner. With the high prices, I expected more. Would not go back.
Astonishing views but food seemed mass produced and flavors a bit repetitive- lots of fennel and caramelized onions
Love the St Regis and the food here at the Kauai Grill is delicious. Wish they had a better sunset setup- pretty glaring.
The staff are very attentive and friendly. This was our second time at the Kauai Grill and they did not disappoint! Both times we had the tasting menu. The shrimp dish with horse radish panacotta was amazing. We also loved the foix gras with beets and anis jelly - a combination we didn't expect to love but absolutely DID! And our other favorite of the evening was the beef. It was so incredibly tender and delicious it melted in your mouth. We chose to get the wine pairings - but I'm not sure we'd do it again. The red wine with the lobster course didn't go well together for me. Next time I think I'll order glasses separately to accompany a few of the dishes. But the other wine choices were great.
The Kauai Grill wasn't quite as spectacular as we thought, but it was most enjoyable. The scallops were wonderful; my filet was a bit over cooked. Service was good. Prices are high.
After dinner, we very much enjoyed the upstairs bar/cocktail lounge. Service was excellent, as was the entertainment.
It has been our anniversary tradition when we're on Kauai - fine dining, good views of the sunset and Hanalei Bay, and a very expensive evening. The food is good, not great. Same with the service. I keep making the reservation, and the dinner is consistently good. The hotel public areas are beautiful, and the evening is fun overall.
Unfortunately my husband and I couldn’t make it before sunset so we didn’t get to see the view. The restaurant inside is nice. Nothing too special without the view other than a fancy restaurant. But the food was amazing! Probably one of the best meals we’ve ever had and we’ve dined in a lot of fantastic restaurants over the years. The Japanese sea bass was out of this world!
We wanted one “fancy” dinner while on vacation with our family in Kauai. We requested a view of the bay which we got. Unfortunately it was a dreary, rainy sunset but the view of the hillside and waterfalls was still nice. The food here was tasty. My teens couldn’t get over how “small” the food was because they are used to casual family style places. We all enjoyed our meals. Just be aware the sides are separate and can add up quickly in cost but are good for two people to share. That said, this place is not for the budget conscience. The ambiance is quiet and dark. The decor is that of a hotel restaurant. It seems like they could do an upscale island feel to match the hotel theme. Our server, Chris, was attentive. Staff was friendly. Overall, it was a good experience but nothing specific to the island or special. Probably wouldn’t return unless we were staying in the property and we wanted the convenience.
Very convinient for hotel guests, however it took a very long time for food to come out and once it finally came on the table it was cold. I had to send my steak back because it was cold.
Overpriced with spotty service - our main dish arrived before we finished our salads then we waited 25 minutes for dessert and another 20 for the check
Great view of the sunset but reserving a table in advance does not guarantee a view table
Large room with dated decor gets loud very quickly - we could not hear one another at a table for 4
One of the best dinners over all that our family has had. It’s view is one of the best and most beautiful in the world and the service and food outstanding.
The service was slow and the food was just average. The ambience felt more like Vegas. Not our style.
We were celebrating our Anniversary. We were able to sit in the same table we did after our wedding on Kee Beach. We enjoyed every minute of the gorgeous atmosphere. And fabulous food.
We will always return!
5 star across the board!
Located in the St. Regis Hotel, the setting is breathtaking - large windows facing Hanalei bay so you get a perfect sunset view, tables are large and spaced nicely apart so you aren't listening to someone else's conversation. The service is friendly, yet professional and impeccable. The selection is well rounded and the food is heavenly! Specialty cocktails are available - and quite tasty - as well as a full bar. This is a perfect meal.
It is on the $$$ scale, but that is expected at such a quality restaurant.
Definitely a Must-Dine if visiting Princeville, and worth the drive if staying anywhere else on Kaua'i
First the view from the Grill is exceptional. You have to see the sunset if you seat by the window. We were very impressed my husband and I with the service and the food.
It was a fabulous dinner and I have to say I was a little concerned at first because the hotel amnesties look so old and the restaurant itself a little outdated but I’m glad everything went well. Thank you Reilly for taking care of us.
The view is phenomenal! Food was good but nothing amazing. Service was fine. Prices were too high for what you get.
Overall the experience was lovely. Great food and service. The view was gorgeous and we were seated in a fantastic spot. The only downside, I’ve been charged twice on my credit card and they can’t reverse it immediately because of the credit card system they use and it is the weekend. Not the issue you want to be dealing with or worrying about on your holiday. If it wasn’t for that I would say five stars for sure.
The food and the view is exceptional. The prices are a bit excessive, so beware.
Family dinner for 8. Large table. Great service. Solid drinks. I had the surf and turf. It was legit. We all had a great time.
The food here was absolutely phenomenal. I went with the surf and turf, while my husband got a fish plate. We were both blown away by the taste of the lobster; the best either of us have had by far. Great service, everyone was very on top of things, ensuring our experience was worth the price. A little pricey, but we both agreed it was worth it.
Food was excellent and our server Billy was great.
One of the most beautiful locations in the world. Staff and views were amazing, although portions were quite small.
Ideal for a very special occasion (for me, it was my 40th birthday), the cuisine is exceptional, location ideal and romantic; however, the sun through the window with no shading left many diners around me wearing sunglasses, and me and my family vying for unblinding seats. Wearing my sunglasses ruined the beauty of my ahi tuna appetizer, and I wouldn't give up its perfect appearance to stare more comfortably at the coast. We were surprised that entrees were very a la carte; however, the flavor and appearance were delightful. The service was amiable, professional, and attentive. The cost is definitely prohibitive, but I can recommend this for a very special occasion. Lastly, it was just fine for our 8-year old. They offered a kids' menu, brought her food out early, and the atmosphere was formal enough for the occasion, but informal enough for tickle wars in the booth.
Great food and service. Was given a complimentary glass of champagne, as we were celebrating our honeymoon, which was a nice touch. My only complaint is that, for the price, the portions were small.
Amazing experience, from be waiter bringing us out in the patio for a sunset picture to the octopus, the best meal we’ve had thus far
Incredible. The food was just so delicious. The view was simply stunning. Everything about this experience was so good. Our favorite of our trip to Kauai. Just exquisite. It’s not to be missed.
Fantastic good and great service.
Great location and service. The food was good but not exceptional for the price. The sunset view is awesome.
Top notch views over Hanalei Bay; photos don’t do it justice. Allow at least 2.5 hours for a 3 course meal, and if you want to take in the sunset make sure that your reservation takes that into consideration. My wife and I went mid-week and it only got busier (and louder) around 7:45 pm. We tried the 3 course menu with wine sampling and I have to say it was incredible and well thought out. It is definitely a world class fine dining experience, and it should come as no shock to patrons that the prices are reflective of this remarkable experience.
We have been to the island five times. First time here at the location. EXCELLENT view. !!!!
