We went for my other half’s birthday and took our 1 year old. He (the one year old) loved the California roll. Everything we ordered was amazingly delicious.

The food was good. Ambiance was pretty nice too. I was just upset and the service. It took a while for my wife and me to be attended to. And then this is a Japanese Restaurant, and they were out of the Japanese beer!!! WTF!!! These two factors put me in a bad mood for the diner. I wanted to leave, but wifey wanted to stay. The girl who waited on us was very nice. But the sushi was very good, very fresh. The butterfly shrimp was very good too. The waygu ribeye looked off the meat rack. This will be the reason I go back, to order it. Spot is okay. I would recommend you try it out to see if you like it. There is a little club/Bar in the hotel towards the back. I liked that. Drinks are expensive. So if you are going to get bent, be ready to spend some cheese. 7 or 8 oz. Peroni set me back $12.90. No telling how much a glass of scotch is. But the spot is tight; there were many bangin shorties there who were with their girls. Definite chances to bag something up.

Has really gone down since last time there. Prices are up. Portions are down. Food was not that good. Place very empty at 8:30 pm, prime time. So maybe I am not only person feeling that way. Will not go back..

Having been a fan of this place for years this was a rather disappointing visit. None of the dishes tasted as fresh as previous visits and most seemed to have been pre-prepared and reheated for our eating pleasure. We ended up having the miso cod taken off the menu as it was so overcooked. Cocktails and edamame as well as service was great.

I was disappointed with my experience at Katsuya. I've always loved Katsuya in LA, but the South Beach location had some issues. It took more than ten minutes for someone to help my husband and me with a drink order, and we opted to sit at the sushi bar, not realizing that our omekase would come as a whole order, not piece by piece, as is often the case at some sushi bars. There was a problem with our sushi order, and the wine we wanted was unavailable. We were celebrating my husband's birthday so overall, the experience was lackluster.

Waiter forgot half of our food. When it came sushi rice was terrible - supermarket sushi is WAY better. Rice was over cooked. Told waiter he agreed brought a different roll with same issue. Clothes smell like KFC oil bath. Waiter was polite but service was terrible. 18% service charge when service should have been 1.8%.

Located at SLS Hotel on Collins, Dinner reservations recommended. Valet parking available por USD30.00

Food and service were good, but overall not excellent.

The Wagyu and Foie Gras on Robata and the Rainbow Roll were very good, for these I could come back. However, we did not like the Rock Shrimp starter, and the Whitefish tiradito was ok.

We tried a french pinot noir, Bouchard, and it was great.

Amazing sushi, possibly the best in South Beach. I loved the Katsuya roll and the tuna hand roll. The ceviche was incredible too.

The food was ok. Nothing worth remembering . The biggest problem was the service. Very slow and the place was not busy. I don't know if it was because there was only two of us, or because it was my daughter and I? But service was not good at all. Took long time before we were even greeted by our server and then that continued to be how we were treated. I was very disappointed.
The one positive is how they greet you when you walk in! Cute and fun!

Every time I go it gets worse here, I’m finally done. Firstly the food has gone downhill, it’s still decent but not anywhere close to a good value. The biggest problem is the dining room has gone downhill and now seems old a dingy. The service is abysmal, they rush you out of there and if you’re in the restaurant for more than an hour they are very unhappy. They also have no idea how to run a reservation system, they shove you in early yet the place sits 3/4 empty waiting for who knows what. I’d advise you to go to one of the many better sushi places.

Upon entry we were greeted by Nick the dining room manager. He took a few moments to get us seated while making some great recommendations to get our evening started. The tapas style dining allows you to have several menu items without getting overwhelmed. Some of my favorites included the brussels sprouts, maitake mushrooms, and the filet with foie grad. The sashimi selection is a great way to start and a no brainer if you’re dining with a group. The food comes out as it’s ready so it allows you to really appreciate the flavors and composition of each dish. The dragon room (located upstairs) is perfect for an after dinner drink or to book private parties.

Food presentation was very typical of any sushi restaurant. I expected more considering the hype. The variety of Sake was very limited. Should have had more regions and sake artist of Japan represented if they truly want to be a "High End" sushi establishment. A big disappointment.

This was our first time at Katsuya- South Beach. We chose the restaurant because of the location in the SLS hotel and we have never been disappointed. My wife and I ordered the tasting menu. Wow. Delicious and expertly prepared and presented. The portions seemed small at first but by the end of dinner I was unable to finish my plate. This is now on our definite list for next trip.

This restaurant promised much more than it delivered. The raw fish (sushi/sashimi) was average, the sushi rice was wet and not what you’d expect from a place like this. It’s very pricey. We’ve done much better at our local place on West 72nd St. in NYC which is about 1/3 of the price. Very disappointing.

Service was awful. I had been here on 2 other occasions and was happy to recommend it. Unfortunately, this time it took us 45 minutes to get our drinks, we had to get up twice to track down someone to help us. They said they would comp one round of drinks due to the problems but the bill didn't reflect that promise. At that point we were so annoyed we didn't feel like wasting any more of our time trying to get them to re-do the bill and we left. I will not be back.

My biggest complaint might be how difficult it is to find. In a hotel. In the back. Through another restaurant. No signage. Ha. Close tables and loud noise so don’t go if you want quiet privacy. As for the food, it was pretty good. The rolls are average but we also got tuna, ceviche, and goyza. I have to single out that the Waygu goyza was hands down the best I’ve ever had. Might be a tad pricy but not that far out of line. My date was surprised there wasn’t a glass of wine under $20. I’d recommend the place though!
