Good food. Service wasn’t that great.
Love Katsuya and love the food. But !!! The music is outrageously bad and really ruined the mood of a nice date night. I mean come on- why are we listening to Savage Garden, Oasis, and Sugar Ray, at a sexy dimly-lit restaurant where you will spend $400 on dinner? Apparently it’s a regular thing with the 90s music at Katsuya. I couldn’t wait to leave and find a better vibe.
The food was fresh, for the price it was expensive. In terms of our seat, it was cramped. I wouldn’t give this a five star restaurant. It was a good time but nothing over the top.
is a very expensive restaurant but you are treated like in a diner- i did not finish the second course and she put the bill
on the table?!?!
353 dollars by the way...
Delicious, creative sushi and other Japanese dishes. Really flavorful. Service was impeccable.
Very good waiter with food suggestions for my pescciiarian girlfriend. 10/10 would recommend to a friend as Miami’s top sushi place
Worst waiter ever. The food is outstanding!
Food is pretty good. Not a real robata. Service is spotty. Hotel lobby entrance shabby and not sheik.
Had reservations. Was seated promptly. However no one came to offer us a drink or food for 10 mins. Fortunately the mgr came by to get things started. He understood the issue and comp’d a round of champagne. Good recovery. The rest of the experience was very good.
Poor service, mediocre food, not overly priced but for sure could have been better
Not as advertised, an upscale innovative Japanese restaurant. Food was pedestrian (to be charitable) and overpriced (but not more than elsewhere in South Beach). Kid friendly though so has a definite niche.
All the rolls tasted the same, i wouldn’t go back.
The service was horrible. Mike our waiter honestly forgot about us and we had to trail him down multiple times. You can food like Katsuya in most big metropolitan cities and so the service should be top notch to compete.
Terrible service. Overpriced food. Stay away and save your money.
La comida es realmente buena, nunca probé el sushi, SI la comida japonesa, las increíbles verduras (hongos, Bruselas, etc), las carnes, lis pescados. Todo excelente!!
Has been disapointed this time. Many items of the menu weren't as good as usual.
The mushroom risotto was the worst , too sweet...
Birthday dinner for a friend. Food and service were all good. A little pricey but that’s south beach for you.
Excelente la comida!!!!! Venimos a este restaurante cada vez que estamos en Miami. La comida es fuera de serie. Importante dar con un mozo q hable tu idioma.
They were extremely accommodating with your late arrival as well as our one constraint.
Very good food. Tables are a bit to close together. Overall solid spot.
The food is simply awesome! There is not one dish that I can complain about. Just perfect!
We felt rushed
Very nice restaurant, did feel like the passion has diminished a little. Could be time for a refresh.
Best Japanese experience outside of Japan! Delicious fish and meat
Food was wonderful. I liked the atmosphere - high ceilings, oversized photos, etc. There were a fair amount of families around 6:30. Our fish entrees were spectacular! Portions were small so order rice with your entree or get an appetizer with rice. Service not so good. Our waiter apologized for taking so long to get us drinks and said he would take care of us after that but the rest of the service was still slow. When we asked for extra rice or forks and when we ordered a sushi roll mid meal, it took forever to get what we wanted. The server was friendly. Maybe it was a kitchen issue. I might go back because of the delicious entrees the next time we're in town.
Wish I saw other reviews before I made the reservation. Service was bad. Food was good but not great! Will definitely not come back.
Food comes out “when it’s ready”. Our hot appetizer came out luke warm and our sashimi didn’t make it out at all. Sushi was good but not great. My martini however that was in a 3/4 filled small glass was $19. That’s insane.
Food was sub par. Small portions and very pricey. Not impressed at all. Would not go back
Service was poor. Food was covered in sauce that masked the actual meat/fish. Go to Nobu....
Never disappointed at this place- I frequent often. Brussel Sprouts a must!
We loooooooooove eating here. It's always terrific
The rolls were delicious but too big
Fish was fresh, sauces seemed old/had been sitting/coagulated
“Wagyu” had old meat foul taste and was tough
Shrimp had cheap import taste and texture- expected taste from cheap Chinese takeout, not Katsuya
Sushi was good
Service was good
Overall very disappointing not what expected after reading reviews
No excuse for the poor food quality- chef had to know
Would not go back
Love the hotel where Katsuya is located. The restaurant itself looks great and was well decorated. The waitress seemed to be very nice. But both her and every server we encountered whispered. Not sure why that’s a thing.
Meet ordered drinks and then the tasting menu. Getting another drink was a pain all night. The struggle is real. Waived a buzzer down and got drinks ordered one by one because they kept running off.
The first courses were very good. There was a grilled platter that had some amazing beef and sea bass. The sushi course was not very good. Would tell you what was in it but I could not hear the whisper. Then the waitress said desert was next unless we wanted more of what we just had. Dessert was nice.
So $450 for three people is not bad for Miami Beach. But o could have an amazing omakase at Nobu for that. No clue why this place is rated so high. Maybe an off night?
It’s really sad that Food is really good there but the service is very bad. I wouldn’t go back there. They gotta change the hostess and the manager for sure
$11 for a SINGLE piece of yellowtail - seriously? If it were blue-fin we could understand or maybe two pieces of yellowtail. With mandatory egregious tip and tax - $30 for appetizers is similarly over-priced and excessive. The steak with mushrooms was as though someone decimated a steak into 8 tiny pieces that were dried out and over-done, or used left-over pieces. The mushrooms were drenched in oil. The miso-cod was tiny and came with NOTHING. Our glass of over-priced rose had lipstick on it and eventually we were able to persuade staff to please get us a new one. Then they brought the check with higher prices for 2 drinks than on the menu and acknowledged they were aware of this and others had similar issues and ‘brought it to the manager to correct it.’
Not the greatest quality sashimi, black cod was bland, sushi was good. Miso soup was barely warm. Room looks like it needs updating.
Awful service but miso cod is amazing!
This was our second time at Katsuya. The service is great, the food is amazing, and the environment is visually very appealing. It is a noisy atmosphere and conversation requires a bit of a yell for all to be heard, so probably not great for a business dinner where work is to be done. But that isn’t what this place is for! A very enjoyable experience every time.
