We ate outdoors. Loved it. Accomodating staff
Food was good. Sashimi was a little to thick for my liking, but good quality sushi.
They will not let you order from lunch menu when there are a lot of people because of the conference and make you order from their dinner menu. Just FYI.
Too big, too noisy, too hurried, anxious overworked waiters, Not relaxing. Food ok, service is good, but not friendly.
It’s always top notch at Katsuya. We love it.
Food was good, however a little disappointed that we couldn’t change rolls with California roll base to Spicy Tuna base for our party member that was allergic to shell fish.
All other sushi restaurants easily make this accommodation. They also only offer roll that does not have shellfish.
Went out after a comedy show, arrived late, they still took us. It was not crowded at all. Food was good #lobsterroll
Food was good.
Menus between Katsuya's vary, so not always good.
Waitress was very good, not perfect, but very good.
Location was location, not much on that.
Restaurant was nice. No issues.
Food was very good / excellent. Shimp dynamite appeitzer = excellent. Black Cod dinner = excellent.
It is a LA Live site. So the restaurnt, like the others, lets its guard down. Too many people, too little time, too much drama - and they play defense. Food = excellent. Our waitress = very good but missed here and there. Area = whatever.
Excellent service. Good food . Nice and friendly staff 😊
This is my second time in Katsuya but it was in Hollywood I was so happy we tried this location. Our waiter Sean is so good very professional considering he is taking more table with more than 4 people
The Cod is excellent and pork belly. We are 6 of us and everyone are impressed I chose this restaurant.
We often eat at Katsuya while visiting Los Angeles, and I'm sad to say this was our most disappointing meal ever. Our favorite dish, the spicy tuna on crispy rice, was flavorless and tasted like it had been sitting around for a long time. The salmon on cedar was overcooked, the cedar was actually burned on one side, and had very little of the usually delicious sauce.
Server was impatient, even though the restaurant wasn't that busy, and seemed annoyed with our requests and we didn't even mention the poor food quality to him.
Katsuya always has great food. Service can be a little slow at times. This particular one is very load.
The food is equal to Kabuki but priced like 3 times more.. not fresh or anything that i will say good. mediocre food, not my liking
I took my husband here for his birthday and provided information in advance that we were celebrating this special occasion. While eating here this was not acknowledged. Any other time I’ve celebrated a special occasion and the restaurant is aware there is some form of acknowledgement.
Also, I was a bit annoyed that the waiter stood in front of me and requested that I enter the amount of tip I wanted to give since payment was done electronically.
Really enjoyed our dinner. Food was fantastic
and ambiance was good. Great for our business dinner.
Katsuya has always been on point every time we’ve gone. This last time our waiter seemed overwhelmed. Parts of our order was forgotten. Food came out like warm. Spicy tuna crispy rice was not crispy. It was a REAL disappointment
Food was good for a nice get together before a hockey game at Staples Center. We sat outside with a nice view of the LA Live area.
All good. Food, service, vibe
The food was AMAZING but the service was slow and all the food came out at different times. We couldn't enjoy our meal together.
super convenient before a Clippers game - good food, good drinks -- unsurprisingly too loud for conversation, but that is always a risk at a restaurant so close to Staples center
Amazing food and service! The octopus carpaccio and yellowtail with jalapeño was the best! Definitely will come back if im in LA!
Great food ! Everything we has was delicious !
Great food, rude host, ok service - overall with the food so good recommend. Might prefer outside seating as inside is super loud.
I have been to Katsuya few times in the past years and twice last week, bening my hotel the next door. The reason is my love to Japanese food. However, It seems like the restaurant has lost a bit of its initial fame and level and if in the past It was considered a high level Japanese kitchen, I would classify it today only as quite good, but no more.
The menu looks like of a normal American restaurant with no intention to add to the experience, almost like a road restaurant... Everything is written only in English with no Japanese names for the dishes. The waiters got no knowledge of Japanese food and sell it to you as if it was a McDonald.
But the food was quite good and some dishes were excellent, what saved the whole experience, in the end I walked in in order to enjoy the food.
Waitress was a bit pretentious but otherwise good atmosphere
One dinner came out 15 minutes before the other and it took forever to get a glass of water
My boyfriend ordered the Miso Black Cod, and I ordered the Pork Belly with a side of rice. We also shared the Sunset eel roll, and the ceviche. Everything was in perfect portions! We also shared a bottle of Marui Family Genshu Nigori which is our favorite sake to date! It was overall a great night, and I look forward to returning!
Game at Staples
The hostess and servers and amazing! Food..so very nice!!!!! This was my third time there in a month. Loved each visit!!!!!
I was a bit disappointed. The sushi was average at best. We had to ask twice for our server. The Katsuya Ceviche was very good. We sent one roll back called the BSC. The server said, "Yeah. That roll is not very good." I wish she would have warned us. First time for us to send a roll back....ever. Our bill for 4 was really pricey considering the quality and service.
The food was wonderful but the service was terrible. Went with a group of 5 on a Monday night when the restaurant was only half full. One small roll came out for one in our party and then we didn't get any one else's orders for almost 40 mins. When we were finally able to flag down our waiter to ask, he was barely able to offer an explanation and unapologetic. The sushi was excellent but I wouldn't recommend based on service.
The restaurant was not busy, and it still took me, no exaggeration, 75 minutes to get the lunch I ordered, which was a simple sushi sample plate. The person I was eating with got his food 35 minutes before I did was completely done and cleared before I got my food. The waiter came by 1 time during this to say he was pushing for the food, but they were very backed up. The restaurant was around 40% full at the time. Very poor experience.
Had a quick bite before a concert. Food just melts in your mouth!!! Yum yum!!!
Great food. Make a reservation to save on waiting time.
Food was off the chain. Our waitress was very nice and recommended food from the menu.
Food was good and arrived very quick.
We had a great night and our waiter was awesome. Attentive and friendly.
The food is very consistent
