Lovely staff and great recommendations from the chef. We had different dietary requests at our table and all were met and yummy too!!!
Excellent sushi choices!
Everything was good and food was good as well. When I made the reservation I added that it was a birthday and received a confirmation that dessert would be provided but waiter didn’t bring anything out
Great food and awesome staff. Really friendly and helpful
Family time they love sushi. Everything was great and service was super fast today considering they had lots of people out there for Kobe memorial.
We come here for the Lakers games and it’s always great
We booked this for my husband’s birthday a few weeks ago- what an incredible night to be there when the first Lakers game was taking place next door. Incredible food and incredible service.
We went there to watch a Laker game. There are several TVs, but it is not ideal for watching a game intently. The food was pretty good! If you want good sushi without the LA Live experience go here. Don’t go here if you want to watch a game. The game will be on, but it’s not super easy to see TVs and you can’t here anything. SERVICE WAS INCREDIBLE, very patient, good people.
Quick service, quality food and presentation. Can't wait to go again, next time at an event LA Live
Katsuya has consistently good food and beverages, but what really stands out at Katsuya LA LIve is the service! Everyone from hosts to bartenders to servers is exceptionally friendly and attentive.
Service was great! Food was just okay though for the price. Small pieces and quantity of sushi for high price
The restaurant was almost empty and we were seated in a very high traffic area, when I asked they said there were reservations which I had made many days before
Food was served sporadically no plates
The fish quality was questionable. Two of the fish on the sushi platter had skin on them, altho the chef said one wasn’t skin, it was part of the fish. Regardless both were chewy and not enjoyable at all. I believe this Katsuya is not up the quality of other locations. We won’t return.
Showed up for reservation 30 minutes early and was told the kitchen would be closing soon in 15 minutes. Also out of 4 items we tried to order.
This was our New Year’s eve dinner I made our reservations at 9:45 got to the restaurant at 9:30 and got sat at our table . waitress rushed over to throw our menus on the table and told us that our reservations were too late and then we were to hurry they had last call and would only serve us one drink???? We tried to make the most of this we ordered three drinks each and our dinner we were told that we needed to leave by 11:15 and we did I would never go back to this restaurant I would never send anyone that I know back to this restaurant absolutely the worst organization I’ve ever seen I have ever seen in a restaurant . Not once did I see a manager or was asked if everything was OK Rush rush rush take our money and get out I hope this place closes down
New Year’s Eve
This Katsuya is nice but we prefer the menu at other locations. It is also much more expensive than the other locations we are familiar with. Certain items are not offered such as brown rice (only white), tepannyaki, corn tempura and free tea. Sushi was good but again, more expensive for the exact same items and quality of other locations.
Great as usual
Way overpriced for the amount of food you get.. I wouldn’t have an issue with quality over quantity but the quality was subpar for sure.. I guess you pay for the location which was convenient, but other than that I won’t be eating here again..
Food was great but the service was very unorganized! Waiter was not attentive enough but he also was very busy. But it should be when you ask another waiter for something simple like a spoon and wait over 10 minutes and then had to ask another waiter as my bread pudding was cold ! You guys need more waiters working together to help
Service was better then my recent experiences.
The drinks were skimpy and so we had to spend an extra $35 for another round.
It was an awesome experience before a concert. The food was delicious and the waiter’s recommendation was outstanding. Will definitely return with friends.
Great food and love the restaurant overall
Two diners ordered sushi and two ordered non-sushi items. The two sushi orders came out 10 minutes later which made it uncomfortable for the rest of the table while they were eating.
Food great I’d, but service was terrible. Had to ask waiter three times for sugar, three more times for an iced tea, and then he disappeared.
We went before the laker game and had a great meal. Service was really good and fast and the food is always consistently good. We got done quickly and made it by the game on time
Great food!!! We were a bit rushed trying to get to a show at Staples Center and our waiter was very sensitive to our situation and did an awesome job getting everything out quickly. We were celebrating a bday and I was willing to skipped the recognition, but he insisted and we still got to the show on time. Try the spicy tuna with crispy rice - a unique combination.
The service was pretty bad. They forgot to bring like 3-4 dishes. And we needed to remind the runner and waiter. Waiter was nice but he didn’t check on us much and the restaurant was pretty empty
Migel our sushi chef was so attentive
Food was fantastic!
For the price of the plates, it does not compare to the Brentwood restaurant.
I find Katsuya hit or miss. For example, at our last visit, the food was outstanding! Best Katsuya experience ever. However, even when it's not on point, its good. The service is always amazing...consistently friendly and helpful. As the "go to" prior to an LA Lakers/Clipper/King/concert event, one challenge is that it gets busy. Seating, service and the thoughtful food preparation can suffer. I guess that's the price we pay to pay that price. Katsuya always sets the standard in sushi for me.
Food was amazing. The service was really great. We had a few allergies and they more than accommodated and tended to us.
It was game night and it was somewhat empty when we arrived, this would soon change. We arrived at 5pm and they did not have my reservation I made through Open Table but they found us seating. Everyone was very polite but our seating area was in a high traffic area and we asked to move to one of the other empty tables out of the traffic zone but were told they were reserved. It was crazy loud, impossible to hear someone across the table without talking really loud and I was constantly being bumped. Food was good, service was ok. I hadn’t been there on game night before.
The truly impressive thing that sticks in my head, staff were polite even when slammed. Service suffered last night but the staff did it with a genuine smile. That says a lot. Game night is chaos but don’t let that stop you from going. It is a good place for food and to start a night out.
Additional Note: don’t stick to just sushi! The menu is fun and eclectic. Let your tastebuds go for a walk and have some fun!!
Many flies outside.
We had late reservations following a Clippers game. Restaurant was virtually empty when we came in and service was a bit spotty. Had the chicken salad and it was not much different than the bagged salads you but at Coatco. There is fierce competition in DTLA and this place was disapponting.
Amazing sushi and great atmosphere. Food came out super quickly and the hot tea was yummy. We LOVED the nitrogen cheesecake. It was so much fun and very delicious. Would go back. Perfect for a post game or pre game bite for games at Staples. Fine dining experience, the service is exceptional, but also casual for the post game vibe. Expensive, but to be expected.
