The sushi was fantastic and the service was great. At a prime location at LA live.
Though it was a busy night, our server did his best to manage all of his tables. It took quite a bit of time to receive our food.
Excellent food but you can tell they're understaffed. It took a while to get our appetizers which actually came in after our main course. Also, it is really hard to understand the waiters or anyone when the place is loud and employees have to wear masks. Not their fault but it is something that definitely affects the experience.
They don’t validate LA Live parking anymore!
Once again service, food and atmosphere was outstanding. We truly enjoyed our pre-game meal and Sake!
The entire staff welcomed us warmly and attended to every need.
Defnitely, a favorite that we will continue to visit.
Food was good but we waited for a while til our waitress got my wine order right and when she did my wine selection wasn’t available
Horrible food and service. Waiter messed up our order multiple times bc he couldn’t hear us. Waste of money.
Table for 5 was too small could NOT enjoy the food and all the plates
I understand it was busy but the people helping the waiters they do not acknowledge you had to wait to get soya sauce 🤦♀️
Our WAITER was nice but others should acknowledge you
They just walk by you even though we raised our hand
Excellent location for fine dining near Staples Center.
Food runner had a little mixup with our order which meant that we got our last item after we had paid the bill, but our server was so attentive and on top of things that it made up for any inconvenience. Very efficient service before a Lakers game.
Katsuya has always been one of my favorite restaurants and I hadn’t been back since pre-pandemic so I was very excited to have dinner there before the Laker game.
I can honestly say this was one of the worst dining experiences I have had.
First off… they over booked the restaurant… the low number of staff/chefs working was not enough to handle all the tables. I get it.. make as much money as you can on game night but this was outrageous.
We sat right away and ordered 3 appetizers and drinks… about 35 minutes after ordering we rec’d our drinks that were not full.. but whatever at that point so then we order dinner and tell the waiter that no apps have come out yet.
About 15 minutes after that an order of popcorn shrimp comes out that looks dried up and a day old (just fyi this was not any of the appetizers we had ordered 45 min prior)… but we were so hungry that we all took one in our plates and my son finds a hair on his 🤮. We all spit out what we had in our mouths and at that point I’m so disgusted. So we talk to the waiter and he apologized and went to talk to the manager about our food still not arriving and the hair in our food. (I know it happens and I know it was not intended… obviously)
After about another 10-15 min some food came out 2 baked crab rolls and a spicy tuna roll. The crab rolls were also dried out and gross ($40) but we just ate … still no original appetizers and no hot food and no shrimp replacement.
The manager comes out and we tell him what food has not come out (almost everything) and we want another order or drinks and he says ok I’ll go get everything and the drinks are on him..
It’s about an hour and a half in and the 2nd round of drinks arrive which were full and the rest of our food starts coming out .. no appetizers yet… and no replacement shrimp.
It was just a bad dining experience for the price. We ended up cancelling the rest and the manager still charged us for the 2nd round of drinks but took 30% off our bill.
Had a really nice time catching up with old friends.
Terrible service. There for 90 minutes and never got 3 of out of our 7 dishes ordered. Had to leave to go to a basketball game. Asked for manager and had to wait 15 min for the manager.
Amazing food and knowledgeable and flexible staff. It was a great dining experience.
amazing score 10 all around from the beginning til the end ! Well Done Sbe
Delicious sushi and customer service! Definitely coming back .
Waitress came by every 25 minutes. Food was super expensive for what you get. I got a $25 corn pop roll because it was recommended and it was so bad.
No music in the restaurant again. Felt like a mess hall not a high end sushi place. Menu was on a piece of paper or online.
Food was great. They seem understaffed. Our server was sweating but he was trying hard and was holding it up.
Dining there Is not what it used to be but food quality was high.
Eh. Food was average. I used to love this place. Could have just been having an off night.
came here before a lakers game and had a great date night--was easy and fast!
It was too loud for me. It’s a bit dated! They need a makeover.
Service was excellent! Sushi was fresh and delicious! Enjoyed dining outside on patio.
Overpriced but solid, great location
Had the most amazing meal at Katsuya! My favorites were Unagi, Salmon Lemon, and Corn Crunch roll they tasted unbelievable!
Fantastic way to end the evening. Enjoyed great service and great food and beverage (Sake!!)
Beautiful evening. The service was great and so was the pacing of the food. We were a party of 6 with a lot of food to share but he came out spaced appropriately so we could enjoy everything. The server also recommended a few things of his own to us that were awesome. And went all the way outside to take pictures for our group to remember the day! Great evening from start to finish.
Yes we loved it
Once again the meal was fabulous. drinks and servvice were outstranding. Definitely will be coming back again soon.
It's always been overpriced and has always had bad service (this location) but our visit there TH night was worse than ever- the food portions were so much smaller than They use to be , my baked crab hand rolls for $29 were cold and the size of a magic marker.. first roll we ordered never even came, we remembered when the bill came and THEN it came out.. service sucks caked but of course the bill was still obnoxiously high. I will never go back/ the only reason we ended up there was because every other place was packed of people watching the Dodgers game
We were there before a Kings game. It was so busy that our kids meals almost didn’t make it in time. Our server, Andrew, was amazing. He kept trying to get our food out. He also kept the drinks comings. If it weren’t for him, our night would’ve been bad.
I’ve been to many Katsuyas and this experience was by far the worse. The service was not good. We always had to ask for the waiter. The potions were very small and the quality seems inferior to other katsuya locations. Honestly - it felt like a total waste of money.
Overall, restaurant is overrated. It is in a great location, but the sushi is average and overpriced. Pretty much the same as grocery sushi.
We waited an hour and a half for our food. The waitress and manager came over and apologized. At the end of the meal. the waitress offered to ask her manager if he would give us any sort of discount since we had to wait so long but he said no. I would not recommend this place.
Dinner before a concert
Food was amazing as always, service was a bit delayed but nevertheless Katsuya never disappoints.
Food was amazing, it was super busy due to the Luke Bryan concert. Our waiter ran his but off; great people watching eating in the bar area. Miso Black cod is amazing…
Had dinner before concert at Staples center. Great location for that. Service was great as well. Negative, the Sushi menu selection and the quality of the food was average. We expected much better for the prices they charge.
The manager came around to each table to greet patrons.
