We have eaten here 4 times before and the food was usually good...not super.
This time we both started to get 'stomach rumblings' right after dinner...and,YES we had to
visit the bathroom 3 times in the next 30 minutes.
We went back to the manager after the show we were seeing and he said he had to get
it to "corpate" and let them make the decision...And we are still waiting to hear from corporate!!!OVER PRICED...AND UNDER DELIVERED!!!

Services was so so.... we asked that all of our sushi rolls came with soy paper, and some did and some we had to send back because they were seaweed. we had to request numerous times for items we ordered that we haven't received. overall the food was ok.. not the best I've had, but it was good.

I probably will not be returning to this location.

Great Food, service, and atmosphere. Top notch. My only wish is that they have a larger selection of sushi rolls

Amazing food and amazing service. Had made a special request for a special desert and the staff paid attention to the detail and helped make the night.

We were initially seated by a group of Moms/girls obviously seeing Aladdin. Luckily the restaurant moved us to a quiet area no questions asked. Food was really good. Albacore, seared tuna appetizer great.

Dined here before and this time was the best. Seated earlier than our reservation, prompt service and delicious food. Ladies enjoyed the Katsuya fresh cocktail. Spicy edamame was the favorite of our vegetarian daughter. Crispy rice with spicy tuna was so good we needed multiple orders as was the baked crab hand rolls made as cut roll. Mushroom and mixed green salad were flavorful. Waygu fried rice, miso black cod, chicken teriyaki completed our meal. All excellent for our guests.

Excellent food, staff, service. Too noisy for our taste, but probably perfect if young and a bit intoxicated...and I mean that in a nice way.

It was not that busy. The servers are very anal at cleaning the table for some reason! Let us enjoy and finish our meal and then you may take our empty plates.

A wonderful quick bite to eat on nye before the chaos of bartending down the street. So glad to squeeze in to a busy night, eat wonderful food and drink lovely saké. Everyone was perfect in serving us. A+ all around. Happy New Year!

Average at best. Poor service, serving the masses get em in and out. Not great for date night too many chidren, too loud, just too damn busy to enjoy a date. Perhaps later hours in the evening are better. Service was poor at best.

Server was nice but food came out in wrong orders, entree before starters and forgot about side order, etc. I have been to the restaurant many times but this time was the worst out of all.

It was a decent dinner, but the service really ruined it and we had a play to go to. Our server was very slow to attend to our table, but was noticeablely more attentive to other tables. At one point our water and wine glasses were completely empty and the used dishes, empty, remained on the table for too long for the reputation of this establishment. I expected much more and was sorely disappointed. I don’t plan on going to this location again.

The food was really not as good as it used to be. Crunchy rice tuna rolls are usually a fave, but they were not good - which is a shame when they are $16 for 4!

Katsuya continues to be one of my favorite spots for business lunch when I am working in the Hollywood area. I am also a fan of this location for evening dinners with my girlfriends. You must try the brussel sprouts and the baked crab hand rolls...absolutely AMAZING!!

Big disappointment. We love Katsu-ya in Studio City and Encino. Sadly, this Katsu-ya falls way short.
I have rarely encountered such an overly solicitous (and thus annoying) staff.
Hand cloths before eating were not offered.
The miso soup was luke-warm, but the rest of our meal was fine. Fine, not great.
The restaurant was dead but there were long lags between courses.
Finally, the dim lighting in the restrooms is RIDICULOUS.
Won’t go back to this Katsu-ya.

Food was great as usual and the waiter's helpers were very attentive. Unfortunately our waiter didn't even acknowledge that we were celebrating a birthday although it was noted on the reservation and the staff confirmed it when they confirmed the reservation. A little disappointing because we drove quite far and do it for several days.

It's a striking place at the nexus of the Hollywood Scene. The bar's Happy Hour offers half-off sushi, which seems like the answer to the Universe...if you can land a seat (they're about a dozen.) It's full on $$$$ for the rest of us. Is it worth it? Ya. The service and the eye-popping crowd can't be beat--even though it's rushed for a reason...and you know what that reason is.
The food is very good though I was disappointed with the quality of the steak. Serves me right for ordering steak, right? Combine this with an orchestra seat at Hamilton across the street and it's back to food stamps.

Excellent service and food; WAY too loud for normal conversation. Also, I'm 6'2" and my chair was too small for a 5 year old; extremely uncomfortable. The hostess should never have seated us in the 'childrens' section. They should get rid of those chairs and institute a no-yelling section.
