Good experience. Dank!!!
Always loved this place in the past...this visit did not live up to past experiences. Party I was with had never been, and I talked the whole experience up and left with a very average view of experience.
We go here because of proximity and valet great for pantages but it is loud and overpriced. Maybe double the smaller katsuya’s. I try to avoid this and the downtown location for this reason. But the food is great and sometimes worth it for the convenience
We had a reservation for 2 at 6:30p but due to traffic, 1 person was 15 minutes late. Even though the other person was on time they would not seat them. We ended up waiting until 6:55pm - we had tickets for an 8pm show so this was a bit rushed & stressful.
Once seated, the food and drinks were really fantastic so it made up for the rough start. The baked crab hand rolls were truly outstanding. We also had a Lychee martini (very smooth and balanced), the special roll (crab, avocado & albacore) which was exceptionally good.
Overall recommend just arrive early or with plenty of time in case you have a wait. Keep in mind a reservation doesn’t guarantee being seated at the requested time.
la cena muy rica, el servicio lento y desordenado, el lugar agradable pero bastante ruidoso
Definitely not the best food in Hollywood. Underwhelmed.
So yummy, especially the spicy tuna on crunchy rice. The only sad part was that we were not allowed to bring in any leftovers into the Pantages Theatre
Love Katsuya Hollywood the service is Amazing!! Food and drinks are yummy just wish it wasn't so expensive. My bill is usually from 400-600.
Everything was good until we got to our check and our waiter didn’t split our check and refused to help us.
Very hip and swanky. Kind of out of the way of the main Hollywood attractions but the food was great.
Great food! The wagu steak is phenomenal!
The manager charged $58 for a gin drink. The bottle does not cost that much to purchase retail. The manager didn’t come to talk to us and made the staff deal with charging the high price for one drink. They were confused by the price and thought it was a mistake as well. Waitress, bartender, and bus staff did a great job.
We've been to Katsuya before, and while the sushi is good, it is so, so, expensive for what it is. For the money, I prefer Nobu or Matsuhisa, and for amazing quality sushi, Sugarfish.
The host and hostess were lackluster and even though there was plenty of open seating in the dining room, we got sat next to the thoroughfare from the kitchen. We requested a quieter table and the host made a huge deal about it and then said we would have to wait 30 minutes if we wanted a different table. Really? It was 9:30pm and the restaurant was empty.
The food was beyond terrible. They don’t even use real crab for their California roll. The spicy tuna was stringy (gross) and didn’t taste fresh. Everything was overpriced and sub-par quality. Our waiter came to our table maybe 3 times at most and spent less than a minute each time.
We were hoping for a romantic post-Phantom of the Opera dinner and it was beyond disappointing. Even as we walked out, the hostess was shoving food in her face and wouldn’t even look at us. I guess this is the place for cheeseball Hollywood wannabe hotshots to bring insta-girls who don’t eat. Not a place for people who actually enjoy good food. Come on Katsuya. Also, maybe sage the place...the energy sucks (literally)
Part of the food was burnt, in addition to a waitress who wasnt great, we barely saw her yet she kept visiting all the tables around us. Terrible service.
Had a great meal here before going to see Phantom of the Opera. The food and atmosphere were great - and we thought the cost of the meal was very reasonable. Very convenient to Pantages as well - a very short walk.
The food and service is always impeccable at Katsuya, however , is it really necessary to have a DJ playing whilst you’re trying to have dinner and a conversation ? Really I don’t need to hear “N*€#% gonna bust it wide open “ over a $30 Lobster Roll ! Loose the DJ Katsuya, it’s ridiculous!
It was fantastic!
Excellent food selection, great service and drinks!
It was my best friends birthday-which I included on the reservation. There was zero acknowledgement of the fact that it was her birthday. This is absolutely unacceptable considering the price point of this restaurant. I am unfortunately extremely disappointed that there is clearly an option to add an occasion but this restaurant clearly does not care.
The Music where too loud, the waiters didn’t pay any attention and we waited a long time for our food.
Definitely not a place that I would visit again.
Amazing food and quality. I look forward to returning very very soon.
Our bartender, Rigo, was amazing! He made a great experience outstanding and we will definitely be going back. The food was delicious and the drinks were incredible. My mom and I had such a great time before our show started. Thank you!
Delicious. Food was served quickly. Tapas style.
We went late and the noise level was very low, perfect for conversation. A couple of hiccups with the service but all-in-all it was an excellent experience and we will be going back!
Love Katsuya! The food, service, music etc is always on point. I’ve been to this location several times but haven’t been for almost a year now. We went for a bachelorette party and started the night with some sushi and drinks. For the prices, I would recommend this place for a special occasion or date. If you want to impress someone with a good sushi place, this is it. As for the food, our go to is the yellowtail sashimi, spicy tuna on crispy rice, crab hand roll, albacore sashimi with crispy onion, popcorn rock shrimp, cucumber salad, and Shisto peppers. Yum yum! Can’t wait to go back for more! Ps great waiter and staff. Friendly and always checking up on the table to make sure we had great service. Cheers!
Hosts were gracious. Bartender was great. We loved dining there before a show at the Pantages. A busser accidentally knocked over our soy sauce, which poured all over our menu, table and pants. He was apologetic and cleaned it up quickly. The server didn't seem to notice or acknowledge this incident. I'm in the service industry and would have offered to move my guests to another table, but our guy was either trying to play it cool, or just didn't care. No manager came over to check on the situation. Also, I asked if I could keep a menu, because we might order some more food and our server said, "No, we're pretty busy and we need them all." I said it has soy sauce all over it and his response was, "It's all good," and then he winked at us as he walked away. Even though he had notes that we were going to the theater, he made no attempt to get us our check, or return our change in any sort of urgent manner. Aside from him, our experience was great.
The sushi quality is not good anymore
Great experience close to pantGes
We came here for the very first time tonight to celebrate Fathers Day. We were greater with kindness and a smile. Seating was comfortable. The wait staff was attentive and their recommendations were very good. The food delicious but the portions were on the small side for the price. The drinks were pricey, 18-20 per drink. Other than that, we would definitely return to this restaurant. Very close to Pantages if your attending the show.
Absolutely yes! The food and service were both excellent!
High end sushi in a high end room. Prices fit the room and the food.
This restaurant had amazing customer service and the food was fantastic. The look of the place is very nice and fancy and has a nice vibe to it.
Food and service was great. Price, not so much.
Nice elegant fine dining place. The wagyu steak was delicious. Sashimi prepared the right way. Efficient service. No delays with meals. Will come back!
Very good Sushi. Only problem was , I was told they don’t make Shrimp Tempura
Great place for impressing out-of-town guests with a "hip" sushi joint. The staff was great, the food very good, but I have had better in those mini-mall gems we all know and love. I will be back, but only for the benefit of my guests.
We had dinner here before the theater, food was excellent , so many wonderful options to choose from it was hard to decide. Favs were robata grilled corn and Wagyu teriyaki, as well as several orders of nigiri - fresh and well presented. It was crowded with other theater goers/celebratory dinners and rather noisy, with tables close together, but atmosphere otherwise was great - dimmed lighting and dark walls gave it a cozy yet elegant feel. I would recommend Katsuya - you’ll pay big bucks but for a special occasion, it’s worth it. Enjoy!
Terrible experience. Terrible service, terrible food.
Loved the combination of stylish ambience, thoughtful service and creative food.
