ordered the BSC and California roll which are basic rolls. the rolls were inedible. my wife got sick and it was very upsetting. we've been to the one in Hollywood with no issues.
Went here for valentines. Waiter messed up order and wasn’t great experience
The food was excellent price is a little too high but serving food was taking way too long specially for Valentines night (we waited almost 2 hours to get our last order) there was only one chef preparing the food!!!
great environment. kids loved the burger. the other items we had were ok.
Great food can be a little warmer on patio . All else was good the brsssel sprout was excellent and different .
Great except food service took quite a while
It was cold inside and outside
Went after the bowl game and rain to boot. The outdoor dining was great! Heaters, couches very comfy and we were the only ones for about 30 minutes. We have go to dishes that never disappoint
It's an okay experience, been wanting to come here for a while to try it out and finally had the opportunity to do so. They honor OpenTable reservations by the way and we got seated immediately, we were quickly serviced after a brief moment they gave us to look over the menu. Food came out quickly but then again there wasn't that many people at the time, there are also 3 kitchens working simultaneously to prepare your order which is nice. Prices on somr menu items were fair but some of them seem a little bit way too overpriced especially since a good bit of the dishes/sushi we ordered was subpar and could had better elsewhere. Go for the experience if you want, but I wouldn't recommend it for a second try.
Pretty standard. Not crowded at all.
Last day of Dine LA. Nice choices for $25.00, I had tuna and crispy rice for 1st course, rock shrimp roll for 2nd course, you get choice of mochi dessert flavors. Beautiful patio overlooks fountain at Americana.
Katsuya Glendale ALWAYS honors our Open Table requests, which is one of the reasons we like it so much. This last visit, was no exception. However, w/ so many guests, having additional waiters might be helpful for them. It took longer than normal for our food to come out. And the appetizers came at the same time as the entree.
Worst possible eating facility we have gone to this 2019 year. We even had reservations. This place SUCKS!!!!!!
REALLY SUCKS!!!!
SUCKS ALOT!!!!
Just my opinion. But it really does suck, BIG TIME!
REALLY. PLUS WE PAID 100.00 ...AND WE STILL WENT ACROSS FOR A HAMBURGER
Birthday dinner request from our 22-year old son Kevin and his girlfriend Anne. Nice experience at the Americana in Glendale. Our server Chelsea was great. The Rock Shrimp and Teriyaki Chicken were really tasty. Kevin didn't offer to share any with us, but said his Lobster Dynamite was excellent. Will return again after we save up some more money. Thanks, Mike
Sushi choices were very nice and service was excellent.
Terrible service. Our waiter didn’t even check to see if we got all our food and when we were missing an entree (although we were done with our meal), we had to hunt him down and he wasn’t even apologetic. The cod used to be my favorite dish but now dry. Katsuya has really changed, for the worse. I won’t be returning.
Food was marginal, service was ok. I was expecting something more unique.
The place was practically empty inside and the poor bartender was stuck servicing the entire room alone. No ambience to speak of and the food (even during happy hour) was overpriced and forgettable. I don't see this place lasting much longer in such a prime location.
In a word, "Disappointing!"
According to our waitress, there are 3 kitchens in work. If that is the case, why did it take 45min to make a simple roll? The roll wasn't even complete. The last piece was only half full. What, your so skimpy that you can't even give a your customer a full roll (which they paid for)?
They brought out someone else's food to our table. 3 kitchens? Definite process break down in the delivery logistics. The staff look like they're just going through the motions from table to table running around looking busy, but not really paying any attention. You should never have to ask for your drink to be refilled. That's the job of the server to notice and refill it before you ask for it.
It was a cold day, but they left the doors open so the people seated inside were colder than those outside because at least the people outside had heaters. Not only that, that let the flies come in. Yes, flies.
This is one of those "fusion" places like P.F. Chang's does to Chinese food, they try to do with Japanese.
It's definitely less than authentic Japanese and prepared more for the Western palette. They tried to be too "cutsy" with the food. The miso soup was nothing but salt and water.
Spend your money elsewhere. There are definitely better places than this.
This is my go to spot. They have amazing food, the quality of the fish is great, and the portions are good!
Katsuya Glendale was AMAZING! Service was excellent and the food came out fast. Their heated patio is extremely cozy and the food items are delicious. They serve Japanese and American fusion foods which are amazing. Excellent restaurant!
Our server was outstanding. Unfortunately, the hostess at the upstairs seating was not very good. Even though we are frequent guests, she would not give us a requested four top. In addition, the next 3 couples were all were given separate four tops. If this happens again, we will not return to the restaurant.
This location is not what I except from Katsuya. Service was terrible and food wasn’t good at all. Will never return there.
Bad service...
Very very bad experience, server never tended table check on us and check on drinks
Our server was God awful! I even wrote on his receipt “terrible service” and gave him a 10% tip on a $100 check just so he’d know how unhappy we were. Completely ignored our table several times, forgot multiple sauces and side items, had the personality of a wet blanket....how did this guy get the job?! Definitely wasn’t day 1 for him so SOMEBODY must’ve thought he was adequate enough. I once was a server years ago....I can’t emphasize enough the lack of customer service in this day and age and common sense for that matter; specifically in last nights dinner where we had the honor of watching several people receive their food before us when they had arrived after! Just super lame. Quit your day job dude!!!
Most of the seating at this Katsuya is outside—which is fine most of the time, but when we went it was way colder than usual in L.A. And the heat lamps don’t reach every seat. As is the case for most of these type of Japanese restaurants, the food comes out in a pretty random order (the gyoza appetizer came out a good 40 minutes after some items) but everything was delicious. The pork ramen was better than the equivalent at the dedicated ramen restaurant at Americana. The short rib bop is a must (add the egg!). The watermelon cucumber mojito is excellent. Overall, more expensive than it needs to be, but the food is great and they’re accommodating to families with young children.
Overall dining experience was amazing. The food was absolutely delicious. I took my boyfriend for his birthday and it was a perfect place to try a whole bunch of the things on the menu and share them between us. The only downside was their service. My water was left unfilled the whole dinner unless I asked for a refill. The server was impossible to find at times, I had to ask a different server just to close out. Other then the bad service, this place is phenomenal. Maybe a different location will have better service?
It was very meh... the one in Brentwood is a much better spot.
We were there for the tree lighting and had a great view of the tree. It was busy and we told our server we were in no hurry so all of that considered, it was a great night. However if it had been for any other night, I would have been a bit frustrated. Waiting 30 mins for a glass of wine even on a very busy night is a bit much. Telling our server we weren’t in a rush, shouldn’t have equated to ignore us. She was great, super sweet, but was in the weeds so we had to be VERY patient.
The food was mediocre, especially considering that we shelled out over $300 for a dinner for 2 adults and 2 kids. For that price, it should have been greet. Again it was a very busy night so we let it go. But any menu that has J ROGET for their house champagne...at $10 A GLASS, (a bottle is less than $5 and is only usually served at cheap brunches) makes me question the restaurant’s understanding of fine cuisine.
We would only return for the tree lighting as our view was good.
Great view of the Americana courtyard from the high seats and delicious sashimi and rolls. Service was a bit slow, maybe because we were upstairs? Never good when your first dish arrives before your drinks but otherwise a great experience.
We went on a non-busy weekday. I liked the hostess. She was courteous and professional. The booth we sat in was dingy and gross. Very filthy and clearly worn out. A kids meal was $14 and the salmon in it was smaller than my 2 year old daughter’s palm and the edamame was not cooked well. My ramen bowl tasted like it had been sitting around and reheated in a microwave to the point the chashu was inedible. Service at first seemed ok, but food came out and the individual bringing it out was rude and when asking for an extra plate he was like “there’s one here in the next table” and practically tossed the plate at us.
I’ve been to katsuya before and never experienced it like this. Food was awful and overpriced. Service was practically non-existent.
Definitely will not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Such a beautiful ambiance. Service was absolutely amazing. Jasmine was super sweet when she touched our table. Our bartender made the best drinks.
Food was great but service was poor. Our server was not readily available.
Great location. On the other hand, the food and service were disappointing, to say the least. Not enough fish on the sushi or sashimi. Also, we waited too long to get spicy mayo, ponzu sauce and 2 straws. On top of all that, they forgot our last order of skirt steak robata. It never came out until we reminded the waitress. Even then, it took 20 mins. First and last time here.
No reason to comeback , boring food, no food as show on menu, super expensive, not worth money to pay for
The location is nice, however the service is not good at all. We had to wait for our food for 30 mins by the time the food was ready we lost our appetite. I would not suggest this place, also it was really pricy, you kinda pay for the venue.
Our old standby! We love it before going to a movie. Always high quality with impeccable attentive service focused on getting your food to you ASAP. We really appreciate that.
We have dined at Katsuya in the past and it was good, however this time when I ordered, the server told me mine would take a little longer to prepare than the sushi my daughters ordered. I said that was fine and ordered an appetizer in the meantime. My meal came right away and I finished my meal before the sushi came and our appetizer never arrived. I asked about the appetizer and he checked on it, and brought it out after we finished lunch! I understand things happen, but the server never even apologized. It took what seemed like hours to get our meal and it cost $81 for 2 sushi rolls, a noodle dish and a shrimp appetizer- no alcohol, only 1 iced tea. It’s nit worth it for me to dine at Katsuya again with all the other amazing choices out there!
I ordered sashimi. There was a bone in it. When I informed the manager, rather than apologizing she said, "Well, that happens" I have been eating sushi for 30 years NEVER had a boy before this!!
