Katsuya- SLS Las Vegas Ratings and Reviews
We had a nice quiet table and a very friendly and attentive waiter. The sushi portions are huge! I only had social hour and was surprised how big the servings were. Great value. The wagyu with fois gras was managable. My biggest surprise was the seagrass salad and espresso martini.
Initially, we did not expect much, but was very pleased with the quality & authenticity of the Japanese dishes. We had family from Japan that were very happy to have a taste of home after eating American for over a week. The sashimi was very fresh & the presentation was just like home. The Miso Black Cod done perfectly as each bit melts in your mouth. The unique rolls (Sunset, Katsuya, & Spider) amazing as well as their ceviche. I personally am a fan of Nobu, but the price/performance value of Katsuya was unprecedented. The server Julie was very helpful & pleasant as well as the hostess (sorry, I don't recall your name) & the manager Jesus S. who impressed me as well in spending time listening to my comments. Overall a perfect meal! If back on the area, we will return to Katsuya. Thank you for a memorable meal.
Unfortunately the food was not fresh and that's very important when you're eating sushi.
We order all of the high end items on the menu.
Premium Fatty Tuna - O Toro - fishy
Uni - fishy
Wagyu w Foie Gras - Wagyu was off
Lobster roll w dynamite sauce - off
Salmon with caviar - ok
Miso Cod - good
Honey bread pudding dessert - ok
The only saving grace was the waitress who was so sweet.
This place was not worth the $300 check.
It's so sad because we love the Katsuya in Brentwood.
Btw this happen to us last year when we came and we thought it was a fluke so we came back to give it a second chance.
This was our second time dining at Katsuya in the SLS on Sahara and the North Strip. We were pleased to find that the second time was just as good as the first! VERY FRESH SEAFOOD was used and other quality ingredients making the sushi and sashimi we all 4 enjoyed up there with some of the finest Japapnese restaurants that any of us have been to. All of us are huge Sushi fans and we all left very satisfied. Highly recommended!
The special dishes are excellent - like the salmon with jalapeño, thin sliced yellowtail, etc. but downgrading because the $24 Katsuya roll was terrible - dry bland worse than your average rainbow roll. At these prices everything should be outstanding. Goosmsake list but also a bit pricey. Service was fantastic. Overall a nice dining experience if you stay away from the rolls and don't mind paying a little more.
