Katsuya by Starck Baha Mar Ratings and Reviews
Excellent food but unfortunately the service needs to be improved. We sat at our table for almost 15 minutes without any attention or any water in our glasses. Server who eventually arrived was friendly and apologetic which made up for it somewhat, but when you are paying this kind of price I think the service needs to be much better. One of our dishes never arrived as it took too long, so we agreed with the waiter to cancel it. This place has great potential so hopefully they will get it right before they develop a bad reputation.
As always it delivers a nice dining experience!
I do have a serious issue with the valet service... I urge you to reach out to the GM to speak to the Valet Dept. They seriously need training in dealing with customers. They weren’t rude- just clueless as to how to respond to a minimal hiccup in their process... kept us out there 30 minutes til they were finally urged to take our keys and let us just leave the car...
Left message at front desk but still suggest you bring it up in any Dept meeting to address this. It’ll happen again otherwise.
Everything was pretty good. Service was very good. There was a group with an unusually loud person and he wasn’t approached by the staff.
The signature miso cod was good but not as great as another miso cod at another popular Japanese cuisine restaurant. It was a little tough to handle with chop sticks.
The food was comparable but to the best sushi restaurants we have at home - well cut fish and considered sauces. The plating was also nicely done. The menu has some of the usuals and some well crafted one-offs. All in all, a good experience.
Ask for a table outside if the weather permits - the seating is more comfortable and the scenery better. Careful how you order though. There is a lack of communication that we found caused 3 dishes to come out at once - likely due to the different kitchens preparing them.
Loved the food!! First was the crispy Brussel sprouts before our rolls came and they were magnificent! I wished i had taken a few photos but listen, that was the last thing on my mind when the food came out which was quick! Will definitely be dining at Katsuya again.
It was a very nice experience re Girls' Night Out. The table attendant, Shelia(?), provided superior service and the food was very good. Once or twice, one of our particular orders was forgotten but that was quickly rectified, and with concession. The ambience was great and the entire staff pleasant. I would definitely return and also recommend. Cheers!
The food was excellent and the service was great. I was stunned at how quickly the meals were prepared and brought out all while tasting fresh and neatly presented. There was a large group behind some curtains which was very loud, but that was beyond the restaurants control.
Ate at the bar; the bartenders were throwing the bottles into the trash as hard as they could and it took waving emphatically to get attention at a slow bar. They charged me for the drink a gentleman next to me had (I told them we were not together)
The food was mediocre at best; cod fish smelled a little dated. The experience was not worth the price..not even close. I would’ve paid double for better food and service.
Disappointed my daughter wasn't able to get accommodated a high chair after a specific request in our reservation. I would have been ok if someone would have said it upfront, but we waited 20 min before someone finally said they being used already..that is very poor communication and service
The food was tasty and a nice twist to Japanese cuisine. Portions were very small and prices very high for what you get. It was quiet noisy and difficult to hear people at your table. Couch seating needs more support as it sinks. Good for a visit for the experience and prestige, but there are plenty of places on the island serving authentic Japanese food for a portion of the price.
Had lunch and dinner. Absolutely beautiful rooms. The service was good compared to other restaurants in the hotel. There are still a lot of glitches with information. I have food allergies and some of the staff are good at understanding it but many do not and that left me uncomfortable. Hopefully they will improve their training in regards to this as it is certainly very common now.
This was our second visit to Katsura. We returned because the first time we had an outstanding experience. On this visit from when we were greeted by the hostess none of the staff seemed to be interested that we were there . Our server needed more training. She took my order for a drink but did not ask my husband if he wanted anything then went off and made my drink. She asked him if he wanted a cocktail when she returned with my drink. The food was good but when we went to order dessert they were out of all sorbets and the seasonal fruit which was very disappointing.
Food was ok overall. We love having Sake with our sushi. Problem was thier small hot sake's start at $85 and go to over $400 with no options for anything less. The food, while a bit on the expensive side was not bad...but the sake!
Service was excellent. When we asked the waiter if he had any better value options on sake we comped us one. Very nice.
This place is very expensive, has ridculously small portions and weird food that has no explanation on the menu. The meals came out at different times because it comes from different kitchens, appoximately 15 minutes apart. Service was below average. We left confused, broke and hungry.
We stayed at Baha Mar for one week for our anniversary and this was by far our favorite restaurant at the resort. We ended up eating dinner there 3 times during our stay due to the outstanding dishes and service. Beautiful restaurant too. A little pricey but so worth it! Just wished I could have tried everything on the menu.
After reading some negative reviews I was skeptical of the experience and I was totally impressed with this restaurant. The food was very good and prepared exactly as advertised and presentation was exceptional. I had the Goyza and they were fantastic. I also had two specialty rolls that were delicious. My wife had the crispy rice with tuna and for someone who does not like sushi, she actually enjoyed the entire meal. I eat a lot of sushi and have eaten at Nobu at Atlantis and this compares equally with that restaurant. Prices and food are equal at both restaurants. Different enough to make me frequent each often. Give this place a try and be wowed by the attentive service.
I came here for my birthday and was seated in the Chandelier Room, let me tell you! The ambiance, the magnificent service, the love in every bite, just brought it all together! I was totally blown away by the experience and will be visiting again! -Thank you Katsuya!
