The food is outstanding. The tuna crispy rice the best. The only issue is the portions (rolls) are quite small and you need a lot so it’s costly. That said we loved everything we ate.
So, so good to be back and comfortably sitting inside. What a difference a year makes!!
Food was wonderful! Had all our old favorites and they were better than ever. Each item was served at the perfect time and hot when needed and cold when correct.
We missed you so much and look forward to our weekly jaunts again!
Waiter was horrendous... first time I’ve had a terrible experience at katsuya and I’ve visited many locations including this one plenty of times and this is the first time I’ve had such a bad waiter/service! Waiter only came once to take our order and then never came back until it was “last call” to see if we wanted anything else.... never even came and checked up on us if food was okay, no drink refills, served us tap water didn’t even ask if we wanted an actual drink or soda. Terrible part was he seemed to be really attentive with other tables except my table being party of 3 (including myself) maybe because we were not white?¿? Truth is we probably ordered way more than any of this tables during that time we were dining having a total check of $235
Definitely was a terrible experience but amazing food like always, hostess and valet worker were way more professional than the server...won’t be visiting this location ever again since I’ve never had this problem at any other location. Always tip waiters at least 20% but this waiter made us feel so racially profiled that we left nothing but a note saying “terrible service”. When asked for the bill server took 20minutes to bring us the tab! All meanwhile we saw him help his other tables and even go in the kitchen run food, chat with other servers right after we asked for the check... most servers would bring the check right away and not take 20minutes to do such a simple task!
Daughter’s 21st birthday celebration. Food was excellent as always, however service was extremely slow this night.
Longer wait than expected after our time for booked reservation, came early as well just in case. Wasn’t encouraged to grab a drink from the bar while we waited. Luckily we saw some folks waiting with a drink in their hand. Initial food came in perfect time and our server was very nice. secondary food service took forever and we kept having to ask the status of it additionally we were waiting to order our second drink and no luck until 30 minutes later when we were already frustrated that our initial food we had already ate and waiting for the last two dishes. Overall food was eh for the price and experience for the evening ended on the notice that we should’ve just stayed in instead. Server did apologize for the delay of the last dish many times and didn’t charge for it. Sad part is that because there was a delay, we felt she avoided the table and we were trying to order another cocktail. In the end, won’t return.
The worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time. And I’m a longtime (ex) customer.
This place shouldn't be open at all.. I would have gladly given this place a ZERO!!! The reason may be is that they moved the heater from my side to the other side without asking us if it was okay, they catered to the white guys compared to us Asian ( that's my point of view). LA what's uplifted there indoor dinning yet this place has us seated outWhen we first arrived we asked to be seated to a heater because of my outfit and then all of a sudden this happens!!! Like literally how can you move something that was place in you spot for the reason be without asking us?!?! That's COMMON CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! So I told our waiter Yuidoys ( she admitted to moving the heater without the courtesy of asking us first) she then went and talk to the 2 older white gentleman about it being move by mistake by these older men refuse to put it back so the manager Leslie came to has and asked if we wanted to move to the other side because there was a roof heater and I said no because we are half way of our dinner and it's ridiculous that we have to move when we didn't do anything wrong. So for the next hour I sat down freezing myself and didn't even enjoy my meal this is the 2nd time that I've gotten a worst service at this location recently after being here multiple times!!! MANAGEMENT HAS DEFINITELY GOTTEN WROST!! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE THAT IS NOT WHITE BECAUSE IT SEEMS THAT THEY CATER TO THEM RATHER THAN OTHER RACES ( me being an asian men).
BTW THEY DIDNT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE I WAS CELEBRATING A BIRTHDAY!!
Not a cheap restaurant, which is fine, but service could’ve been a bit better. Also, add some music to the patio area.
As always the food was outstanding, the service friendly and timely and it felt extremely safe the way it was set up for covid protocols. Great to be out and feel safe eating a delicious meal!
We had a wonderful dining experience and it was so nice to sit outside social distancing. The waiters couldn’t have been nicer. I had a really great time and with heaters above it was comfortable in the night air.
Great sushi, excellent service. Complimentary champagne for our anniversary. Reasonably priced.
Enjoyed the dinner, with the exception of the Brazino which I sent back.
Please just save yourself the hassle of dealing with very uneducated people.
They really aren’t set up for outdoor dining and the ambience of being inside was always so cool.

GREAT FOOD GREAT LOCATION GREAT SERVICE. EVEN IN THESE TIMES ITS NOT EASY FOR A RESTAURANT TO LIVE UP TO EXPECTATIONS, BUT THEY DID.
Always a pleasant experience..I'm glad they purchased new glasses but the last visit..cleanliness was questionable.
Outdoor only dining option was great. The plexi glass separators made it feel very safe plus staff wear mask and shield. More outside seating then i realized. Food is good. I am a vegan and plenty of vegan options.

In fairness to Katsuya Brentwood, the Covid mandate required outdoor seating which was louder than normal. Otherwise, the food was excellent as usual. Portions were also as usual small for the price, but we knew going in from past visits. Overall, the fact that they can open during this time is worthy of note.
Katsuya was amazing in their COVID-19 protections and safety. It was our first dinner outing in Brentwood for our entire family to celebrate a birthday. Our waiter could not have been more thoughtful. We loved being outside on the patio. As always, The Baked Crab hand rolls and the spicy tuna crispy rice are not to be missed!!!
The food is always exceptional, and the Burning Mandarin is awesome.

We were asked to leave a little early due to Covid limitations and there being a line of people waiting, but we definitely understood!
The restaurant overbooked and we had to wait 45 minutes for a table late in the evening. Several patrons walked to and from their tables without masks and were not given warnings from staff.
Service was amazing! So was the food and drinks. Would definitely recommend this location.

Father’s Day Dinner
Specifically made reservations on here to be able to be seated on time. Apparently the host gave my reservation to another Stephanie, said I would have to wait 15 min and if I could wait at the bar at S Bar next door. Okay fine, things happen. After 20 min of no communication I walk over again, host seems surprised and confused. Ends up telling me to give them a few to clean a table. Not sure what the scheduling discrepancies were but ended up finally sitting at 7:45 pm. My reservation was at 7. Not impressed.
Food and drinks were delicious and on point per usual but the logistics is suffering. Don’t come if you need to be in and out at a certain time.

Never again!!! The hospitality here is heartless and underwhelming to say the very least. I made a reservation here to celebrate a birthday, and made this very clear when making the reservation digitally. I confirmed with the hostess upon arrival! The hostess confirmed verbally that she was aware that we were celebrating a birthday. Most descent restaurants will provide some celebratory recognition in the form of a simple dessert of some kind but, this place did nothing whatsoever. At the very least the hostess should have communicated in some way wether there was an option, if they weren't planning on responding at all. When I informed the manager, she was apathetic about the situation as if this was normal course of business. What a shame, I wish I had known that the service is so underwhelming and unprofessional.
