Katsura - Westin Prince Toronto Ratings and Reviews
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. He loved it! It was our first time here. I would have said everything was just perfect but I really hated the attitude the lady at the front had, it really ruined my mood for sometimes. Every time I asked her a question she seemed very annoyed and just wanted to send me away. However, she was very friendly with her regular customers. We loved our serve, our chef, the food, the atmosphere, everything except the front lady. She really needs to change the way she talks to her new customers and not just be nice to regular customers.
Haven't been to this restaurant in about 17 years but my family took me for my birthday. What a disappointment! It was relatively empty and I know why...way too expensive! I don't mind paying good money for good food but mediocre food is so not worth what we paid. We sat at the teppanyaki table and there was no enthusiasm or excitement from the cook. Very disappointing to my entire family. We have been to many of these types of restaurants and they were so much better and so was the food. Unfortunately we will not be returning to this restaurant.
Very bad service, will not come again and will not recommend any friends! The restaurant doesn't want new customers! This time we are going to try summerlicious that they offer, and would like to see there menu to compare which is good! When we asked to compare with they seems look not willing to serve and give us our feeling ( go back to summerlicious, it is much cheaper) anyway no service no welcome, so disappointed to this restaurant. But luckily, I got this survey to say something here.
This restaurant has been on my list of favorites from years ago. We were there for a valentine dinner and I must confess it was a disappointment. It seemed dated and tired. The staff were good ( not great), the food mediocre, and the ambiance seemed non existent. We did not do the tapanyaki table, which perhaps was my mistake, but it didn't seem too lively in any case. We won't be in a hurry to return. 🙁
The food was excellent and the service was great. We were there on a dead night but they had a lot of staff ready to serve you Was pleasantly surprised by the dessert menu as I figured it would be Japanese and something I would not want but it was a nice selection and very good.
Overall good place. Decor seems dated and needs to be done up. If the interior decor is done up properly this place would rock. It has the potential to be one of the trendy spots in toronto for japanese food. Food is good value but everything looks a little outdated.
Service was good and food was very good too. Would seriously recommend updated the decor and revamp the restaurant to make it more modern and up to date.
This is one of the first Japanese restaurants in Toronto ( early 80's ?).
It was excellent at that time. However, I think it is getting a little 'tired' at this point.
The food was good, not excellent , and very high priced.
The ambiance however is very pleasant for older folks because it is old fashioned QUIET!
We can actually have a conversation with each other during dinner.
We went to Katsura for our anniversary dinner and after seeing the reviews I was a little concerned that the quality was slipping since the last time we dined there. I do feel the menu is a little pricey but I did the sake pairing set menu and it was very good...the Wagyu steak was cooked to perfection and was delicious! My wife's lobster was cooked perfectly and the sake soy glaze was also delicious. The service was fantastic and the gentleman that served us was polite, friendly, and very attentive. It is expensive but worth it for special occasions.
Advertised as authentic Japanese but it was not. everyone from the server to the chef were all Chinese. Ordered the tenpanyaki dinner set, fish was dry, shrimps and lobster were over cooked, steak doneness was Not correct. There was nothing about the food that is remotely japanese. Food tasted the same as something you pay 6.99 for at any foodcourt.
Chairs and floor were dirty and sticky.
The sushi was fine. Not the best ever, but certainly acceptable.
The service was really poor. We had to struggle to get the waitress to refill our drinks or order additional sushi. Even when we could get her attention, she tended to wave us off as if she was too busy to get to us - the restaurant was only about 25% full!
Won't go back.
We had dined at this restaurant on several previous occasions however we were very disappointed in the quality of the food this time . We did not feel it was good value ! Based on this experience we would probably not go back because there are so many good Japanese restaurants in Toronto to pick from
