Katra Lounge is a surprising new take on fusion cooking, combining traditional Middle Eastern and Moroccan culture, influenced by French cuisine. The restaurant is located in New York, New York and has a very unique style to the decor, both modern and old fashioned.
In addition to wines, cocktails and bottles, Katra Lounge has a small but finely crafted selection of small plates, skewers, large plates and sides for dinner. Examples of the restaurant’s dishes include chicken phyllo rolls, crab cakes, lamb tagine, Northern Moroccan vegetables and, of course, hummus and naan. Overall, Katra Lounge is a place to be experienced by dedicated foodies.
We visited this establishment on 4/23/15. There was no one to greet us at the door to check us in for our reservation but the music was inviting so we went in anyways and took a seat. The drinks were ok but we were highly disturbed that we were charged extra to have our drinks on the ice. Yes we were charged $2.00 per glass that we asked for on the rocks !! Complained to management only to be advised that we were charged the extra fee because the bartender poured more liquor in our glasses than she should have ??? We didn't ask for extra drinks nor did we ask for the extra charges. Will not patronize them again. Furthermore, looking at the prices on the menu, we were advised that the menu prices and the website prices were incorrect so basically, they were charging us as they saw fit. Maybe because we were out of towners !
Very nice ambiance and music! I enjoyed my birthday celebration. Thank you.
After driving 2 hours from upstate new york, we arrived right on on time for our reservation. We were mislead by the website and whomever answered the phone that we could be seated for dinner, to enjoy a morroccan dining experience. When we arrived, the bar was the only place with seating due to a film event that had the downstairs dining area packed with standing room only. This was not conveyed on the website or over the phone when we confirmed our reservations. Although everyone who checked in with us at the bar entrance was nice--they didn't come clean with us to tell us their was a seating problem! Finally, a nice employee took pity on us and recommended another Moroccan restaurant.
Thursday night is slow after work but they have a great dj
