Katie's Pizza & Pasta Osteria - Rock Hill Ratings and Reviews
Went here for valentine's day date night and it was perfect! The dim lighting throughout was the perfect vibe for a romantic date night. The volume level was a little loud, but definitely was able to hear my boyfriend talk at a normal level! Food was hands down amazing! Both the pizza and the pasta was fantastic. Definitely recommend the black ink spaghetti and the pawn pizza! Will come back.
I came into town with my daughter to check out Maryville University. I found Katie's Pizza & Pasta Osteria on Open Table and we were sold after we saw the menu. Unfortunately we were not able to make our dinner reservations. We decided to come in for brunch before we heading back home. Our waitress was helpful in guiding us through the menu and making choices and there were many items that we wanted to try. We ordered off the regular menu rather that the brunch as this was what sold us on the restaurant in the first place. Every dish we ordered was delicious, fresh and full of flavor. Our favorite was the fried artichoke hearts. I am hoping that my daughter will choose Maryville so that we can come back again (we live on the east coast) and try the brunch menu as well.
My daughters' meatball pizza was delicious and a nice size for 2 to split. My husband got the pappedelle which was delicious. My other daughter and I got the tomato paccheri, which we both found a little too spicy, and I think it would be better with a creamier sauce to cut the spice. It was good, but after eating the dish for a while one could really feel the heat from the spices. Mexican dishes provide sour cream, Cajun and Indian dishes provide rice; we did not even get bread. The waitress could have been more attentive and brought more bread when we were out (2 small loaves for 6 people)--this might have helped cut the spicyness of the tomato paccheri
The food at Katie's is unique and delicious. The potato pizza was awesome, especially. The downside was that it was way too cramped and noisy, and we had an issue with fitting our pizzas, salads, bread plates, etc. on our table. Pizza stands might help. Overall we had a good experience, but would probably go to their other location next time.
Good friend and I dined to celebrate her birthday. She had never been before and wanted to try. We arrived during happy hour and enjoyed 2 small pizzas; the sausage was great. Little less fond of the pear. It was not as I remembered it. Waitress was OUTSTANDING!
It is not a large place but they seem to get the food out quickly. The menu is a little intimidating if your not familiar with the "pasta" terminology but the staff was very helpful finding something my teenage daughter would like. I tried squid ink pasta for the first time - made with scallops, clams and shrimp and it was FANTASTIC!
The lighting is a little dim so if your over 40- bring your readers and use your phone light!
It was a little noisy as well- I think it is just a matte of the acoustics- No matter the food is fantastic!
Katie's is always amazing. The service is always very attentive and the food is always spot on. The cocktails are so fresh and inventive and the wine list is great. I chose this for my birthday dinner with my girlfriends and it was just perfect. I will be back again soon.
The wait staff was overbearing. Constantly hovering to clear plates and glasses.
When I set up the reservations I noted it was for a birthday... which I actually forgot about until the waitress showed up with a dessert. I was caught off guard too when I saw the $5 charge for the dessert on the bill. I wish I had been consulted about my options first.
I have dines at Katie's quite a few times now including lunch and dinner, weekend and weekday. I have been impressed every time. I am a great home cook and sometimes hard to please when I go out for a meal. I don't want to go out and eat something that I could do as good or better at home. Katie's always delivers a high quality, nicely prepared, creative meal served by a very friendly and helpful staff.
Enjoyed a wonderful New Year's Eve date at Katie's! My boyfriend and I shared a pitcher of the blood orange mule and it was hands down the most refreshing, flavorful cocktail I've ever had.
We started with an order of meatballs and an order of the artichoke toasted ravioli, both of which were excellent. The toasted ravs had a tasty pesto sauce that accompanied it, a nice change from the typical red sauce you'll find elsewhere.
I ordered the arugula reginette. As a mushroom lover, I wanted to love this dish more than I did, however, it was a little much for me. The dish was very rich and flavorful (the truffles were a great touch), but to the point that after 5-6 bites, I was overwhelmed by the richness. I still would say it's an excellent dish and definitely worthy of being tried by anyone with an appreciation for mushrooms.
My boyfriend's choice was the winner of the night. He had the black spaghetti - squid ink dyed noodles with scallops, prawns, clams and salmon roe in a lemon butter sauce. The umami packed in this dish was unbelievable. This was the best pasta dish either of us has had before - I definitely was envious I had not ordered it for myself. The seafood was tender and was surprisingly not overpowered by the sauce of the dish - something that is hard to find in restaurants pairing seafood and pasta.
Moving on to the atmosphere, I was very disappointed. As I mentioned, it was our New Year's Eve date night and I made a 6:45 reservation. While there were plenty of open tables, we were seated on a 2 person high top that was against the pony wall shared with the kitchen. Not only was it extremely noisy and uncomfortably hot, but there was a huge column to my right that blocked views of the restaurant and had the server's station on the other side of it. It just made for a poor atmosphere, which was very disappointing when the night was meant to be a splurge from our usual date nights, as we don't go dropping $125 on meals for the two of us very often.
