nice atmosphere and the food is good. The portions are small and a little pricey.
The evening started out beautifully but quickly shifted with our waitress. She must have been told we were her last table because the moment we received our food, we were asked if we wanted any dessert. We had one glass of water refill. One of my guests asked for a box to take her food home and within five minutes, the waitress returned without a box and asked if she could take the food away.. Spilling the food into the table. We received our ticket quickly and once we had paid, we never were asked again if we needed anything. Our waitress left early and the manager of the shift walked past our table at least five times and never once stopped to see if we would like our dry glasses filled with water. Food was good, service was horrible.
Katie Mullen's has an outstanding happy hour that runs everyday from 4:00-7:00. They have a lively atmosphere in a traditional (but large) Irish pub setting with 2 bars and dining area. The happy hour includes great drink specials with 20oz. Irish Beers, Imports, and Craft Beers for $4.00-4.50 as well as $6 specialty martinis and house wines. In addition, they have an extensive happy hour appetizer menu with many gourmet quality small plates for $4-6. My wife and I stopped in prior to a DCPA show. We had Irish potato cakes, diablo meatballs, shrimp buschetta, and frenched chicken drummies. Although we thoroughly enjoyed everything we had, we loved the potato cakes and shrimp buschetta. Also, the chicken drummies were far beyond your average hot wings (a must try). In addition to a great happy hour in a fun atmosphere, we found the service to be competent and they were willing to pleasantly accommodate any request. Next time, we will allow enough time for a full meal as the dinner menu looked very appealing as well.
Food was excellent. Service probably would have been dine if our waitress had been there mentally at all. Restaurant is beautiful and the chef catered to my celiac friendly needs.
Picked Katie Mullen's as a shot in the dark. It was located in a convenient area, easy to find, easy to walk to or to take the Mall Bus. The evening turned out to be very enjoyable with a great selection of food and drinks. Able to hold a conversation which is often difficult to do in many restaurants. Loved the interior, its warmth and comfortable feeling. Making plans to dine again there soon.
I had the Scallops which was the lunch special on Tuesday. Not only are they perfectly cooked, but the presentation alone would make you want to order this dish. It is beautiful and the price is even better. I have been to restaurants that serve 2-3 scallops and average around $25. Katie Mullen's serves 5 large scallops for only $14 during their lunch special and they are fabulous. I also ordered a "side" Caesar for $3 and it was enormous. Both dishes were exceptional in flavor, freshness and presentation. You just can't beat it.
I go here every time I am in town; the food, drinks and atmosphere are all great! And it is very well priced for the quality of food you get. I have had 3 different dinners at Katie Mullens: the boxty, lamb skewers and the sirloin. All were very tasty! I also have had the house cab and the lemon drops; watch the lemon drops, they sneak up on you.
What a great place to have a grreat meal. THe menu was wonderful trip down memory lane, from my visit to Ireland years ago. The boxity lunch was on the money, not to mention the shepards pie. The weather was exceptional, which led us to sit outside and enjoy the hustle and bustle of downtown Denver. The only thing better was the service, so friendly and timely. Cnat wait to return for dinner sometime.
We had a group of 11, and the restaurant was very accomidating in changing our reservation time last minute. Our server Deanna, was spot on with all her recommendations, and was very consistent with all of our table needs. Never had an empty glass!
Immediately when you step into this restaurant, it has a good feel and is cozy, warm and inviting. The food was fantastic. I had my heart set on the fish and chips which I have had before, however, one of the lunch special items was Seared and Blackened Sea Scallops for only $12; I could not pass it up. The dish is elegant, beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. I have been to many restaurants where this dish would have been $25-$30, so I was really impressed by the price and the quality of food. It was fantastic and I hope they keep such a lovely dish on their menu - I would go back just for that. This is a great restaurant, all the staff members are very nice and attentive. It certainly earns a 5-star rating.
The Stroganoff is very good. It is a great place to wind down and enjoy a good meal whether with friends or family. Good atmosphere and the service is prompt, unobtrusive and excellent.
Excellent Irish food! Best Irish Stew in Denver. Fabulous beer selection with Guiness, Smithwicks, and many great American craft ales along with English ales. Fish and chips were great, too. This is a must stop for us whenever we are in the Denver area. Great location along 16th and very nice Irish environment. Servers are very nice in an Irish sort of way, which is the best on this earth. Love it and will return the next time we come to Denver.
The place was nearly empty at 1:30 on a Wednesday. Just right for a business conversation. The service was attentive but not over powering.
Happy hour menu good, irish beers were $4.50 for 20 oz, very good deal, whiskeys from the world, prices depended on quality of the items, we had a very fun time. place was hopping.
Pretty standard Irish Pub fare with and energetic atmosphere. French Onion soup is good and stroganoff was a bit salty for my taste.
Don't expect fine dinning, but the food is good and service was fast. Fish and chips was particularly good. The mussels happy hour dish--not so much. Good beer selection, little thin on wines. Close to Bellco theater and other downtown Denver locations.
Waited 20 minutes after being seated for a waiter to acknowledge us and offer water. Service remained slow throughout our experience. Crusted chicken was burnt. They offered dessert, we chose a sundae. It was 2 cups whipped cream and 1 small scoop of ice cream.
Choice of indoor or large outside patio is wonderful. Roasted beet and Salmon salad is always very good. The Irish Stew is amazing and not a thing you find everywhere. We had the pumpkin cheesecake that was a great treat. Consistently good.
It was very interesting that we made a reservation and they did not have a table ready for us. The manager?/asst. manager? who was working was very overwhelmed. It was also interesting to us that there was a 45 minute wait on a Friday night and the entire back part of the place sat empty!! Our waitress was first rate. The food was okay, it came out quicker than we expected which was a plus since we had to wait for out table.
As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a very friendly hostess with an Irish accent; nice touch. The entire wait staff was welcoming and pleasant. The staff members had only good things to say about the dishes we ordered which they had obviously tried. I had the fish and chips which was not in the least bit greasy and the fish was light, moist and delicious. I also enjoyed their take on the Caesar salad. It had a much lighter dressing; such a nice change (a Caesar vinaigrette, instead of the traditional heavy Caesar dressing). Great place with a pleasant atmosphere. We will definitely be back.
I doubt if we will ever come back. Food was just ok.
While in Denver this past week (First week in October) my group wanted to take advantage of the weather and eat outside, as we felt the opportunity at home in New England would not be there when we returned form our business trip to Denver.
Staff and wait staff were able to accomadate a large party and we were able to enjoy the food, weather and people watching while in Denver.
All of my group were very satisfies with their meals.
For our first visit we were pleasantly surprised. Making a reservation was easy. The Scottish hostess was incredibly friendly. The food was well-prepared and tasty. We would definitely return for a second visit.
I have been here on several occasions and the food is always good. Great Place!
Our waitress only stopped by the clear plates before we were finished. She never came back to see how our meal was, or if there was anything else we needed, or fill our glasses.....or bring the check. We were on our lunch hour and were late getting back - and charged PTO for that 15 minutes. I will not go back.
I took a group of out of town co-workers to lunch during what was a very long day. after a ten hour working session a couple of my guests said the best part of the day was lunch. At least we had one bright spot. Thanks Katie Mullens! BTW - Best waitress, Sara Housman, Tip her well.
Good food and great service. Something for everyone. Thanks
Excellent Irish fare! Great tasting dishes and delicious lamb. The beverage selection was great, and we thoroughly enjoyed LHB's Milk Stout on nitro. It was the perfect place for "date night", and though it was a Saturday night, it was not crowded or noisy (actually, it is likely to be more energized during the week). We are from a rural area, so we typically don't like crowds anyway...so this was perfect.
The patio is a wonderful place to people watch. A large whiskey and scotch list, great beer choices and a special happy hour menu!
Patio service was no good. My party sat for 20 minutes while the server walked around to all the other tables and didn't even give eye contact. When we tried to get her attention she would rush away or turn around. We moved inside and then had the greatest experience ever! I wish I remembered the name of our server inside, she was amazing and had only been working there a few days. The start wasn't good, but the ended on a high note.
We had lunch and a business meeting. We were there for four hours and could not have asked for a better table or service. Thanks!
The restaurant was very quiet when we were there, but it was 11:00 on a Sunday morning, so it would probably be livelier at a later time. However, it was great for conversation!
Dana was the best and the food and service could not beat anyplace else. We went for our anniversary and every staff member we met wish us a happy anniversary even when we left the hosted told us. It was a great evening and we will be back
We enjoyed lunch so much that we came back for dinner. Irish stew! Great!
Irish Fish and Chips done the way it should be. Great!
Not really much on the menu that said "Irish Restaurant and Pub." Not a bad place, but more like a chain sports bar.
Went there with a party of 17 and had a great time. Our waitress added to our good time.
If you want great food at a great price, visit Katie Mullen's Irish Restaurant and Pub. The Irish Stew was delicious with generous portions of lamb. Large variety of beers and well drinks to please everyone's taste. I would definitely return to try more dishes. Staff helpful and friendly.
I took a new client there for lunch on a Friday afternoon. It was quiet enough so that we could speak and hear each other. The service was fantastic and the food was even better! I have found my new lunchtime getaway. I also noticed the available libations, making this a destination, the pub, a place that I look forward to going to after a long day at work! I recommend Katie Mullens to all! I will let everyone in my office know about my wonderful experience including our service, fast and tasty lunch the ambiance, staff, and cleanliness.to those within walking distance this is the place to go for an all around escape for luck or after work treat, I imagine happy hour to be as good as lunch! Order a cold beer for me and tell them I sent you!
The food was alright but over seasoned. What you would expect from a bar. Not a place for a foodie but decent. Not many beers on draft which was odd for an Irish pub.
