Karma Restaurant & Bar Ratings and Reviews
The food here is very fresh and we loved our smiling friendly server!! He made excellent choices and suggestions and the food could not have been more perfect! Generous size portions. Enough for some lunch tomorrow! The most wonderful Indian spices!! Absolutely loved the food. We love coconut curry, so we had a mixed vegetable coconut curry, as well as a vegetable Brioni, as well as the pistachio reason stuffed bread, And a lentil yellow soup, and Indian Chai tea. It was all so good!!!
First time diners and the food was terrific. The service was good as well. As mentioned before, the table tops were very sticky. We even asked the server to wash our table because the silverware and glasses were stuck to it. They either need to get new tables or start using tablecloths. Now I see why they have a good take out business
The food here was ordinary Indian fair, it did have things from all different regions. The food was fine, not bad not wonderful. There were 6 of us and that seemed to be a problem. Drinks order was taken. First drink arrived and was given to the wrong person who tried it to discover it was not theirs. The server picked it up and sat it before the correct person and as an after thought took out the straw! The rest of the drinks came at different times, the last one in the middle of dinner after main course were already being consumed. I think if there are only two of you things would have gone much more smoothly.
Best Indian food in Philly! The waiter was awesome, we got really good recommendations. But the waitress, I guess she was in charge of the bar, stopped by the table every 3 minutes to offer us drinks even when we said we were not drinking that night. That was annoying and ruined the great experience. She even interrupted our conversation to ask if we wanted anything to drink, and that was the 6th time we had said "No, thanks"
Awesome food, waiters were awesome and funny but that chick from the bar was SUPER annoying.
We had an excellent meal chosen from a very wide-ranging menu with many appealing choices, including great vegetarian options. The night we were there the restaurant was having a problem in that one of their chefs was absent. Nevertheless, everyone on the staff was trying very hard, and was very apologetic for the slowness of the meal. It really didn't bother us because we had a nice bottle of wine and enjoyed a leisurely meal.
As a fan of the cuisine, this was by far the best Indian food I have had! There was something for everyone on the menu. I and a group of about 10 friends had a reservation for Saturday night to celebrate my birthday. Although there was some mix ups with some orders (mostly because of us butchering pronunciation), the quality and amount of food can't be beat. Creative shots and cocktails did not disappoint. The staff was attentive and friendly, making the experience a night to remember.
Karma is by far one of our favorite restaurants in the city. The waitstaff is very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The food is delicious and Its difficult to choose a favorite. The chicken tikki masala is one of my favorites and never disappoints. Nice beer selection as well.
Son and I had a superb meal on a weekday night. Server was helpful with helping me choose something different based on Indian dishes I normally enjoy. We tried the Aloo Papri Chaat for an appetizer because we wanted something different than our usual Samosa choice. It was a delicious cold appetizer. My son likes spicy and I prefer mild which the kitchen accommodated for both of our main courses. I got the Lamb Chettinad which was really good.
Karma has been my favorite Philly Indian restaurant for the last 5-6 years. But they changed location 2 months ago to Market Street and the new restaurant does not have any of the warmth or charm of the Chestnut Street restaurant. Plus the food was not the same. They were also 3 weeks away from getting a liquor license, something that was not made apparent on their website. So shortly after being seated I had to go a few blocks away to get a bottle of wine. Lastly there were little gnats or fruit flies flying all over the food which really ruined the experience. I hope they get the place fixed up again.
