Delicious. Good service. But very expensive.Very expensive
Do not go here if you are with an important guest. On two separate occasions, we were here for a dinner with important guests. Both times, we sensed that servers came around to try to clear plates (with food on it) multiple times to try to have us leave asap. Then a gentleman comes around asking if we need anything else multiple times when there is still food being worked on the table. He also sent our servers to ask the same again and again. It got really upsetting. At one point the gentleman directly told me that they have a “very large party coming in, so (I) should clear out. I was sitting at a table for two and had just opened my second bottle of wine with food still on the table. I told him so, and then they just started pouring and pouring wine into my/my guest’s glass at super fast speed. We did not see the “large party” come in while we felt compelled to force down our wines like water. People come here to mainly enjoy the ambiance, but it is too bad that for both my experiences, I felt like I was kicked out and did not feel welcomed.
Beautiful food and atmosphere. Very expensive. Lunch special a good deal except for sashimi which is tiny.
Very good food.
But really very expensive restaurant
I eat alone and I pay 423 dlls. It’s tu mucho.
No alcohol very expensive
Chef’s 8 course tasting was spectacular
The A5 rare beef with truffle was great, but the seasoned vegetable and juju were really weird. Recommend avocado Rolls tuna sushi and grilled crab.
The food at Kappo Masa is always outstanding. The staff are totally professional and make you feel welcome. The flowers at the entrance were breathtaking large cherry blossoms which are beautiful. As a dining experience in every way it is first class. Great food, great service, a very good atmosphere and quiet so that you can easily have a conversation. What more could you ask for? Nothing!! Thank you to all the staff at Kappo Masa who work hard to make this dining experience perfect. Jackie Blum
Always excellent and a special treat. always love going there
In short, the FOOD was absolutely amazing. We didn't love the ambiance. Though not bad, just felt a bit sterile. Love the open kitchen. Service was good from the moment we walked in. Hurts the wallet a bit! But again....FOOD was great!!!
The omakase was incredible and the service was fantastic, so was the ambiance.
Intensely flavorful grilled fish collar was the highlight of the meal.
Excellent food and service. Not a “value” per se but for the quality of food that is not surprising. Can be loud. Cafeteria type seating a negative
Kappo Masa is a favorite restaurant of mine - refined yet comfortable, with excellent service and ofcourse first class food.
Awesome service and food!
Serene ambience, superb staff and a delicious lunch. Loved the kale salad.
4 stars only because I can’t understand how possibly one small scoop of ice-cream (truffle ice-cream) can coast $48
Best Sushi in NYC. Unique cooked offerings makes KM great for all
Sublime food. A treasured experience.
One of my favorites and go to’s
Birthday dinner was amazing
Fusion Japanese food in a sophisticated environment
Very intimate and delicious Japanese restaurant.
Slightly expensive but worth it once in a while.
There was only one dish that was disappointing, the rest was good.
Brilliant food, quiet, expensive
Great service, amazing food, overall great
Sushi was disappointing in every respect- not much flavor, slightly crusty rice and sushi chef nowhere in sight.
Nice ambience. Waiter very professional and helpful with ordering. We shared everything so able to taste lots of different dishes. Some were more favored than others, but all were good. Lovely experience with time to carry on a conversation without have to compete with additional noise. Service attentive but not intrusive.
Subtlety reigns with fine Japanese food and it is well understood here. The dashi used in the miso soup is superb. It is all delicious. Sophisticated crowd, professional service and gracious maitre d' /service make for a lovely lunch.
Great food, amazing smoking gun cocktail, great ambience.
The quality of the fish and the sake was quite high, but the service was uneven. I requested no wasabi on my sushi. Despite that, multiple pieces were served with wasabi. For such a high end experience such mistakes are problematic.
Excellent food andservice
Amazing food ambience and service Our waitress Stephanie is a lovely young lady who makes us feel special. She is an asset to kappo
The very best
Got the tasting menu, had much better at places like morimoto or nobu. Nothing was terrible but then again nothing was spectacular. For $300 per person I would have hoped for something that really wowed....
Jalapeño infused vodka cocktail was nice. One of the ways to keep the crazy priced drink list in check....
Would not repeat based on overall value.
Delicious food, beautiful atmosphere, well trained, kind staff
Food, service and ambiance all outstanding. The beef skewers (one of many appetizers) was a stand-out. All of the sushi entrees that we tried also excellent. The prices are also sky high, so best suited for a special occasion
Noise level very high. You won’t be able to speak to your guest but you will have a great meal!
Too expensive evening despite some delicious pieces of sushi. Subtle differences of flavor and texture lost over time as similar combinations repeated.
Atmosphere was clubby and casual, but not welcoming for newbies who will not return.
Outstanding place. Food was totally amazing. Really very good food, and service impeccable. We had long time without going and bartender recognized us..I recommend the omakase, but this time we like to try other things, toro and uní are very good. Also try tacos pecking duck. And toro tartare with caviar. Sushi salmon and saba, excellent cuality.
We will came back soon.
Always great but the sakes are way too expensive
Fantastic restaurant! Great food, service and ambiance. Already planned my next visit!
Kappo Masa has become a home away from home for us; it's a treat, to be sure, but the food, service and environment are always perfect. This time we asked to move from table to bar which felt like more fun, and i'm so glad we did - they agreed right away, and we ended up in such a nice chat around the bar with the sushi chef as well as the patrons nearby. We love it there.
