Sushi was disappointing in every respect- not much flavor, slightly crusty rice and sushi chef nowhere in sight.
Nice ambience. Waiter very professional and helpful with ordering. We shared everything so able to taste lots of different dishes. Some were more favored than others, but all were good. Lovely experience with time to carry on a conversation without have to compete with additional noise. Service attentive but not intrusive.
Subtlety reigns with fine Japanese food and it is well understood here. The dashi used in the miso soup is superb. It is all delicious. Sophisticated crowd, professional service and gracious maitre d' /service make for a lovely lunch.
Great food, amazing smoking gun cocktail, great ambience.
The quality of the fish and the sake was quite high, but the service was uneven. I requested no wasabi on my sushi. Despite that, multiple pieces were served with wasabi. For such a high end experience such mistakes are problematic.
Excellent food andservice
Amazing food ambience and service Our waitress Stephanie is a lovely young lady who makes us feel special. She is an asset to kappo
The very best
Got the tasting menu, had much better at places like morimoto or nobu. Nothing was terrible but then again nothing was spectacular. For $300 per person I would have hoped for something that really wowed....
Jalapeño infused vodka cocktail was nice. One of the ways to keep the crazy priced drink list in check....
Would not repeat based on overall value.
Delicious food, beautiful atmosphere, well trained, kind staff
Food, service and ambiance all outstanding. The beef skewers (one of many appetizers) was a stand-out. All of the sushi entrees that we tried also excellent. The prices are also sky high, so best suited for a special occasion
Noise level very high. You won’t be able to speak to your guest but you will have a great meal!
Too expensive evening despite some delicious pieces of sushi. Subtle differences of flavor and texture lost over time as similar combinations repeated.
Atmosphere was clubby and casual, but not welcoming for newbies who will not return.
Outstanding place. Food was totally amazing. Really very good food, and service impeccable. We had long time without going and bartender recognized us..I recommend the omakase, but this time we like to try other things, toro and uní are very good. Also try tacos pecking duck. And toro tartare with caviar. Sushi salmon and saba, excellent cuality.
We will came back soon.
Always great but the sakes are way too expensive
Fantastic restaurant! Great food, service and ambiance. Already planned my next visit!
Kappo Masa has become a home away from home for us; it's a treat, to be sure, but the food, service and environment are always perfect. This time we asked to move from table to bar which felt like more fun, and i'm so glad we did - they agreed right away, and we ended up in such a nice chat around the bar with the sushi chef as well as the patrons nearby. We love it there.
Would recommend for dinner. The meal was absolutely delicious. Wine is expensive.
Excellent food, quality & presentation. a real treat
The food and service were fine. But, the waiter recommended a very expensive sake to my grand daughter who did not realize the cost and i was quite surprised that he did not make that clear. it upset me and took the edge off the pleasure of the lunch when the bill arrived.
Always a pleasure . Excellent food , great space. Wonderful
Speechless...exceptional food and service. We went for lunch, but I will definitely be back for dinner.
My favorite spot for sushi. KM has great service, atmosphere and food.
Eating at the sushi bar is truly a treat!
The food is amazing. The service is efficient, but somewhat impersonal. The wines and spirits are excessively high priced.
One of my favorite japonaise restaurant in NY
This restaurant is so expensive that it actually makes the dining experience difficult to enjoy. In addition, the waiter made us feel rushed and the entree portions are quite small. Contrary to information our waiter offered, the noodle dishes are NOT big enough for two people to share. The sake recommendation was not good and the sushi was overall about average. The $32 California roll was actually below average and was the worst thing we ordered. I can say the best part of the meal by far was the creme brulee. This is a super expensive restaurant with average food and waiters who seemed more interested in keeping things moving than in the dining experience we were having. When the bill came at the end of the meal it left us wondering why on earth we had decided to eat at this place.
The sushi rolls and miso butter cod could not have been better!
Superb bento box lunch - especially the salmon with mushroom rice
The Chef’s Menu was outstanding. 8 courses sounded like a lot, but portion sizes were appropriate and the flavors were exceptional. Their sake wine menu was also unusually good - plenty of hard to find, truly special, artisanal sakes.
Perfect food and ambiance to catch up with a friend. Drinks weren’t as memorable.
Amazing food...favs were spinach, beef skewers butter cod, and spinach pasta with cauliflower sauce...INCREDIBLE! The Art Basil cocktail is divine!
EXTREMELY slow service. The food was mediocre and serving white wine (by the glass) at USD 35 per glass without announcing the price is ludicrous. I have been going to Masa for many years. I won’t come again.
Not great service...wrong orders and lack of attention...for high price. Cool spot though.
Outstanding! Best Japanese restaurant in New York City!
Great place to eat sushi. Expensive but cozy and delicious
Superb experience! We were five people had a nice surprise to receive the private room. Every dish was better than the previous one. Especially the white truffles mushrooms and the seaweed salads. Many vegetarian options.
The steamed salmon bento box and the kale salad are superb.
Charging $10 for still water in NYC is not acceptable.
Beautiful experience! Chic and delicious, and energetic and a place I will come as often as I can!
