Wait staff attentive and quick. Menu had a good variety and the food was outstanding. A nice pause between courses, no rushing here, just a relaxing way to enjoy a winter evening. Snowing outside, fireplaces blazing inside, decor screaming “you’re in the Adirondacks.” It was perfection for us. Thank you.

Outstanding food and service, very expensive and I don’t like paying for reservation slot. But, I am craving my chicken, frisée salad and Brussels sprouts so I would end in saying Kanu is worth the money, especially if you’re dreaming of your dinner the next day!!!!!

I was a little skeptical based on previous reviews about dining here. We had eaten a few times at Peak 47 and the food was very good so knowing it was the same kitchen decided to keep the reservation. The dinner was excellent, service attentive and pleasant and the room is stunning, especially on a cold winter night with the fires going.

This is our fifth year at whiteface lodge and at Kanu. This restaurant is beautiful; however, the service and food are sub par. They tout as high end but they use one kitchen for this restaurant and the bar and grill. Two years in a row, our food took forever. Tonight we had a 645 reservation and our food didn’t arrive until 815. After asking us if we wanted the kids meals sooner with our appetizer, that never happened. We watched table after table get served before us, including our friends who had a 7pm reservation. The waitress didn’t keep us informed and it seemed like they just forgot our order. It’s odd because the restaurant wasn’t even full. They did do the right thing and give a discount on the drinks and kids meals. But sadly after waiting so long, the food was just mediocre and lukewarm. Two years in a row with super slow service, we won’t be back. I guess if you come do breakfast- don’t bother with dinner. With the cost of the hotel and restaurant, we expect better.

BEAUTIFUL space and always has been. The dining room is beautiful. Come for breakfast! Outside of that, this is an average restaurant touted as a high end one in a beautiful setting They are flat out understaffed, so they only take a certain # of reservations each night, leaving 50%+ of tables empty (on a weekend night!. Weird - and many people complained of not being able to get a reservation. Luckily, they did not miss anything Bought a bottle of wine, it was placed out of reach and I needed to fill my glass several times myself (it was never poured for me outside of the first pour). This should be standard practice, especially if placed in a bucket out of reach. Outside of that, our server was very nice and accommodating. Food was average. Chicken was sold as excellent and it was average at best and a bit dry, Broccolini was tough and overcooked. Wife's steak was asked to be medium, came our rare. Was redone, came out rare/medium rare again, so they apologized and took it off the bill. Both entrees came with ice cold sauces on the side which were weird, did not suit the dish, or the plate and made the dish less desirable. Why serve an ice cold sauce next to a hot entree? Menu could use an overhaul as they serve some of the same dishes in the restaurant next door (Peak). You tout it as fine dining, but then have some of the same exact dishes? All in all, the food and beverage team need training, are inexperienced and need to tighten up their cooking skills if they are going to charge $40 for chicken and the prices that they do. If not, create a more high end casual menu, seat more tables so people can enjoy the best room in the hotel, and charge more appropriate prices. How the hotel manager and food and beverage manager don't see this as a huge win (when Peak is typically overcrowded and turns people away) is beyond me. I wanted to love it, but just didn't. Will not be back, outside of breakfast to enjoy the decor.

We waited extremely long for food, the waitress did not keep us updated on the progress, she could’ve have been more attentive. The food did not meet expectations . Food was not bad but it was not great. The place itself is very beautiful, nice atmosphere.

Delightful and delicious! Service was exceptional, and we weren't rushed. Enjoyed walking the property on a snowy night after dinner.

Went to the bar before dinner. Lucked out and was able to get two seats soon after arriving when two people got up. The bar was otherwise full, but not super crowded. Proceed to wait 30 minutes having never been served or even acknowledged to be honest…. gave up and walked out thirsty. Restaurant was beautiful and Service was prompt. We were served our cocktails right away. An eclectic menu, but everything was tasty. Self parking was also a bit difficult but they do have valet if you’re OK with that .
