They were great about accommodating a large party that included 2 kids. The service was great, the udon and sushi pleased the kids. I impressed my friends since I was the one visiting from out of town.

Our team went to Kaname Izakaya when our boss was in town from corporate headquarters. I was looking for a place where 6 people would be able to sit comfortably and be able to get back to the office without too much delay (which meant I didn't want us to have to wait for multiple 2-tops to clear and be pushed together in the lunch rush). I looked on open table and the menu here looked wonderful. When I took the team, everyone was really excited about the menu options (but wished ramen were available). As we ate and again as we walked back to the office, the whole team kept telling me "what a great pic" and "thanks for finding that place" and talking about the dishes they want to try next time. It was a total hit and perfect for our group to get out of the office and connect with each other over fabulous food.

Had dinner here Monday. Started with sushi & my 22 year old son got immediate ill on a bad piece of fish. I had fried oysters which were also not fresh. The portions for other plates were small in comparison to the price. there are many better Japanese restaurants in the Seattle area - this one is never again for me

This little hole in the wall restaurant in Japantown was a pleasant surprise. Having lived in Seattle for so long, I've passed by it many times, but I never thought I'd find such a solid Japanese restaurant. It's larger inside than the outside facade lets on, and has plenty of space for small to medium sized parties. There's even a bar area that was pretty active on a Saturday night. Overall ambiance was what you'd expect from an area in Chinatown, nothing fancy. Just a relaxed, well kept area that's obviously seen many patrons over the years. Don't bring your high brow in here. Food was pretty solid. We had a pretty decent spread of the menu; Tried the grilled saba, chirashi, tempura, karaage, agedashi tofu, obento, takoyaki... overall, everyone was pretty satisfied with their dishes. I enjoyed the tempura and takoyaki in particular (but be careful with the takoyaki because they come out hot!). Grilled saba was OK, I'd pass on that. Obento had A LOT of food. Great for big eaters. We also enjoyed their warm house sake. Overall, I would say that we had a great night out and enjoyed the meal. Recommend if you're in the area and looking for some decent Japanese food!

We were here for over an hour and a half for dinner, with reservations. We had to continually ask about the status of our food and even request the proper spoons for our soups etc. The food was good, but not worth the time commitment right before a show we had to get to/were late to. There was a table of 4 sat after us that got everything before us, which was also frustrating.

We got a nice quiet table in the back for our party of 9 but everything else was quite mediocre. We were celebrating a family dinner and wanted quality, casual Japanese. Nice young waiter but didn't seem to understand that we wanted to order appetizers and beer from the happy hour menu. Very inconsistent quality between dishes. Gobo fries are unique and delicious. I think we were forgotten in the back and had to flag down the waiter and waitress, even though it did not look crowded. The chef or manager served some of our dishes and was very friendly and much more customer oriented. We may try again because we want to have a go-to Japanese restaurant in the ID and love that it is next to Higo.
