I love Kamehachi. The food is always terrific, and so is the ambiance and service!
Tasty food. Great selection of sake. Very recommendable.
The asparagus beef rolls are to die for and the staff was very helpful!!
excellent soundtrack. best i’ve heard at a restaurant in years. will be back. food was great too.
The sushi was fresh and tasty. Also ordered shrimp tempura that also came with veggie tempura. Cocktails were nicely made with unique ingredients that made them more special. Would go again when in the area and craving sushi.
The sushi was fresh and had lots of flavor. The
Perfect for everyday dinner. Would recommend this restaurant
My two daughters and I spend every other Saturday having a long lunch at Kamehachi. This is our favorite spot. The food is excellent, the staff are attentive and kind, and the atmosphere is inviting. I highly recommend this awesome spot for fresh sushi and shashimi. Another favorite of mind is the Chilean sea bass.
My grandson has his special brithday dinner with grandma at Kamehachi. We have done this for the past eight years.
Great food. Service good too. Highly recommended
Best sushi in the city. Sitting at the sushi bar in the back is always a treat - amazing chef back there.
We celebrated a birthday with six people and we had a fabulous time! The menu was really extensive with something for everyone. We savored every bite of food. I travel extensively to Asia and the food was every bit as good as what I have had overseas. My first visit even though I've lived in the neighborhood for five years. It it my new favorite!!
Food, atmosphere and service were all great. thanks.
Kamehachi provides an extensive menu to choose from as well as interesting drink and wine list. On the Sunday we dined we were serenaded by an accomplished harpist. I ordered the salmon teriyaki and it was an entree I would order again. In our party of 5, no one complained about anything. It is a restaurant everyone should experience.
Went here for Valentines day! The service was a little slow due to the amount of people in the restaurant, but besides that the food was amazing and the drinks!
I love this place! It's my "go to" sushi restaurant.
Food was excellent! All of the sushi was freshly made and well prepared. Good service and not terribly priced!
Always reliable and always very good Kamehachi is a great option when you are looking for Sushi and Japanese food. I recommend it.
Delicious sushi, great service. Ordered a few of the speciality rolls recommended by our server and they were fantastic. Prices were reasonable as far as sushi goes. Will definately go back!
Loved all the food! Great service by Lauren!
great food- something for everyone... kids loved it- even on a Friday night- fast service for the theater.. great decor
Everything was sooooo good. Loved it😊
Perfect for any occasion.
Great food, great service. We were going to a show at Second City, great spot!
This place never disappoints! More exensive than some, but the quality of servers and staff is superb, the atmosphere lovely and the food creatively assembled and always fresh.
We were very happy with our time at Kamehachi. We felt that we slightly overpaid for the sashimi menu. However the value of everything else was outstanding. The cocktails were wonderful, the sushi rolls were as good as it gets and the shrimp tempura with the sweet and spicy glaze on a frisee bed was one the best things I may have ever eaten in my life. The service was exceptional. I highly recommend it.
Consistently a ‘go-to’ place that delivers the best experience!
The sushi was exceptionally fresh and the seaweed salad and miso soup were excellent. The soba noodles that my daughter ordered were mushy and somewhat tasteless. Our waitress was very good but she had a lot of tables.
Incredible dinner both from the standpoint if,service and, quality and presentation of food.
Excellent meal on Christmas Eve. Wonderful server.
I moved to ATL and last time I had a meal with Kamehachi was in their old location. It’s just as I remember, incredible sushi and great service!!
Sushi was very well-made, and the service from the waiter was fabulous.
We were in Chicago for the Christmas holiday. We had dinner at Kamehachi of Tokyo before going to a comedy show at Zanies. the food was great and so was the service.
I think of Kamehachi in Old Town as good (not great), reliable and somewhat over-priced. It's a good pre-theater choice. Service is good and prompt. The food comes out pretty quickly and you'll be out the door well in time for the show. On my most recent visit, the two specials we tried were disappointing. There were just a few pieces of grilled calamari--a poor value for $12. I didn't taste much lobster in the lobster eggroll. I got a piece of smoked salmon sushi (sake) that was disappointing as well--a much smaller piece of salmon than provided in most other sushi restaurants. The vegetable and rock shrimp tempura were fine. The real star of the meal was the Mushroom Tobanyaki, which would be very much at home in an Italian restaurant--mushrooms sauteed in garlic buttter with asiago polenta. The only Japanese note was the sake wine in the sauce. But, whatever, it's delicious and a generous portion is provided.
I have been here many times in the past, but for some reason this visit wasn’t very good. Service was good, but food was overpriced.
my favorite sushi in chicago for 20 years.best in town!!!!!!!
We came for an early dinner before a show and ordered sushi and sashimi based on the waiters recommendation. The food all tasted terrible, as if it’d been sitting in a refrigerator for a week. We never send food back, but this was the least fresh sushi we’ve had in Chicago. When we asked for a menu to pick something non-sushi our waiter seemed upset with us and never asked what the issue was. Our appetizer, sake, and replacement food were good, but it wasn’t the most fun experience.
Best Japanese food we've had since a spring trip to Japan. Loved the choices of Japanese whiskey and the Manhattan made with Nikki Coffey was amazing. Rolls were delightful. Sashimi and tempura were top notch. Everyone enjoyed! I'd give it 5 stars, but decor and service and value were very very good, but not excellent. I'm a hard to please 5 star giver. We will be back!
Good sushi and other Japanese fish dishes in a lively Old Town location. Very convenient to Second City for those going to a show.
Kamehachi never disappoints! Their rolls are superb. Everything worked well; the service was relatively quick and polite. Great Japanese!
Took my parents here for sushi before seeing a show at second city. It was their first visit to Chicago and Kamehachi did not disappoint! The drinks were very good as well.
