We were sat down outside for lunch, were served water by the buss boy and then waited for about 20 min. We never got acknowledged by the waitress/ bartender. She was mixing two cocktails behind the bar for about 10 minutes, then disappeared with them in the back room. We were the only table in the front and I’m guessing there was another one in the back. We never got a chance to eat since we left.
I ordered chirashi and my friends ordered sukiyaki and a sushi roll. My chirashi came with a bowl of miso soup, which is probably the best miso I've had in the US since I can taste the bonito in it. The sashimi in my chirashi is decent, not amazing but pretty standard. Portion size is great, especially given the restaurant's location. Sukiyaki had cabbage, glass noodles, beef and tofu in it, and came with a huge bowl of rice. I think the broth is a bit too sweet and salty, but in general very yummy. Service is a bit slow but the quality is good. Will try to come back!
This is a great neighborhood restaurant with reliable service and high food quality. I'm doing Keto diet now, so that makes it another great place to go eat!
Always superior sushi at Kamehachi. Friendly staff too.
I miss the DYNAMITE appetizer! Please bring it back! It is the main reason I enjoy Kamehachi!
I’ve been coming to Kamahachi for years now - always a consistently amazing experience. Yordi was fantastic and made our experience excellent this evening. Will definitely be coming back!
Everything was excellent—Rich our server was superior
The food at Kamahachi was amazing! They never disappoint.
My fiancé’s birthday
Unbelievable service and incredible food! so many options to choose from and all were amazing!!
Terrific everything
First indoor dining experience during Covid; Craving Sushi. Restaurant was clean and all social distancing protocols being practiced. Had a drink at the bar before going to our table. Food was outstanding. Rainbow Roll, Dragon Roll, Shrimp Potstickers, Yakasobi, Edamame. Recommend! Only reason for not giving 5 stars - service forgot 3 times to bring requested wasabi. Meal half eaten before we got it.
The food was amazing. 10/10 would recommend. We loved it!!
Food was absolutely delicious and pretty. Beautifully decorated, great service even on a busy night like Valentine's. A great choice.
Great time and great food! Server was very helpful with making recommendations.
The sushi was some of the best sushi that I have ever had in my life. The ingredients were fresh and perfectly prepared even on one of their busier nights. The service was also beyond formidable and the servers were extremely attentive and diligent. Would recommend this place to anyone and everyone.
Service was great, atmosphere was perfect. Food was timely and delicious. Thanks for a great start to Valentine weekend
Went for valentines day. Little pricey for what we got, but everything was delicious!
So good and loved the music and food!
One of our favorite spots. We are so happy that we can come back to eat in person. Tables are spread out with plenty of distance. Felt safe and will be back.
Got the omakase. We’ve had much better omakase for much lower price (e.g. Tanoshii). The beef felt like it was cooked days ago. The sushi (sashimi, nigiri, maki) were good, maybe stick to those. Overall will try again but not the omakase next time as it’s not worth the amount we paid at all.
Great sushi; impeccable service; very safe distancing by staff who always wear masks. My favorite!
Rude servers and ordinary food. Too dark even for a restaurant. Especially at our table.
Very cold, could not enjoy my food.
Rolls are very good here, also had a Tuna Poke that was excellent.
Excellent Japanese food, lovely ambience. Prices are reasonable, and the service is always pleasant.
Ate outside on the sidewalk. Delicious chef choices for nigiri and sushi. The tuna appetizer and tempura were great as well.
Great food.
Service was slow . We didnt see a busser ever so dirty plates sat til our sushi came. We used to go to the one on Ontario for years and this one in its original location. We haven't been here for over a year and unfortunately there was nothing about our night that would make me not want to give another place a try instead. O made the reservation a week out for my son's birthday there was no mention of that. Th ere nvyhey put us in the very back of the resturant . Just very disappointing all around.
Would probably not go back u couldn’t eat the food
Food was delicious
One of the best Japanese restaurants in Chicago. A gem of Old Town.
It was a good time, I cannot remember the waitress name, maybe Marissa, but she was great. The food was good, we had fun!
Fantastic! Always is. Family owned business that knows how to take care of their customers.
The food was amazing! Must get the spicy edamame and miso soup. The sushi is super fresh and tasty!
The food was great and the ambiance was just right for a catch up with my friend!
Our server Mishi was amazing!!!! We sat outside and when it started to rain, they covered us with an umbrella. The food as always was phenomenal and the service was top notch.
Everything was great. From the outstanding service to the delicious food. I would definitely recommend this Japanese restaurant to everyone. I am now considering having my birthday celebration here.
Great experience!
The waitress was so friendly and took amazing care of us! Social distancing was in effect and they made sure to take all precautions when serving us.
