Good food and great service. Highly recommend this place to someone not looking for a Japanese fusion place.
We had a party of 4 and really had a good time. Server was courteous. Food taste was excellent.
Best Japanese food in Chicago. Consistently good, excellent service.
Great food and I’m glad o can get the quality of fish for lunch!
Excellent service and amazing sushi! Would highly recommend Kamehachi to anyone visiting Chicago!
The sushi was above average quality in taste and freshness. The menu is long and varied. The service was spot on.
The sushi and food here is always amazing. Very fresh sushi, very friendly staff.
Wonderful food. The cocktails are excellent! We did not try to sushi, but will for sure try it next time!
Good food, quick service :)
My partner and I visited for my birthday. We got fried tofu to start, the udon bowls for our main and we split the Dragon sushi roll. Absolutely amazing and well worth the price, which was far cheaper than you’d expect for Chicago.
Always good food and service. Never disappointed.
Good/average quality sushi. The chocolate lava cake was my favorite. Service was very slow on a busy Saturday night - not uncommon in Chicago post-(during-)COVID.
Great Japanese restaurant on the north side. Good food, consistently, and excellent waitstaff. Not expensive.
Service was prompt and friendly. Food was great! Highly recommend the asparagus, spicy dragon rolls and the shrimp dumplings. We will be back!
This was the best sushi I have ever eaten. Next time we are back to Chicago I will definitely eat there again.
First time experiencing Chicago sushi. Was recommended to try Kamehachi and will return again!
Love this place and so consistent and fresh!!
My daughter and her friend really enjoyed the sushi after the Van Gogh exhibit.
Food was just not that great. Asparagus/beef rolls were so overdone, couldn’t eat more than one. Shrimp was too fishy. The rolls weren’t great. Not a lot of flavor
We had been there before, and liked it, but our experience last night was great. My girlfriend loved the Sake the server recommended (Black Dragon under Aromatic), and the Gyoza stood out among the edibles.
Our server from Romania was exceptional and very helpful.
Decent neighborhood sushi place.
I have been going to this wonderful restaurant for many years. The service is above good and the food is awesome. Roger, Aurora , Kitzia and MG Are like family. My grandson and I have celebrated his birthday there since he was 8; he is now 18 and in college. This is our family restaurant ❤️
Food was excellent. We tried new dishes and were quite satisfied. Tried Gyoza, Chicken Kushiyaki, Soft Shell Crab (amazing), and a number of nigiri and sashimi (fresh and excellent) apart from our entrees. Warning, I would rate the wasabi as a 10 in reference to heat (loved it). Rating it as a 4 because the wait staff was very slow but I attribute that to being understaffed. With that said, we will be back.
The fish in the sushi was very mushy and it smelled very fishy which is not normal for sushi.
The food was okay but certainly not the best Japanese food in Chicago. Our food all arrived separately so it made eating together a bit weird.
Always solid and a great treat! Nigiri l, rolls, cocktails, Japanese whiskey etc.
Food was good; service took forever. Tough to tell if this is COVID issue (if so, I empathize) or if this is standard operating for them.
I have been go to Kamaechi for 30 years food is outstanding service was the worst I’ve ever had.
It will take some time before I will return.
Food was fantastic, service was VERY slow with no communication to us, the customers.
This was the second time that we had to wait for almost one hour for our appetizer to come out. We were so tired of waiting that we couldn't enjoy our food. They need to improve a lot on this.
Had such a good experience! Our server was so kind making great recommendations and checking in. Everything was so good I have no complaints!! Spicy edamame was not too spicy but great flavor. The spring rolls were great too! We all got different rolls and shared all so delicious!! Drinks were amazing too. Definitely be back
Food very good, as always. However, only 2? Servers and 4 bidders? For the entire restaurant? Waited 20 mins for a server, and 42 mins for first piece of food. Restaurant should seat less people if it can’t get enough servers. Would have left but it already was late. it was 8:23 pm before food came.
The sushi was pretty average if not disappointing and took a long time to get 3 rolls.
My husband and I celebrated the start of my "68 Birthday," with cocktails and dinner at Kamahachi. We were both very satisfied with the service and our meals I had the Asian Lamb Chops that was so tender I could cut it with a fork, and delicious. We happen onto this fine restaurant because we had reservations to Zanies for a Comedy Show, and Kamehachi is located directly across the street. So, it worked out well for us.
Good place for fine dining! I gave it a "Five Star!"
Overall, the dining experience was great. A friend and I were seated in the upstairs dining area, and it being a Saturday night, several of the other younger patrons were very loud and boisterous at nearby tables (rather "over-served" with Sake perhaps). Not the fault of the restaurant, but it did detract from the ambiance a bit...thus my reduced rating in this category.
Nonetheless, the food, the service and the price were outstanding.
Great sushi. Service was good.
Night out with my 2 sons!
Awesome food as always but service a little slow and I believe was lack of staff
Everything was fresh and excellent! Really enjoyed the sashimi and sushi rolls.
